Jaxon’s phone pinged beside him and he reached a handout and felt around his bedside table. His phone screen flashed and he squinted his eyes as the light from it nearly blinded him. He saw it was still quite early in the morning but he still considered it late. What had he set an alarm for again?
He couldn’t remember why he had set it or it could be that he was still groggy from sleep and that was why he couldn’t remember. He glanced at the time again to make sure he wasn’t seeing things but the time hadn’t changed. To the average man, that was an early time to wake up but to him, it was late. He was usually up before then and he wondered why he had slept longer.
He stretched his body on the bed and felt so refreshed. He hadn’t slept that well in a while. Beside him, Ruby was still fast asleep and he took pleasure in just watching her sleep.
He abandoned his phone back on the bedside table and scooted over until he was right next to her. He placed an arm around her to pull her closer and his heart swelled when she turned around to face him and then pressed herself harder against him. She nuzzled his bare chest and goosebumps rose on his chest because of it, but he didn’t move.
He relished the feel of her in his arms and he was content to just lay there and feel her breathing against him.
A few minutes passed and he suddenly felt Ruby move against him and her eyes opened slowly.
“Jaxon?” Ruby croaked out. Her voice was a bit scratchy from just waking up.
“It’s me. How did you sleep?” He asked then sat up as Ruby followed suit.
“Just fine. Hey, what time is it?” She asked and he checked his phone again.
“Eight-thirty.” He said and her eyes bulged out.
“It’s half past eight, don’t you have to go to work? You didn’t have to wait for me to wake up.” Ruby let out panicked.
“Hey, hey, relax. I’m not heading into work today.” He told her. He was heading somewhere else but that was a talk for later.
“Oh, okay then.” She replied then let out a yawn.
He got up from the bed and stretched out fully, his muscles cracked as he did so. He went into the bathroom and got the shower running before he strolled back out.
“I still want to lay down for a bit.” She told him.
“I’m going to take a shower… Do you want to join me instead?” He asked with a cheeky smile and Ruby rolled her eyes.
“No thanks, unless we will actually be showering.” She responded then gave him a knowing look. His smile turned mischievous when he replied.
“I can’t promise you that I’m afraid. But I can assure you, you will have a really good time.” He said.
“Then in that case no, have fun in the shower.” She let out.
“Oh, come on, now…” He started but Ruby gave him a stern look which he ignored.
“I promise to be gentle,” he continued.
“Jaxon!”
“Alright, you’re not showering with me, I get it.” He said with his hands raised up. Ruby threw a pillow at him which he caught easily. He threw it back just as he heard her mutter,
“You have no shame.” He acted like he didn’t hear her and snickered all the way to the bathroom. He could almost feel her glaring at his back.
He showered promptly then came back out to meet Ruby still lying in the same spot.
“Alright, how about this?” He started saying to get her attention and when her eyes were on him, he continued.
“Since you refused to shower with me which is actually sad because the water was nice and warm and-”
“Okay get to the point.” Ruby deadpanned with a playful scowl and he smiled.
“Okay, since you refused to shower with me, how about I help you with yours and also help you to get ready for the day.” He suggested and he watched the clocks in her head turn as she considered the idea.
“You want to help me shower?” She asked and he nodded.
“Jaxon, I’m not a baby, I can do that myself.”
“I know you can, but I want to anyway… And by the way, you are my baby and I love bathing you too which is also why I offered.” He cleared up and Ruby gave him a look. He watched her eyes glaze over in thought for a moment before she said,
” So just shower?”
“Just shower.” He confirmed.
“And no funny business.” She suddenly blurted out then pointed a finger at him in warning. Jeez, what did she think was going to happen? He then smirked as he thought of what he wanted to do to her. But a promise was a promise even if he didn’t make it out loud.
“No funny business.” He told her.
He did just as she asked and there was no funny business involved though he had to stop himself several times. He walked her out of the bathroom as he thought about how he might need another shower if he didn’t watch himself. A cold one.
He ushered her into the dressing room where she had already put her clothes previously. He took his time applying lotion on her body and planted kisses along her body as he traveled downwards.
He placed a kiss on her collarbone, her chest, and the valley between her breasts. His chest rumbled when he felt her shiver from his touch. He got on his knees as his mouth traveled lower and he pressed a kiss against her stomach, where he believed their baby to be. He didn’t linger there and he went further and left a kiss on both of her thighs.
He got up again and looked at the very flushed Ruby and smiled. He dressed her up then they walked hand in hand as they left their room and went downstairs.
Ruby settled into one of the chairs in the kitchen as he set about making the both of them breakfast. Thirty minutes later, he placed a plate of eggs and bacon in front of Ruby and then made a plate for himself.
“Ruby, there’s something I want to tell you.” He started, he figured this was the right time to tell her what he planned.
“What?” She mumbled with a mouth full of eggs.
“I’m going to meet June and talk to her about what happened to Serena.” He said in one go and Ruby looked at him in shock.
