Kim paced around her and Ruby’s childhood home in angry steps. Why was this happening to her? How could it even happen? She had planned so meticulously and when she thought everything was right on track and she was about to come out victorious, it all blew up in her face.
The familiar walls of the house would have welcomed her in any other setting. But just the fact that Ruby also stayed here and there were traces of her everywhere made her want to rip the house into shreds. She’d fled here after the situation had gone a different path than she had expected. Just thinking of the fact she was pregnant with some… Some driver’s baby made her want to gag. She’d get rid of it, that’s for sure. There was no way she was having a poor man’s child.
Jaxon was the one who caused her to be in this situation, and she had run out of curses to use on him. It was all because of Ruby too, she thought as she fumed. She hated Damon, the stupid driver who’d gotten her pregnant, Jaxon, and most especially Ruby. She wanted all of them to burn in hell.
“How dare Jaxon do something like that to me?!” She muttered.
“The bastard set me up and let some useless driver sleep with me!”
“He’ll definitely pay. I’ll make him pay.” She whispered lowly, her eyes were wide and she looked like she was on the brink of screaming.
Kim continued to mumble like a mad woman as she rummaged through the house. She wasn’t looking for anything in particular per se, she was just looking through things for the sake of it. Or to possibly destroy it if it was Ruby’s. She was determined to erase anything of Ruby’s from the house.
She had gone through multiple rooms and was in Ruby’s room. She checked drawers, the closet, and other odd spaces in the room where Ruby kept her stuff. She was about to leave the room when her foot hit something under the bed.
Her mind rang and she thought she had hit the jackpot. She crouched down, picked what was a box from under the bed and set it on top of it.
She opened the box and found odd trinkets stashed in it and she sighed. A paper at the bottom of the box caught her eyes and she decided to give it a look. It wasn’t a paper, it was her ticket to revenge.
Her eyes ran down the paper… No! Contract at the speed of light as she absorbed its content. The more she read, the more her feelings got twisted. On the one hand, she was happy to find some dirt on Jaxon and Ruby and use it against them. On the other hand, she couldn’t help feeling annoyed that her sister was in a sham of a marriage and she hadn’t known about it.
It was written in the contract. The marriage wasn’t a real one and some terms and conditions applied. If the marriage wasn’t even real, then why was Jaxon so pressed about being faithful to his paper wife? She sneered thinking of how she had been jealous of Ruby when her position as Jaxon’s wife was hanging by a thread.
She couldn’t help feeling irritated as she thought of Ruby. Kim knew if she were the one in that situation, she would have found a way to make her position as his wife permanent. So Ruby thought that after living a luxurious life as a billionaire’s wife, she would simply pack up and go back to being poor? What sort of foolishness was that?
When she had formulated her plan to get Jaxon for herself, she had thought to trick Ruby because she didn’t think she would be fooled as easily. But who knew Ruby was more stupid than she thought? She would not have gone through so much effort with her plan if she knew that was the case.
She glanced down at the contract in her hands for the umpteenth time and practically memorized every single detail there. It had finally sunk in that her sister’s marriage was nothing more than a mere contract and she had been jealous of nothing. Well, not nothing since Ruby had been lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to get noticed by Jaxon.
She didn’t think there was anything remotely spectacular about her sister that would make Jaxon go “Oh, I’m going to get married to this woman.” She was sure he’d simply found a woman, that woman being Ruby, who would fulfill the details of the contract without stress. She also assumed that the terms of the contract were wholly Jaxon’s idea because what did Ruby know about anything? She was even 99% sure that Ruby was a virgin before she had met Jaxon, and it was probably Jaxon who’d shown her what it was like to have sex.
She’d always hated how Ruby seemed so pure, even in the environment they’d grown up in. Deep down, she had hoped Ruby would be corrupted somehow so they would both be on the same page.
A triumphant smile grew on Kim’s face as she thought of the possibilities of what the contract in her hands entailed. Her mind had been racing with different ways to make Ruby and Jaxon pay. She scoffed as she imagined Jaxon thought he could embarrass her by setting her up with some lowlife nobody because of his precious Ruby. She would make Ruby pay for all the humiliation she had taken and she would make her pay hard.
Kim had thought all hope had been lost but as they say, when a door closes, a window opens instead. The contract in her hands was that window and she would be sure to use it properly. She smiled cruelly and thought of how ironic that what she would use to bring Ruby down had been gotten from Ruby herself. If only Ruby had kept it properly… But she hadn’t, and it was a plus for her. Kim sighed deeply and thought she was finally winning again.
