Elisa no longer refused because Andrew was smiling at her. She waved goodbye to Summer and Spencer, then walked towards Andrew and got into his car. As Andrew entered the driver’s seat, the car started under the watchful eyes of Summer and Spencer.
“Do you think they have a chance?” Summer asked with a happy smile, holding onto Spencer’s arm and looking at his handsome profile.
Spencer’s deep gaze lingered on the departing car. He spoke calmly, “Andrew is very attentive to your sister.”
“What?” Summer was taken aback.
“He likes your sister,” Spencer said confidently, “Agnes.”
“That can’t be,” Summer shook her head with a smile. “How is that possible?”
But Spencer’s eyes were too certain. Summer recalled the dinner earlier but didn’t notice anything unusual. “They seem to have a normal relationship.”
“I’m a man; I understand men,” Spencer raised an eyebrow slightly. “Trust my judgment.”
Seeing the seriousness in his eyes, Summer felt a slight pang in her heart, as if faced with a dilemma. On one side was her sister, on the other her best friend. What should she do?
Her sister was in a difficult position.
“So put aside the idea of matchmaking them for now. First, find out how your sister feels,” Spencer advised. “Don’t end up breaking up your sister’s marriage for the sake of your friend.”
Summer felt a wave of fear.
That night, Tom Fritz spent about twenty minutes in the neighborhood holding Bubu, enjoying a pleasant atmosphere before saying goodbye to the girl.
When Summer returned home, Agnes was already back. She was happily playing with toys to entertain Bubu, sitting casually on the carpet in front of the sofa like a child. She seemed to be in a particularly good mood.
“You’re back!”
Hearing the door open, Agnes looked up with a smile.
“Bubu, there’s something I want to ask you.” Summer put down her bag as she entered and walked towards her sister.
“Go ahead and ask.” The young girl continued playing with the cat.
“You don’t like Ansel; do you like Andrew?”
Agnes paused slightly and looked up at her. “Is that cause and effect? Not liking Ansel because I like Andrew?”
“I’m asking you; please answer.” Summer sat down on the sofa.
The sisters’ gazes met, and Summer waited for an answer.
“Don’t look at me like that; I don’t like Andrew,” Agnes said uneasily under her sister’s stare. “He did confess to me, but I rejected him.”
Summer felt a slight jolt in her heart; Spencer’s analysis was correct-he had confessed?
“What’s wrong? Why are you suddenly asking about this?”
Since Agnes didn’t like Andrew, Summer spoke directly. “Elisa likes Andrew very much. I was planning to set them up, but your brother-in-law said Andrew might be interested in you.”
“There won’t be any follow-up between us. He’s not Ansel; he’s mature and stable,” Agnes said confidently. “In matters of love, if he sees no hope, he won’t waste his time.”
“So sure?”
“Most adults are like that; Ansel is just a kid.”
Summer thought for a moment and focused on her sister. “Agnes, do you believe in love? You don’t think it’s all about weighing pros and cons, do you?”
“Of course I believe in love.” Every time she thought of her little cat, Agnes’s smile softened beautifully.
She held Bubu in her arms, gently stroking its back. “Do you believe that in today’s restless society, someone can love a person who isn’t even around for many years?”
