I settled down at Max Thomson’s place.
With nowhere else to go, I planned to rest for a while and think about what to do next.
On William Reid’s side, after Max’s surprise attack, everything had to start over. After half a month, he finally uncovered Max’s scheme.
He was gripping Erin Sutton by the hair, a gun pointed at her temple, demanding to see Max Thomson.
Max Thomson asked me with a smile:
“Are you going?”
I didn’t want to see William Reid.
Thinking of him made my heart ache, leaving me feeling unwell.
So I shook my head:
“I think I’ll pass. Haven’t I already ‘died’?”
He raised a hand, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, his eyes softening with affection:
“Do you want to see how he reacts when he finds out you’re alive?”
“You’ve advised him many times, but he refused to listen, choosing to keep a naive little rabbit by his side instead of you.”
“Now that he knows Erin Sutton deceived him, do you think he’ll go mad?”
I raised an eyebrow.
William Reid was always composed; since I met him, no matter what happened, he would only be dejected for one night and bounce back the next day.
I had never seen him go mad.
But I wasn’t entirely sure.
After all, he despised me so much that even in his final moments, he might choose my death without hesitation.
Would he go mad?
I feared that even if he did, it would be for the gang, not for me.
“Let’s go.”
Seeing me silent, Max Thomson took my hand.
“Come with me to see.”
