“Smack!” Although the surroundings were noisy, Ying Xiaoxiao could hear the crisp and clear slap.
“Well done!” Ying Xiaoxiao’ss eyes flashed with a glimmer of admiration.
“How dare you slap me, you b*tch!” The other woman screamed. She went forward and started tussling with Halle Mitchell. The scene instantly turned chaotic!
Ying Xiaoxiao sipped her cocktail from time to time, watching the farce between the former girlfriend and the side chick with great interest.
In the end, the drama only ended after the bar owner’s mediation. The side chick left with the cad, fuming.
Halle Mitchell, who had been hurt by her unfaithful boyfriend, now walked over and sat down beside Ying Xiaoxiao.
“Give me a glass of whiskey! Make it a double!”
Ying Xiaoxiao saw her take the liquor from the bartender, raise her head, and down the whiskey. She instantly widened her eyes. “She’s drinking whiskey like it’s plain water?”
After finishing the whiskey, she got the bartender to pour her another and raised her head to gulp it down again.
Ying Xiaoxiao quickly reached out to stop her. “You’ll ruin the liquor if you drink like this.”
Halle Mitchell turned and looked at her, her brows furrowing unhappily. “It’s my business how I drink, not yours!”
She sounded very rude, but Ying Xiaoxiao did not take it to heart at all. She still maintained the amiable smile on her face. “It’s indeed none of my business, but the way you drink, you will get drunk no matter how well you can hold your liquor.”
Then she pushed her whiskey down, placed it on the bar counter and continued. “Just now I saw you beat that side chick. I feel like you really released your anger and I admire you very much.”
Halle Mitchell knitted her brows deeply. “Are you mocking me?”
“Mocking you?” Ying Xiaoxiao raised her eyebrows, then burst out laughing. “Why would I?”
“That’s right. Why would she mock me?”
Halle Mitchell immediately felt she was being unreasonable. She had actually vented her anger on an unacquainted woman.
She gave Ying Xiaoxiao an apologetic smile. “Sorry, I’m in a foul mood, so… ”
“I understand.” Ying Xiaoxiao cut off her explanation and sounded very empathetic. “If it were me in such a situation, I might not have let them off so easily.”
“I don’t want to let them off either,” Halle Mitchell murmured and then smiled bitterly, “but to continue tussling with them would only cheapen myself. There’s no point in doing that. There are plenty of men in this world, and he’s just one of them.”
“Am I not right?” She tilted her head and looked at Ying Xiaoxiao.
Ying Xiaoxiao raised her eyebrows and nodded noncommittally. “You are indeed.”
“So… ” Halle Mitchell shrugged, her lips curving into a smile. “I gave up.”
Although she was smiling, one could see that her smile was forced.
They were both women, so Ying Xiaoxiao could understand her feelings of being betrayed by the man she loved.
Ying Xiaoxiao raised the glass in her hand and smiled. “Come, let’s pray that you’ll find a good man soon.”
Halle Mitchell also lifted her glass and clinked hers lightly. She smiled back. “I hope the two of us will both find good men.”
since they both felt for and appreciated each other, they were like old friends who hadn’t met for years. They started drinking and chatting about all sorts of gossip, giggling unceasingly. Those who did not know them would have thought that they were good friends.
Like Corey, for example.
Walking into the bar, he saw Ying Xiaoxiao sitting at the bar counter after a quick glance. She was chatting happily with a woman, beaming broadly and seemingly in a good mood.
He had not wanted to disturb her at first, but still walked towards her, motivated by some strange impulse.
“Ying Xiaoxiao.” He patted her gently on the shoulder.
Ying Xiaoxiao, who had been busy chatting, suddenly stopped talking. She turned around and looked at the newcomer, a tinge of astonishment flashing across her eyes. “What brings you here?”
Corey did not answer her. Instead, his gaze landed on the woman with whom she had been chatting. “Is this your friend?”
