“Ah…” Tilda suddenly realized, “But she just said to forget it! No, I have to go and persuade her.”
Tilda was someone who couldn’t keep things to herself. Once she knew something, she wanted to act on it immediately.
Malcolm, feeling helpless, quickly pulled her back. “Don’t go just yet! This needs to be handled gradually. Right now, her emotions are unstable. She’ll definitely need someone to accompany her to the hospital, and there’s no one else but you or me. We still have time to change her mind.”
“Okay.” Tilda nodded, then looked at him with a newfound respect. “Are you prepared to accept Rosalind and her child with Ulric?”
Malcolm gave a bitter smile. “Do I have a choice? Rosalind has never accepted me.”
It had always been a one-sided affair for him.
“Sigh.” Tilda pursed her lips and could only say dryly, “She’s just afraid of being a burden to others… She’s had such a hard life.”

In the car, Rosalind couldn’t tell if she was asleep or awake.
It was that feeling of suddenly losing all hope and direction in life. The thing she had been obsessing over had finally come to an end, and now she had nothing left. She didn’t even know what would motivate her to continue living if she really found the evidence and uncovered the truth.
In a daze, Rosalind vaguely heard her phone ringing.
She lifted her numb arm and saw several missed calls from Ulric.
Rosalind didn’t want to hear his voice; it would only remind her of the Walters family! She would think of how those people used the most vicious words and cruel expressions to provoke Mrs. Eva, leading to her sudden heart attack and death!
Eva had been trying so hard to matchmake her with Malcolm, planning for her beloved daughter’s future, persuading with tough love…
She had shown no signs of suicidal tendencies during that time!
When she saw her mother’s body, Rosalind had only one thought-
Why wasn’t it me who died?
If she hadn’t met Ulric again, if she hadn’t married him, none of this would have happened, and it wouldn’t have ended with losing her mother!
She couldn’t blame Ulric for anything because he was innocent; she could only hate herself.
A “ding” sound interrupted her thoughts.
This time it wasn’t a call but a WeChat notification.
Rosalind lowered her eyes; it was a message from Ulric.
[Come back to Easthaven Bay. I’m waiting for you. Even if we’re getting divorced, we need to sign the agreement in person.]
She rubbed the phone screen with her fingers over and over again but ultimately didn’t reply.
After a while, Malcolm and Tilda got into the car. Seeing her haggard and pale face, Malcolm said in a deep voice, “I’ll take you to Tilda’s place to rest for a while! You can’t sleep well in the car. You need to regain your strength to face what’s coming.”
“Yes! Come to my place. I promise I won’t disturb your rest,” Tilda echoed.
Rosalind gently shook her head. When she spoke, her voice was hoarse beyond recognition. “Take me back to Easthaven Bay.”
“What do you want to do there?” Tilda immediately thought of what her cousin had said earlier and feared that Rosalind might want to end things with Ulric once and for all. She quickly said, “My place is closer, and I can take care of you. Don’t go back to that sad place.”
“Tilda, Ulric agreed to the divorce. I’m going back to sign the agreement.”
