Tilda’s words left Rosalind stunned.
Unconsciously, she recalled what Kennard had just said.
“I am the only family you have left in this world…”
“Only me…”
No!
She still had the child in her womb!
Rosalind suddenly looked up and met Tilda’s eyes.
The wind rustled, making a soft sound.
For once, Tilda was smart. She cleared her throat, “You don’t mean to-”
“I won’t let Ulric know,” Rosalind said softly but firmly.
“No! Do you know how hard it is to be a single mother?” Tilda had a relative who was a single mother, and she knew all too well the hardships. Besides, Rosalind should know too; wasn’t her own mother like that?
“I know.”
“Then why would you-”
Before Tilda could finish, Malcolm, who had been standing silently beside them, covered her mouth. “Rosalind, whether you want to keep the child or not is your choice. Just make sure you’re certain.”
“Never mind, I was just talking,” Rosalind lowered her lashes, her voice calm yet hollow. “I’m a bit tired. I’ll go sit in the car for a while. There’s still some business at the funeral home; I’ll go back later.”
“Alright!”
Watching her return to the car, Tilda shook off Malcolm’s hand and frowned in confusion. “Why did you stop me? Why support her in keeping the child? Rosalind has decided to cut ties with the Walters family. This child will be nothing but a burden!”
Though Tilda didn’t want to describe an unborn child this way, it was the harsh reality.
Rosalind had just started to make some headway in Northville City, and now this happened. Leaving W Group meant starting over from scratch. Adding a child to raise on top of that-how could she possibly manage?
“Did you notice that Rosalind has lost her will to live?”
“What?”
Malcolm frowned and sighed lightly. “She’s not crying or making a fuss; she’s calmly handling everything. That means she’s preparing for something.”
“No way, Rosalind said she would find out the truth and make those people pay.”
“Do you really think that even you know going head-to-head with the Walters family is like hitting a stone with an egg, and Rosalind wouldn’t know that?” Malcolm’s gaze shifted to the car parked by the roadside, his eyes growing darker. “She’s prepared for the worst-if she can’t get justice, she’ll take down the culprits with her.”
From the moment she found out she was pregnant and immediately said she didn’t want the child, Malcolm had vaguely guessed her intentions.
Because Rosalind loved Ulric; he wasn’t blind, he could see that. So logically, how could she decide to abort without hesitation? There should have been a period of internal struggle.
“…”
“So we should persuade her to keep the child and slowly guide her. As the child grows day by day, Rosalind will become attached.”
Tilda thought for a moment, her expression becoming strange. After a while of silence, she said, “Brother, I originally thought that since Rosalind finally separated from Ulric, you’d have a chance. Though it’s despicable, I really hope you can be with Rosalind. She’s a good girl and deserves to be loved properly! But if she has Ulric’s child…”
“Do you think I can’t accept a child?”
Tilda was shocked. “You don’t mind?!”
“Right now, this child is the only thing keeping Rosalind from doing something foolish. He is her lifeline.”
