Ruby slowly opened the door to her room and peeped through the small gap before completely walking out.
She made sure that there was no sign of movement and tiptoed through the hallway. Just as she got to the stairs she saw Jaxon making his way up and the moment their eyes met, she gasped and made a dash to her room.
Jaxon glared at her retreating back as she ran and not long he heard a loud bang and the sound of the lock.
He shook his head and continued his journey to his room.
Ruby has been hiding away in her room since the night she had an argument with Jaxon and has also been avoiding him like the plague.
Jaxon didn’t feel bothered by this as he was also still angry about what transpired that night and wanted nothing to do with her for the time being, he felt glad that she was sensible enough to stay off his path.
Ruby felt like a child playing hide and seek whenever she sneaked downstairs to fetch her food or snacks from the kitchen.
It was lunch time now and Ruby was starving. Her stomach growled in hunger and she angrily sat on the bed.
She didn’t want to risk meeting Jaxon by going downstairs now but she was so hungry that she felt like she might faint.
She groaned as she came down from the bed and grumpily slid her feet into her flip flops. She made it down the hallway when she started hearing voices.
She halted and a gasp left her mouth as she heard a female voice.
To say she was surprised would be an understatement because from all she had heard so far, Jaxon was engaged in a conversation with the lady and she felt her blood boil in annoyance as she heard the woman giggle.
She went downstairs and her steps faltered when she saw Jaxon sitting on the couch with his legs spread before him and a beautiful woman sticking so close to him that it looked like she wanted to enter his body.
They were so busy talking that neither of them noticed her presence and her nose flared in annoyance as she felt like ripping off the hand that June placed on Jaxon’s arms.
Ruby was angry as she didn’t understand why June was in their house and why he allowed her to sit so close to him. She clenched her fist in annoyance as June leaned closer to Jaxon and sweetly as she said something that wasn’t audible to Ruby.
Ruby felt hurt that Jaxon allowed June to step foot into their home. The woman that Jaxon has ever brought home was his Nana and no one else so what changed? Why did he bring her here? And why did it have to be now that they were not on good terms?
Ruby had so many questions as she watched them sitting comfortably.
June was wearing a tight fitted armless red gown and her blonde hair was curled to perfection, just like the last time Ruby had seen her.
June’s boobs were almost spilling out of the gown and as she spoke to Jaxon she gently pressed them into his arms and Ruby felt like pouring boiling water on the exposed flesh.
She shifted her glare to Jaxon and noticed that he was holding a file and all his attention was on it even though he was engaged in a conversation with June.
Ruby felt offended as she couldn’t wrap her head around why he allowed June into their home and was speaking to her so freely in their living room when she was locked up in her room.
She faked a cough and they both looked at her. June smiled widely and tightened her arm around Jaxon as she stared straight into Ruby’s eyes.
“Hello, Ruby.” She greeted politely and Ruby felt her eyes twitch in anger as she glared back at her.
“It’s been so long, how are you?” June asked sweetly and Ruby felt like slapping that fake smile right off her face. Jaxon turned back to the paper he was holding without saying a word to Ruby.
“I was just asking Jaxon about you… I actually thought you weren’t around but here you are!” June said in a sarcastic tone and Ruby rolled her eyes.
“Yes, here I am because this is my home, not yours. What are you doing here?” Ruby laid emphasis on you and June’s smile faltered and she glared at Ruby in annoyance.
“As you can see Jaxon invited me over and we were having an amazing conversation before you walked in” June said coldly and placed one of her hands on Jaxon’s lap.
Ruby felt her anger spike and looked at Jaxon’s expecting him to push her arms off him but he did nothing. June gave her a sweet smile and Ruby could see the laughter and mockery in June’s eyes.
She felt clenched her fists and glared back at her with all the hatred she could muster. Ruby felt betrayed as Jaxon flipped the pages in the file without sparing her a glance.
She felt her heart ache as June tapped her fingers on his lap and pressed more of her boobs into his arms that she was holding like a lifeline.
Ruby felt her anger and frustration build up and at that moment she felt like beating both Jaxon and June to a pulp.
She felt insulted at the fact that he brought June into their home and was allowing another woman to touch him right before her eyes.
She felt, anger, frustration, sadness, betrayal, hurt and jealousy coursing through her veins as she stared at them and tears of anger welled up in her eyes.
Before the tears could fall and she made a mockery of herself in front of June she angrily turned around and stomped out.
June smirked in victory as she watched Ruby’s retreating back in satisfaction.
Ruby angrily banged her door and leaned on it, tears started streaming down her face and she slid down to the floor, with her face between her knees she cried.
