Ruby’s brows creased in concern, her gaze was fixed on the ceiling as she worried about Jaxon.
Her lips pursed into a thin line of worry, her mind a jumbled mess of anxiety and speculations as she desperately tried to find a way to help.
Ruby blamed herself for everything that was happening. If it wasn’t for her stupidity and
carelessness, Jaxon wouldn’t be in this position where people were bad-mouthing him and insulting him.
She blamed herself for being gullible, she regretted not bringing the contract to her marital home along with her other clothes. If only she had kept it safe, all these would not be happening. Kim would not have had the guts to blackmail her and set her up.
Ruby thought about how stressed out Jaxon looked earlier. She didn’t even know how he was
doing at the moment.
She didn’t know if everything was okay at the office or if people had barged in to throw more hate comments at him.
Jaxon was her life, she didn’t want anything to happen to him. Ruby desperately wanted to
protect him and keep him safe just like he does to her as well.
Ruby was anxious and distressed, she didn’t want to keep sitting at home doing nothing. She
wanted to help Jaxon. Ruby wanted to try and relieve the workload for him.
She nodded her head in conviction as she thought about possible ways to end this drama. She
has made up her mind to put out the fire from the source.
Everything had started because of Kimberly and Ruby will make sure that she ends what she
had started. She will not allow her to go scot-free after causing so much harm to them.
She picked up her phone and dialed Kimberly’s number. She picked up on the fourth ring and
Ruby’s irritation grew as she refused to utter a single word.
“Hello to you, Kim,” Ruby said sarcastically, and Kimberly sighed in annoyance.
“What do you want? If you are calling to beg me, then I’m sorry, but it’s too late. Your dirty laundry
has gone viral and there’s nothing I can do about it.” Ruby’s hold tightened around the phone and she felt anger rising underneath her skin.
“I want us to talk. Let’s meet up at our old house.” Ruby said dryly.
“You don’t get to tell me what to do. Why should I meet you? What if it’s your plan to kill me?” Ruby sighed.
“Not everyone is evil like you, Kim. I’ll see you in an hour. If you want me to, I’ll pay for your
transportation.” She sneered, ending the call.
Ruby stood up from the bed, grabbed her purse, and made her way out of the room and house.
“Where are you going ma’am?” Ruslan asked Ruby immediately she stepped out.
“I have somewhere I need to be Ruslan,” Ruby replied dismissively.
“Boss has asked me to keep you safe at home unless it is absolutely necessary for you to go
out and even then I’ll have to accompany you.” Ruslan stood straight as he said this.
Ruby smiled softly as she thought about Jaxon again.
If he had the time to give such strict instructions concerning her safety even while he was stressed out and in a rush how could she not try her best to lessen his load?
“Go and get the car. It’s an order and you’re not coming with me.” She stated. Ruslan was hesitant but he nodded and left to get the car from the garage.
…..
The car parked in front of their old house, and Ruby felt nostalgic. This was the house that she
had grown up in. It has all the beautiful and sad memories she had created with her parents and
sister.
Kimberly walked into the house and rolled her eyes in irritation when she saw Ruby standing by
the kitchen counter and drinking water from a bottle.
“What the fuck is so important that you dragged me all the way here?” Ruby jumped in fright and
the water splashed on the floor. Kimberly looked at her boredly.
“I called you here so we could talk like adults. I want to know if I’ve ever done anything to
deserve so much wickedness and hatred from you. Because I don’t understand why you are always against me.” Ruby softly said and Kimberly glared at her with so much anger.
“Keep your stupid acting to yourself. We both know you are not truly kind or innocent. And how
can I not hate you when you have snatched everything away from me?” Kimberly angrily
shouted.
“I didn’t snatch anything from you! You are the one who is always going after what is mine.” Ruby shot back.
“You are evil Ruby. You only care about yourself and no one else! You have always taken away
what I wanted. The love and attention of mom and dad, beauty and everything!” Kimberly angrily
yelled.
“Don’t blame me for being a good child! And they loved us equally, you are just greedy! And it is
because of that same greed that you want to snatch my husband and all that I hold dear. Do you even know why I got married to him?” Kimberly clenched her fists in anger as she marched into
the kitchen.
“For money and fame, what else could a bitch like you want?” Kimberly smirked.
“I married Jaxon because I loved you, I agreed to the contract so I will be able to pay for your
hospital bills! Do you even know how hard I worked to keep you alive? And this is how you
repay me?!” Ruby angrily yelled and Kimberly didn’t even flinch at the revelation.
“You must be so happy then because you got the man, the riches, fame, and everything that I’ve
always wanted and dreamt of! Right from childhood you always took the love and attention that was meant for me, you snatched my friends! You snatched it all away from me!” Kimberly
sneered.
“I didn’t take anything from you because it was never yours to begin with! You should blame
yourself for pursuing all the people around you with your awful character! That is why you are
unattractive and I bet even Damon left you because you are a bad person.” Ruby angrily
snapped.
“How dare you! You are just a lying fox that is against my happiness.” Kim angrily pushed her and Ruby stumbled backwards.
“But do you know what? I think it’s high time I put an end to your episode!” Kimberly angrily
pushed her, and Ruby’s back collided with the counter, and she screamed in pain.
Her hands hit the dishwasher and it fell on the floor.
Kimberly grabbed a kitchen knife and approached her with a deadly glint in her eyes.
“Let’s talk Kim! Stop this madness. You’re pregnant!!!” Ruby yelled, hoping the thought of the baby would knock some sense into her head.
“Fuck the baby. I’m aborting it once I leave here. You shouldn’t have come here sis. Not after what happened. You’re so stupid and naive.” Kim mocked and she suddenly charged at Ruby with the knife.
