“I’m sorry.” Ruby tightened her hold around him.
“I’m so sorry.” Ruby sadly mumbled. Jaxon sighed as he softly started to pat her head.
“I’m so sorry I caused you so much pain. I feel so stupid.” Ruby whispered and her whole body started to shake as her eyes teared up.
Jaxon groaned as he trailed his hands up and down her back in a soothing way. If there was anything he hated more than seeing her in danger it was seeing her cry.
“I’m so sorry for being such a bad wife. I should have known better and trusted you. You have never given me a reason not to trust you and I have messed up so badly at the first time of being put to the test. I should have given you the benefits of the doubt and listened to you but I was quick to judge.” Ruby was deeply saddened and disappointed in herself. She couldn’t believe that she had picked her sister’s words over his in a heartbeat.
Kim had lied to her on so many occasions so why did she trust her so blindly? Why did she break the heart of her husband who had never ever given her a reason to doubt his love and honesty? Ruby felt like she was the most stupid person alive.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t believe you… you deserved so much better.” Ruby cried sadly. Jaxon rocked her like a baby as she cried and Ruby felt even worse.
After all that had happened he was still consoling her so sweetly. He continued to soothing play with her hair until her cries turned into soft sniffles.
Jaxon pulled away from the hug and gently held her hands in his. Ruby felt ashamed as he looked at her and she averted her eyes to the floor.
“First off I’m very disappointed in you.” Jaxon said, his eyes full of disappointment and sadness. He spoke in a hushed tone, his voice laced with hurt and regret. Ruby’s heart sinks, the weight of her guilt almost too much to bear.
She lowered her gaze, her face filled with remorse as she fought back tears.
“I love you more than life itself so how could you ever believe that I would go so far to hurt you? What made you think that I would cheat on you now that we are officially a couple when I have never made an advance on anyone while our contract was going on and you meant nothing to me?
I felt so disappointed when you chose to take your sister’s words over mine, even after I told you about how she drugged me! She almost raped me but you didn’t care enough to trust me. You stood solely behind her like a child who couldn’t tell right or wrong and that alone devastated me.” Ruby couldn’t hold it in any longer and tears started to stream down her face. She didn’t know the full Impact of her words and actions that day until now. She could hear the hurt, sadness and disappointment in Jaxon’s voice.
“I loved you so much Ruby but you went ahead to hurt me in the worst possible way. How could I ever look at you the same knowing that you did not have complete faith and trust in me?” Ruby looked up with tears streaming down her face and Jaxon smiled sadly as he softly cupped her cheeks and wiped her tears.
“You have hurt me more than I can imagine Ruby. I tried my best to keep you in the dark about your sister’s scheming ways because I wanted you to always be happy but you… you didn’t even care about me, you threw my love away in a matter of minutes and shattered my heart with your mistrust.” Jaxon smiled sadly as he stared into her eyes. They weren’t as sparkly as they usually were, her eyes looked dim and he could see the sadness and guilt swirling within them.
“I’m so sorry.” Ruby stuttered out.
“Sorry doesn’t solve everything Gem, I don’t know if I’ll be able to forget this incident.” Jaxon whispered truthfully and Ruby started to fiddle with her hands as she softly cried.
“I trust you Jaxon. But I got blinded by the love and blind trust I had in Kim. She was the only family I had left and I trusted my parents’ upbringing. She fooled me and used my love for her to destroy my home, my heart and my relationship… I’m so sorry for being so gullible.” Ruby cried with each word and Jaxon felt his heart ache within him.
“You deserved so much better, I should have done better and suppressed my emotions but my feelings got to me and clouded my judgment. I’m so sorry.” Ruby whimpered and grabbed his large hands in her small ones.
“I’m so sorry I hurt you so badly and I’m sorry for being so selfish but I can’t live without you Jaxon. I can’t stay away from you after tasting how good it feels to be loved and adored by you. I miss you so much that I feel like I might go crazy.
I miss your warm hugs, I miss your cuddles and sweet kisses, I miss having you around.
I love you so much and I’m so sorry for disappointing you.” Jaxon felt all his anger slowly melt away as he stared at her fragile figure.
“I love you so much babe and I will die if you don’t speak to me again. I can’t do without you, I can’t survive the pain of being separated from you. I can’t stand not being able to hug you and confide in you. I’m so sorry for breaking your trust.” Jaxon smiled softly as he felt his anger dissipate and his heart turned to mush.
He pulled her into his arms and placed soft kisses on her hair as she cried in his arms.
“Shhh… it’s okay Gem, stop crying now.” Jaxon softly whispered in her eyes and delicious tingles ran down her spine.
“I could never stay mad at you for long Gem, I forgive you.”
