Sachin entered the dining room. Rosiley, who was ladling soup, looked up and saw him. She flashed a radiant smile when she saw it was him. “Sachin, come and sit down over here.”
That instant he saw her smile, the bad mood caused by his father instantly dissipated and he cheered up.
He returned the smile and walked over to sit down.
His life was tranquil and blissful. He would not allow anyone to destroy it.
After supper, Rosiley helped Auntie Wu wash up before going upstairs.
As she walked up the stairs, she pondered what Auntie Wu had just told her.
“Young Madam, Old Master sent someone to look for Young Master just now. I think he came because of Fourth Young Master. I don’t know what Young Master did to him, but I’m worried Old Master might do something to Young Master if he gets angry, so you must persuade Young Master to reconcile with Old Master, or he’ll suffer the consequences.”
“So Sachin’s father sent someone here.” No wonder she had felt like Sachin’s mind was wandering during supper. He seemed to have something on his mind.
She did not understand why Auntie Wu had said that his father would do something to Sachin if he got angry. After all, they were still father and son. It was unlikely that he would harm Sachin, right?
But the situation in the Lu Family was complicated. There were some things she did not understand.
So she thought it better to ask Sachin himself.
So she went to the door of his study. The moment she pushed it open, she heard Sachin’s cold voice.
“Calvin Lu deserves his punishment. Must we condone his crimes just because he’s a Lu?”
“I forgot that Carl Lu and Calvin Lu are your most precious sons.”
“You think Benin City is the capital? In Benin, I, Sachin, have the final say.”
“If you dare touch her, I will create havoc in the Lu Family.”
Every word was full of coldness, making Rosiley feel flustered inside without good reason.
He was talking to his father, but it sounded more like he was talking to an enemy.
His relationship with his father was worse than the one she had with her father.
The study became quiet. Rosiley pushed the door open and walked in.
He was standing in front of the window. His tall figure had a touch of fierce iciness to it. She pursed her lips and tiptoed over.
“Sachin.”
She called him softly.
She saw his body tremble and the coldness disappear in an instant. He turned his head slowly, looking into her deeply worried eyes.
“Auntie Wu has already told me,” she said.
He gazed deeply at her, not saying anything.
She walked up to him and looked up, raking her eyes over his handsome face. “Sachin, I don’t want you to get hurt.”
Sachin’s eyes sparkled slightly and he smiled apologetically. “I’m sorry to have made you worried.”
Rosiley shook her head lightly. “You don’t have to apologize. I just want to… ”
She paused, a hint of resolution in her eyes. “I just want to know what’s going on.”
“You really want to know?” he asked softly.
“Yes.” She nodded firmly.
He smiled and lifted his hand to ruffle her hair, then said gently, “Rosiley, your heart is pure and innocent. I don’t want you to know too much about such sordid and filthy affairs. I want to preserve your untainted heart.”
He would endure all of these things alone.
