CHAPTER 53 – THE BRAWL

Book:Luna Between Alphas Published:2024-10-27

VIOLET’S POV
I wonder why these servants kept their eyes fixed on me as if I was one wanted criminal. They followed me with their eyes and watched my every move.
I have to be careful with the way I go about this. It is too early to execute the plan yet. I will have to wait until they get a little comfortable with my presence. I have to make Scarlet be free with me and believe that my motives are pure and then, I will strike.
I walked back to where I was sitting hoping that it will make them move their gaze from me, but they did not. But why are they all acting this way towards me, or is my motive written boldly on my face? I am not a new face here if not I would have concluded that they were trying to familiarize themselves with me.
I decided to ignore them, maybe in that way, they would forget about my presence. I took the publication that was placed on the stool and started to browse through it.
After some time, I looked up again and caught one of the maids staring at me. But unlike before when they would continue staring even with me looking at them, she turned her face away as soon as my eyes fell on her. I smiled and continued with my reading.
“And what are you doing here?” a voice asked.
My heart almost flew away from my mouth. It is the alpha, he had entered the Packhouse and met me sitting down.
“Good day, alpha, the luna asked me to wait here for her” I got up and replied.
My legs were trembling. I was hoping he would be back by evening. Will he take the fact that I am here on the request of his luna to pardon me, or will he have me dealt with for disrespecting his order?
I opened my mouth to speak again, but could not come out with any meaningful word and so he took my hands and dragged me outside.
When we arrived outside, he led me to a closed corner and yelled. “So you never gave up your chase for the luna?”
“My chase?” I murmured.
I wanted to be sure of the angle he was coming from.
“Don’t act dumb. You have always been pestering the luna for weeks now. I don’t know your reason and why you refused to give up even after she had consistently done nothing but ignore you” he said.
My mouth dropped open. So he was aware of the way I have been pestering Scarlet. I have to act innocent before him if I don’t want him to become suspicious of my intention.
“I am sorry, alpha. I just could not forgive myself for the way that I have wronged the luna and that is why I did all I could to make her forgive me and accept me as one of her humble subjects”
“And has the luna forgiven you yet?” he asked.
“Yes she just did and she was the one that requested that I wait inside for her” I responded.
“Okay, you have been forgiven so why not trace your step back to where you came from?” he ordered.
“But the luna, she will be angry that I left” I replied.
“And do you think she will even recall that you were here? And what do you care about the luna? Where is the niceness coming from?” he demanded.
I did not respond and he went on.
“I know you, Violet, and I know that you must be up to something very terrible. Just give up because it will never work. And just know it that I will not spare you should any harm come to my luna” he threatened.
I knew the alpha would be the problem I would have in getting to Scarlet. I already told Elise that with the alpha, there was no hope of hurting Scarlet. But I would have to make him trust me again. He has to accept my closeness with Scarlet to enable me to achieve my aim.
“Harm!” I exclaimed. “I don’t wish any harm to the luna. I came bearing goodwill. The luna has done nothing wrong to me, why should I wish her bad?” I protested.
ALPHA JAKE’S POV
“And do you think she will even recall that you were here? And what do you care about the luna? Where is the niceness coming from?” I asked. “I know you, Violet, and I know that you must be up to something very terrible. Just give up because it will never work. And just know it that I will not spare you should any harm come to my luna”
I am very serious about my threat. Someone like Violet will never change and even though she comes under the pretense of friendship, I know for sure that there is something evil lurking eagerly behind her and waiting to be unleashed.
“Harm! I don’t wish any harm to the luna. I came bearing goodwill. The luna has done nothing wrong to me, why should I wish her bad?” she puts up a defense.
“I can see through you, Violet. You can fool everyone but not me. Be careful, my eyes will always be on you” I assured her.
“You have no belief me, alpha, you have no choice but to. The luna have done nothing wrong to me but had brought nothing but joy to the lives of every member of our Pack. I have come to learn from her so that when I finally meet my mate, I will be worthy of him” she said.
“You are right. The luna has brought nothing into our lives but great joy and fulfillment. But as pertaining to the issue of not having any choice but to believe you, I am sorry but you are completely wrong. When it comes to you, I have a whole lot of choices” I replied.
“Alpha” she called.
“Now you will have to leave” I ordered.
She bowed before me and walked away. I watched her as she stepped out of the gates, and when I was certain that she was gone, I went back inside.
SCARLET’S POV
I came out to the sitting room accompanied by Lara. We are done with our discussion and Rich had gone back to camp.
“I think the alpha should be back now, I will go to his chambers. I will see you later, Lara” I said
“Oh she has gone” Lara murmured
“Who?” I inquired.
“Violet, you asked her to wait here for you, right?” Lara replied.
“Hmm, I see” I replied and walked away.
I have nothing to say to Violet and it was better she left when she did because I have already forgotten about asking her to wait.
