Dante’s POV
“Erica, what the hell are you doing here?”
I saw her struggling lightly with the police as they held her.
“What is going on here?” I demanded angrily.
The head officer walked up to me and gave me a polite bow.
“She was speeding and when we stopped her, she revealed that she was the wife of the man
involved in the bombing, so we arrested her as a potential accomplice.”
I snarled and asked the men to release her.
“But, Alpha…”
“Do you dare to question me?!” I snapped furiously.
The officers slinked back and whimpered in fear.
“N…no, Alpha.”
“Good. Release her at once and I will pay for any damages or tickets that she might have incurred
for the speeding.”
They immediately let Erica go and she stared at me with suspicion mixed with hate.
I ignored her and we both walked in. The airport looked fine to me. There were no injured people
though the border security, fire department, and medical units were rushing around.
I received a call about the bombing while I was at the office. I had to rush over as soon as
possible and see what was going on.
I didn’t know that the person involved in the bombing was Lorenzo until I saw Erica there.
She walked briskly towards the arrival terminal and the destruction began to creep on us. There
was debris everywhere: Bits of rubber and plastic, seered leather, and singed clothes.
The closer that we got to the bomb site, the worse the destruction became.
I saw Erica cover her mouth with her hands as she looked around in horror. I even thought that I
saw a tear glimmer in her eyes.
I gritted my teeth and clenched my fist. How dare she care and love a man that did this to a pack,
that put thousands of people’s lives at stake?
“Alpha Dante?”
I heard a voice call my name and I whipped my head around to see that it was the border security
officer.
“Officer Dean.”
He walked up to me and gave me a brief handshake.
“The destruction seems to be minimal. It was very deadly but judging by the radius, the bomb
was only meant to kill…”
“Where is he?”
My voice was grim and dark. I saw the officer gulp at the intensity of my demeanor and Erica
looked at me in fearful surprise.
I was in no mood at all. I wanted to see Lorenzo. I was going to bring him to justice and make him
pay for his crimes, especially his crime of taking Erica from me.
“Uhh…he’s in the questioning room on your right…”
I bolted off and heard Erica walk briskly behind me, struggling to catch up.
My eyes were narrowed and my breathing was heavy and full of hate. I didn’t want Lorenzo
nearly Erica. This was my chance to get him out of the way.
I reached the interrogation room and flung the door open.
“Lor…”
“Darling!”
Erica finally caught up with me and pushed me aside. She ran to Lorenzo and flung herself in his
arms. She kissed him deeply, like a long-lost lover and the jealousy in my heart became raw and
unbridled.
When she finally pulled away from him, he began to dote on him. Checking his face and arms for
injuries.
“Are you hurt? What happened? Your lip!”
“Erica,” he took her hand gently and kissed her palm lovingly. “I’m okay. I’m just lucky that I am
alive.”
I clenched my fist so hard that I heard all my bones crack at once. I couldn’t take it anymore.
“Step away from him, Erica.”
She looked at me in horror.
“Dante…”
“Do as I say, else you will be charged with terrorism.”
Lorenzo looked at me in shock and Erica was even pale.
“Dante, do you really believe that I would do this on purpose?” He asked me, in surprise. “We
went to college together. You know me better than this.”
I scoffed.
“You walked in here with a bomb. How did you wield a bomb by ‘accident’?”
“Dante, I didn’t do it. You have to believe me. I came here to see my fiancee. Nothing. She is the
only business that I have in this pack.”
He pulled Erica defensively close to him and my rage rose even more. Watching his hands on my
woman was pain and agony. I wanted to pounce on him and end him. Erica wasn’t his.
“Erica, for the last time. Step away from him.”
“No. You aren’t taking him anywhere. I won’t allow it. There is no evidence that proves he is
guilty.”
“Open your eyes, Erica! What other evidence do you need?”
“I believe, Lorenzo. If he didn’t do it, then he didn’t do it. Someone could have framed him.”
I ignored her. I wasn’t going to have any of this. Erica was mine and I was determined to get him
away from her at all costs.
“Take him away. Lock him up and charge him with treason and terrorism. We shall set a court
date soon.”
I stormed out but not before I heard Lorenzo calling out to me.
“Dante?! What?! You can’t do this! Dante, come back here!”
I walked out and headed down the hallway angrily. I didn’t take long before I heard footsteps
running behind me. I turned around and a hand landed on my cheek.
“Fuck!”
I grabbed my face in pain and found myself staring into Erica’s angry eyes.
“How could you, Dante! You know that Lorenzo is innocent?”
I snarled and dragged her aside into a dark and lonely lobby.
“Let go of me! Let go…”
I slammed her into a wall and she grunted in pain. I looked at her hateful demeanor and she
struggled with me.
“Let me go! Dante!”
“Erica, what is wrong with you?! He is a traitor. He doesn’t love you! He was carrying a bomb.
What would have happened if he went home and it exploded? He could have killed you. He
wanted to kill you!”
“You are crazy, Dante! You know that Lorenzo would never do that. I know what you are trying to
do. You want to get Lorenzo out of my life but you will never. I love him and you know that he is
innocent!”
I pressed myself against her and leaned in close to her. She was sweaty and her breath was rapid
and shallow. This was how she felt when I had her moaning beneath me. When I had her
moaning my name.
“I will not let him have you! You are mine!”
“I am not yours, Dante. You gave up on me. You left me when I needed you. You threw me out of
your life and now that someone else loves me, you suddenly want me back. You are selfish!”
I grabbed her arm and pinned it against the wall. I tried to press my lips against hers but she
whipped her head away.
“Stay away from me. Release Lorenzo and drop all the charges against him or we can forget about
the war and then gem. I will leave your pack and head back to mine. I would rather die in my
pack than take you back.”
I stepped away from her and looked her in the eyes. They were dark and furious. Her expression
was prickly and unpleasant.
“Erica…”
“I meant what I said, Dante. Don’t test me…”
