“Then you die.” Golden screamed and moved. In a split second she was in front of Felix grabbing her by the neck.
I was about to attack her when Felix moved across the room in a flash and slammed her against the wall, sinking her teeth in her neck.
His father was about to move when I quickly jumped, turning into my wolf in mid air and stood in front of him, growling loudly in warning.
Lee rushed to the door and placed his hand there.
“I’m sealing this damn room. You guys, tear these sons of bitches down.” He instructed as a shield began to rise from the ground.
“I don’t want to do this, but you leave me no choice.” Jordan said then raised his hand to strike with his claws.
Before I could dodge his attack, the twins pounced on him in their wolf form, ripping him into pieces while he screamed out in pain.
I turned into my human form and stood watching in shock.
What the hell was really going on?. weren’t they elders!. Why were they taken down so easily?.
In my mind I hoped for a better fight, better still a tough one.
I turned and looked at Felix who was looking at her mother laying on the ground struggling to breath.
Her throat was slit open and her body was badly trembling.
“S.. ma.. tha” She choked the words out then moved her hand to her chest and pulled off her necklace which was around her neck, throwing it at Felix’s feet.
“F… or a pure breed, you are pathetic.” She whispered then coughed.
Felix got to her knees and pressed her hand on Golden’s chest.
“I know….” She answered in a cracked voice.
“Mother.” She whispered then thrust her hand in her chest as Golden took in a sharp breath.
“You don’t deserve to live.” She said in a low voice then stayed still for a few seconds.
I could tell that she was hesitating to pull her heart out and that she was crying because she still cared for her.
“Ian, you promised to see her through.” Axel whispered softly.
Axel decided to stay out of Felix’s affairs because he didn’t want unnecessary bloodshed. At first I was against his decision but later on, I accepted it because I saw how reasonable it was.
I walked to her side and knelt down beside her.
“Remember what I told you before?” I asked.
She looked at me sadly with tears running down her face.
“Samantha, if you can’t kill her. I can.” I said then shifted into my wolf form and went for her Golden’s neck, ripping her head from her body as blood spluttered on my fur coat.
When I shifted back into my human form.
I was covered in blood and its bad taste was still in my mouth.
Felix was now sobbing loudly with her shoulders badly shaking.
Leo went to her side and knelt beside her, pulling her in his embrace.
“It was for the best.” He whispered to her softly.
I turned and looked at the twins who were standing in a pool of blood in their human form.
“Is it just me or was it a little too easy to take them down?” Evan asked.
“Damn, I thought the same too. How the hell did we take down the strongest two elders so easily?” Ryan asked.
“That’s because they didn’t fight back!. They acted as if they wanted to fight and attack us when in truth they didn’t. I have seen my parents fight a lot of times but this was their worst fight ever, they willingly let us attack them to death!” She cried out.
“Why would they do that?” Lee asked in a low tone.
“I don’t fucking know damn it!” She screamed then covered her bloody hands on her face.
I looked at the ground and noticed that the necklace Golden had thrown to Felix had a key.
“Um.. Samantha, I know this is not the right time to say this but, there is a key on her chain.” I pointed out.
She quickly turned and grabbed it in shock.
“This key opens her private chest which she has always kept in her bedroom.” She whispered then got to her feet and rushed upstairs.
“Ian, you might need to dress up. You are literally naked.” Leo said seriously when he stood up.
“Leave it to me.” Lee answered, then walked in front of me and touched my shoulder.
When I looked at myself I raised my brows in shock.
I was putting on a trousers and a vest.
“Wait, you can do this too?. If you are this powerful then why didn’t you just kill the Alpha king by yourself?”I asked on top of my voice.
“Because I was busy holding the shield Ian.” He answered then went to the twins.
I looked at Felix when she came downstairs with an old chest in her hands.
She immediately put it on the table and knelt down next to it as we all moved closer to see if it would really open with the very key.
“My mother went everywhere with this key.” She whispered then unlocked the chest carefully.
“She even told my father that the only way to take it away from her was if she was dead .” She said then opened it slowly.
When I saw a book with the words diary written on it, I huffed and shifted my gaze to the counter.
I was expecting something more grand or breathtaking. Perhaps title deeds to all the vampires’ secret places or ancient gold coins that most people were searching for, not a freaking diary!.
Who would want to read that old lady’s words anyway?.
“She would.” Axel answered.
I looked at Felix and watched as she flipped through it.
“There is nothing Written in her…”
She cut her words short when she reached the last three written pages of the diary.
“Samantha, my dear baby girl. If you are reading this, then it means that I am dead.” She read, then sniffed and continued.
“I was a very bad mother to you. Actually I was a monster and I’m to blame for all your sorrows and struggles. “What did I ever do to make you hate me so much?”. That question must have been tormenting you badly, that’s why I will answer it.” She sobbed then dropped the book on the table.
“I can’t do this, no I can’t.” She cried as Leo quickly went to her side, hugging her.
I moved and took the diary in my hands and continued to read.
“To begin with, I have never loved Jordan. Our marriage was based on power and duty. Jordan wasn’t your biological father either.” I stopped reading and swallowed hard as her cries got louder.
“Your biological father was my late lover. A man I chose to sire and turn into a vampire. He was the only one I had ever loved and cared for because he brought me so much joy and peace. But then my parents found out about us. They hated him so much because to them, he was just a peasant. While I was happy living my life, my parents were plotting with Jordan on how to kill the only man that I lived for.”
“If I was wiser then, maybe I could have saved him, but I was blinded by love until it was too late. They ripped his heart out and burnt his body to the ground, while I was held back by the elders of the coven to watch. That day was the day I died too.” I read sadly as tears formed in my eyes.
“When I discovered that I was pregnant with you, I didn’t know what to do or how to react. By then, I was already married to Jordan, but I kept away from him refusing to perform my wifely duties. When I knew I was going to have you soon, I seduced Jordan into sleeping with me more than once, and when my stomach began to grow, he was easily convinced that you were his child.”
“The day that you were born my little angel, you reminded me of your father. I couldn’t look at you without blaming myself for being so weak and letting him die. Because of my selfishness, I began to hate you for no reason. I hated what you were and I hated that you still looked at me like I was a good mother. To push you away from me, I had to mistreat you badly. I convinced the elders and Jordan into using you for our own benefits. I even humiliated you and did various bad things so that you would break. But just like your father, you were so strong and stood your ground.” I read then wiped off my tears with my hand.
“Leaving the coven was the best decision you could ever make. I knew you would get a shot at living a good life and that you would move on. That’s why I felt relieved. My baby, I know you still have a lot of questions to ask, and one of them is obviously, “Why did we set you up to come back here?”.
“The answer is simple, Jordan and I wanted to die by your hand. My angel, we have lived for a thousand years and done a lot of things we were not proud of. Both of us had regrets and we couldn’t continue living like that. We wanted to be set free, we wanted to die. Not for a while but forever. You my dear were the only one we could trust to go through with it.” I read as tears continued to roll down my cheeks.
My heart was aching very badly and I felt like I was the one going through all of it.
“Jordan and I won’t ask for your forgiveness, because we know you will never forgive us. That’s why we just want you to live your life to your fullest and always stay strong. If there is another life in this world, then I wish to be reborn as your mother. A mother that would love and protect you from everything.” I read then stopped when Felix stood up and rushed to the door, opening it and running out crying.
“Lee.” I called.
“I’m on it.” He answered and ran after her.
I closed the diary weakly and went down on my knees.
“This is too much to take in at once.” I whispered then looked at Leo whose eyes were red.
“She will need you a lot Leo. To be honest, she will need all of us to pull through this.” I said sadly then looked at the twins who sat on the sofa looking back at me with remorse.
“Alpha, we are really sorry about everything.” Ryan said then rubbed his hand against his trousers.
“I know.” I answered then sat down on the ground.
Everything was going bad, very bad for everyone.
