“I don’t know what flavors there are,” Tom said honestly. “I haven’t had milk tea before.” He didn’t feel embarrassed about it.
In fact, Agnes rarely drank it either; she only did so occasionally.
“Then I’ll go take a look and pick something for you. I hope you’ll like it.”
The girl got out of the car, closed the door, and walked towards the line. There were about ten people ahead of her, so he would have to wait for a while.
Agnes felt a bit awkward but also touched and warm inside. She felt a little guilty for taking up his time.
Tom Fritz sat in the car waiting and randomly played a song. The car window was half-open, and the lights outside were dazzling, showcasing the city’s prosperity.
The wind tonight was gentle, blowing through his hair and easing his furrowed brows. At this moment, he felt incredibly relaxed.
That small figure stood in line, occasionally glancing back at the car parked by the roadside.
Agnes hoped time would pass quickly; she didn’t want him to wait too long. She was always so kind, always thinking of others.
Finally, it was her turn after ten minutes.
She bought two cups of hot pudding milk tea and quickly walked back to the Volvo.
Tom Fritz saw her coming with two cups of milk tea. He hurriedly got out of the car, walked around to open the passenger door for her.
“Thank you,” the girl said as she got in. “I didn’t know what flavor you liked. Hot pudding is the best seller, so I got two cups.”
“Alright,” Tom said, closing the door. He got back into the car, gave her a gentle smile, and then started the engine.
He placed his cup in the cup holder while Agnes held hers in her hands.
He asked, “Do you want to go anywhere else or head straight home?”
“Home.”
The car headed towards her small apartment…
“Why aren’t you drinking?” Tom seemed to read her mind and said casually, “You can drink in my car; there’s no need for such formalities.”
How did he see through her concerns?
Agnes became even more reserved. Though she smiled, she took a deep breath and discreetly took a sip through the straw.
The flavor was rich and fragrant; he should like it.
During the silence, the lyrics of the song playing in the car became particularly clear-
“Stew time into fragrance, while you just smile without speaking. For every regretful thing, drink a bowl of soup. The courtyard is deep, autumn leaves fall…”
The girl thought for a moment and then turned to start a conversation. “Your little cat has gotten fatter recently.”
The man drove with an elegance that made him seem like a prince straight out of a comic book.
Agnes increasingly felt that this man was unattainable; he was different from ordinary people.
“I feel very assured leaving it with you,” Tom Fritz glanced at her and gave a warm smile.
He felt very content at that moment, driving with a gentle voice. “I thought our next meeting would be after I returned from the lab when I went to see Bubu. But fate is amazing; we met while I was out for a drive and you were taking a walk.”
As he spoke, he occasionally glanced at her with a smile.
The girl looked at his charming face and couldn’t help but smile as well. “Do you want to go see it?”
“Is it convenient?” Tom Fritz asked excitedly, his gentlemanly demeanor slipping for a moment.
The girl was slightly taken aback.
He quickly explained, “I mean it’s late now; is it convenient for me to go to your place to see it?”
Agnes hadn’t really considered this question. Convenience or not, she just knew he was Bubu’s former owner and inexplicably felt no guard against him because he didn’t seem like a bad person.
“I…” She didn’t want him to misunderstand, so she said reservedly, “I can bring it down; we can meet at our usual spot.”
Tom Fritz was quite pleased. “Sure, thank you!”
