Erica’s POV
I was home alone with the kids and trying my best to concentrate on my work. Elsa and Ethan
were at each other’s throats and Elma was not bothering mesurprisinglybut rather, took
interest in her siblings’ bickering.
I was worried that they were beginning to have an influence on her. The only thing worse than
two squabbling kids was three.
My hands were zipping across the keyboard. I was trying to see if I could finish up the last lap of
my work and then stop the kids from taking their fight too far.
One more paragraph!
“And that is why the weekly budget should be in the range of…”
Ring! Ring!! Ring!!
My phone rang loudly and startled me. I gasped and grabbed my chest in fright. I was so
engrossed in the work that I had zoned out for a bit.
I glanced at my phone and didn’t recognize the number. I ignored it and continued to write. I had
to get this done as soon as…
Ring! Ring!
I was frustrated and immediately grabbed the phone. If it was Dante, I was going to…
“Hello?”
My voice was harsh but I heard a soft voice on the other end.
“Erica?”
I was stunned.
“Lorenzo? What…”
“Erica, I need you to listen to me very carefully.”
His voice was tense and was a strained whisper.
“Lorenzo, what is going on? Where are you? Why are you whispering? Why didn’t you call with
your phone?”
I was ranting like crazy. I was panicking. Was he in trouble? What was…
“Erica, I need you to calm down and listen. I’m in Blue Hades Pack airport but I am under arrest.
I…”
“Arrest?! What?! What happened?!”
“Erica just listen.”
My mouth clamped shut and I listened with my lips trembling slightly. I was terrified.
“Erica, I was coming to see you. Your dad sent me. At the airport, my bag was searched and they
found a bomb. I wasn’t the one who planted it but the border security didn’t believe me and they
arrested me. I don’t know what to do and I need you to come to the airport as soon as possible.”
My mind was spinning and I was faint. Bomb? Why was there a bomb in the bus bag? What was
going on? Was it the gem? Was Hazan after him?
My heart began to palpitate and I clutched my chest, trying my best to calm down.
“… rica? Erica? Hello?”
My oavicyhaf made me zone out on Lorenzo but I was able to regain myself.
“I…I’m here.”
“Did you hear what I said?” He inquired.
“Yes…yes. I’ll be…”
I soon heard grunting and brash voices in the background.
“Your time is up, Mr. Lorenzo! Give me the damn phone!”
There was a scuffle for a while and suddenly the line went dead. I sat on my chair in shock, trying
my best to comprehend the situation.
Lorenzo was in custody over a bomb?! How did he get to have it in the first place?!
With a second thought, I jumped out of my chair and grabbed my coat that lay carelessly on the
sofa.
“Mum..?”
“I need to go out, kids. It’s an emergency. Ethan, you’re in charge. I’ll be back soon.”
The kids didn’t bicker about why Ethan was in charge but watched me with worry written all over
their faces.
My keys? My keys? Where were they?
I found them on my desk and grabbed them. I dashed out of the door and jumped into my car.
My body was tingling with panic and I nearly forgot how to put the car key in the ignition.
I fumbled for a while and finally got the key inside. I pulled out of the driveway at an amazing
speed and zoomed down the road.
I reached the main intersection and hit the brakes. Why did there have to be so much traffic
here?
I honked my horn angrily but it did nothing to get the cars in front of me moving.
The longer I stayed in traffic, the more worried I became. Was Lorenzo hurt? Was it an active
bomb?
Finally, the traffic began to move. I stepped on the accelerator and zoomed past a police officer.
He yelled at me to stop but I ignored him and said continued to race to the airport.
I drew closer and closer and I stretched my neck as much as I could to see if there was any
damage to the building, or if there was a possibility that anyone was seriously hurt.
I could see the fire department, police, and ambulance parked around the perimeter and their
personnel were running up and down.
“Oh no. Oh no.”
I zoomed faster and soon heard a siren behind me. The police officer that I had zoomed past
earlier had given chase.
“Madam in the black Sedan with plate number GSD0638, stop at once.”
My heart was beating even faster. The police officers in the front heard the call and didn’t waste
any time in forming a roadblock to stop me.
“Ma’am, this is your final warning.”
I looked ahead and saw that I was completely surrounded. I had no choice.
I stepped on the brakes with all my might and my car came to a screeching stop.
I got out of the car and was immediately swarmed by the police.
I didn’t resist and they cuffed me and pinned me against the car.
“Ma’am, do you have any idea how fast you were going?”
“I am sorry,” I said apologetically. “But my husband is inside the building. He was there with the
bomb and…”
I didn’t even get to finish my explanation and they immediately added ‘accomplice to terrorism’
to my offenses.
I was trying to get them to listen to me and a black jeep pulled up in front of us.
A figure stepped out and I heard a familiar voice call my name.
“Erica?”
I looked up and saw Dante walking towards me with a grim expression.
“Dante?”
“Erica, what the hell are you doing here?…”
