TWO DAYS LATER
Cade had discussed with Abigail, and she had used her mole in the company to find some dirt on anyone around. She then used that information to manipulate a ton of people to testify and pull out a massive train of evidence against Sue. Even though it was fake, they were so thorough that it would be difficult for her to wiggle her way through it.
“Woman, what do I owe the pleasure of you crawling your way into this place?” Charles was harsh, but Abigail did not mind because she knew that she had all she needed to make sure that this plan went through smoothly.
“I am here to see you about your grandson.”
“For the final time, if you ever come to me for this kind of request, I would have no option but to throw both you and Cael into the hard, cool floor outside and bring in his mom instead. I will not make Cael my successor until I have seen that he has what it takes to even be a son worthy of the Vale name,” Abigail rolled her eyes.
He had been saying he would take her out for a year and bring in Cade’s mother but they all knew he could never do it. His son had been buried with a perfect husband and loving father image. Charles was a little too obsessed with images, and because of that, he was not going to bring in another rowman. It would make his son a cheating bastard, and that was the last thing he wanted his family to be known for.
“Is Cael your only grandson? Can I be her because of my other son?” Abigail said and Charles did not like the sound of that at all. All the times Abigail had ever referred to Cade as her son, it always did not end in the right way. He was sure she was up to something.
“What nonsense are you trying to pull here?” Charles asks, and he’s shrugging, sitting down. There is no way that he would send her out now. He thought too much for Cade to send without hearing what it was. He knew that I was probably nothing, but he had to hear her out to make sure of that.
“Nonsense? I am just looking out for my son.”
“What is this about?”
She handed the file in her hand over to him and he flipped through the papers and then raised his eyes to her. “What is this?’
“It is a rare copy of the documents that prove that Sue Cade’s assistant had been committing fraud while working for him. Chairman I was able to catch it this early, but I am afraid that if the board directors happen to find out, it would not end well. They might be forced to think that he ordered this.”
“What do you want?” Charles knew that he could take him down at once if he wanted to. He knew she had been the one to plant all of the evidence against Sue, but he would not let her take Cade down with just a lowly assistant. He had to make sure that he took her down all by herself without affecting his grandson.
“What do you want?”
“Same thing that you want.”
“What do I want?’ Charles asked like he did not know what he was doing. Abigail seemed to have gotten deep into his head.
“For Cade to be safe, all we have to do is fire his current assistant or demote her to another role in the company and make him a new assistant.”
“Okay, then I will get the office of secretaries and send him a new one.”
“No, sir, I have the perfect person for him.”
“The perfect person,” Charles should have seen it coming. She was going to use blackmail to put her person on Csde to monitor him. How could he be so foolish? Even if he was going to get the right information to clear Sue’s name, it might take a while, and the damage might have been done by then.
He was going to let her feel like she had won, even if it was just for a while, and after that, he had to be more violent so that these kinds of things wouldn’t happen again.
“So why would I pick your candidate?” Charles asked.
“Because this girl is more interested in seeing Cade win than anybody else. She used to date him before he came back to the city, and she of all people wants him to be successful.”
Charles knew that disagreeing with her now was pointless; they had gotten this plan all worked out, and now was a really dumb time for him to try to make sense of the situation. They had the upper hand, and he had to agree now.
“Am I going to be able to meet this young lady?”
“You already did; she was here for Cael’s birthday and she is here today again.” Abigail walked to the door and called. Harper stepped in with confidence as she walked to the man sitting in the wheelchair. She was happy with how well the plan that was just a thought in her head was coming together.
“Hello, Mr Vale”
“It is chairman to you,” Charles said. He was not going to allow her to become comfortable with me, such that they were going to find a way to make him part of their crazy plans.
“Oh, I am sorry, Chairman, Thank you for having me, and I will try my best to work very effectively for Cade.”
“He is Mr. Vale to you,” Charles said. “Are we going to have problems with that?” Charles was not going to let her go, even though it was his fault. Letting them go now was going to keep them on their toes, and they would try to devise a bigger plan. He was going to stop them in as little as he could.
“Not at all.”
