Kim let Ruby hold her as tears rushed down her eyes in slow streams. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Jaxon who had come with Ruby and she was suddenly reminded of why she had gone through so much trouble to be with Damon.
And it had all been for naught. It wasn’t fair, what did Ruby have that she didn’t and why was she the only one to get a rich man?
Kim stood frozen as her tears continued to fall. She was so occupied with her thoughts that she didn’t notice on time that Ruby had tried to get her attention several times.
“Kim?” She heard a gentle voice whisper close to her and she was quickly reminded of where she was.
Ruby had managed to remove her from the daze she had been and her eyes darted across Ruby’s. Kim then glanced over to Jaxon who had remained quiet, then her eyes unexpectedly ran into Ophelia’s who
stared at her suspiciously. Unlike Ruby who seemed sympathetic.
“What is it? What happened to you?” Ruby’s questions brought a fresh set of tears to Kim as she remembered her encounter with Damon.
Kim didn’t know why she did it, but overcome with emotion, she moved forward and then flung her arms around Ruby again. Ruby put her arms around her as well and they stayed that way for a while. She heard someone clear their throat then Jaxon said,
“I’ll give you two some privacy.” He muttered from behind Ruby’s back.
“I’ll go too.” Ophelia put in. Kim heard them as they shuffled away from them and thankfully out of earshot.
“Okay we are alone now in case you felt uncomfortable before, so what’s the matter?” Ruby asked her again and Kim could hear and feel how concerned her sister was.
Kim didn’t say anything at first, she simply stood and let the hug progress.
“It’s okay, you can cry it out if you want to and then tell me what happens later,” Ruby whispered in her ears. Kim finally pulled away from her and then mumbled in a teary voice.
“It was Damon.”
Ruby’s face scrunched up in confusion as she asked,
“Damon? I’m not following.” Ruby told her.
“The thing is, Damon and I were dating then he called it off because of a silly argument.” She confessed.
“Wait, you and Damon?” Ruby asked her with a shocked expression and she nodded.
“Well, yes we have been seeing each other for a couple of months, then one day I found him talking to another woman and confronted him about it and he blew up on me. We started fighting after that, then today he just called it off out of the blue.” Kim finished with tears in her eyes.
The tears that rolled down Kim’s cheeks were no longer tears of sadness. As she thought about it, she didn’t really think they had resulted from Damon ending things with her entirely. Kim was more devastated at the fact that her plan hadn’t gone according to plan.
“Oh, he cheated on you?!” Ruby suddenly asked her with her voice raised.
“No, no he didn’t. It’s just that I found him talking to another woman. Then I found out he talked to other women frequently even though I was with him. And it hurts so bad Ruby, because I love him.” Towards the end of her “speech”, her words had gotten caught up in her throat.
Ruby took her back in her arms and rubbed her back soothingly. What Ruby didn’t know however was that she had omitted some parts of what really happened. Kim told herself that what Ruby didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her.
An idea struck Kim’s mind and she decided to go for it.
“Ruby, can you talk to him for me? Tell him to take me back because I miss him already.” She told Ruby sadly. To Kim though, it was more along the side of the would miss what he could do for her. But Ruby didn’t need to know that.
Kim mentally crossed her fingers and hoped Ruby would agree. She had gone through so much to get Damon to be with her and she would do a lot more to recover that relationship. She wasn’t about to start all over again by looking for someone else.
“So, will you talk to him for me? I’m sure he’ll listen to you.” She pressed. Kim mentally wielded Ruby to say yes.
“I can’t,” Ruby told her and her face fell.
“You can’t, but why not?” She asked, confused. It wasn’t like she had asked Ruby to do something outrageous for her, she just wanted her to talk to a guy.
“I can’t force or convince Damon to do anything he doesn’t want because he decided to break up with you in the first place. There’s nothing I can do about that.” Ruby explained but she still didn’t see the reason.
“I didn’t say force him, I said you should talk to him for me.” She told Ruby. Ruby simply shook her head.
“No, you aren’t getting it. Damon broke up with you which means he wanted to and it wouldn’t be right to talk him into doing something he doesn’t want to.” Ruby explained to her once again but she didn’t care for it. She had already gotten pissed from Ruby’s constant refusal.
“So you’re not going to do what I ask?” She asked, annoyed.
“No, but I can say I think he isn’t right for you and maybe that’s why the relationship didn’t work out. I suggest you move on with your life and someone definitely will come who would be worth it. Take it from me.” Ruby advised and she swore. She didn’t care one bit about meeting someone new. She wanted what she wanted and what she did want was getting Damon back.
She stepped back from Ruby as a scowl formed on her face.
“Why do you have to be such a bad sister?” She accused Ruby. Ruby only stood with her mouth open and stared back at her in shock.
