On the way, Tom drove the car, feeling wonderful. Agnes sat quietly in the passenger seat, sipping hot pudding without a word, listening to him tell stories about Bubu… how he adopted it and how they developed their bond. Bubu’s cuteness, its naughtiness, its clinginess… and how it looked when it was sick. The girl listened attentively, finding it interesting and occasionally worrying about Bubu.
“Now that it’s with me, has its living standard dropped?” Agnes worried.
“Its mental world is definitely richer,” Tom Fritz reassured her. “Bubu has even gained weight, hasn’t it?”
She could feel that this little cat had a close relationship with Mr. Fritz. Because of this cat, the two of them felt much closer, like old friends who had known each other for a long time. Time passed unnoticed, and the car finally drove into the community.
When getting out of the car, Agnes reminded him, “Drink the pudding while it’s hot; it won’t taste the same when it’s cold.”
“Okay,” he nodded. “I’ll drink it in a bit; let me check on Bubu first.”
As she got out of the car, she told him, “Wait for me here; I’ll be right back.”
“Take your time; don’t rush and fall. I’m not in a hurry.” Tom always gave off an impression of being a gentleman, warm and gentle like jade. He always considered others’ feelings well.
After she left, he also got out of the car and took in the atmosphere of the community. There were quite a few residents, and the brightly lit surroundings gave off a cozy feeling. Tom Fritz stood by the car waiting and observing his surroundings.
The girl took the elevator upstairs and entered her apartment using her fingerprint. She headed straight to Bubu’s living balcony. “Bubu, Bubu come here!”
“Meow~” Hearing its owner’s voice, the little one poked its head out.
Agnes bent down to pick up this adorable short-legged creature from its cat bed. “Come on, let’s go see Daddy! Daddy came to see you! Are you happy?”
Holding the kitten in her arms, she quickly changed into slippers and walked into the elevator. “Meow~” The little one snuggled into her arms excitedly.
“Bubu, when you see Daddy later, don’t get too excited. Daddy is usually very busy and will soon return to the lab. He’s just here to see you today, not to take you away! Remember?”
Agnes really liked this kitten and couldn’t bear to part with it. In a way, it had become her emotional support.
Exiting the elevator, Agnes walked towards Tom’s car holding Bubu. Under the moonlight and streetlights, the man standing by the car appeared tall and elegant, like a brushstroke in a traditional Chinese painting.
When Tom noticed her, he fixed his gaze on her as well. This young girl was vibrant and youthful.
“Bubu, do you see Daddy?” Agnes walked towards Tom Fritz with a smile on her face. Her smile was sweet and her eyes were as dark as midnight dew.
When she reached him, he extended his hand to take Bubu from her arms. Their hands touched briefly but warmly.
“Meow~ Meow!” Bubu was excited in Tom’s arms, pawing at him and tilting its head up constantly. “Meow~!” It seemed to recognize his familiar scent and got even more excited.
Tom was very happy, his face full of smiles. Agnes was also very happy.
Meanwhile, Summer’s dinner gathering had ended.
She directly told Andrew, “Why don’t you take Elisa home? It’s halfway along your route anyway; I have something else to do with Spencer.”
“It’s no problem,” Elisa quickly said with a smile. “I can just get a cab.”
Andrew’s gentle gaze fell on her. “Don’t be so formal; I’ll take you home since it’s basically on my way.”
He then walked to his car and opened the passenger door for her.
“Go ahead,” Summer gently pushed Elisa with a smile. “We’re all familiar with each other; no need to be so polite about something that’s on the way.”
