Watching Ulric’s car disappear from sight, Rosalind turned around with a smile and headed back to the company.
Suddenly!
Sirena appeared out of nowhere, stepping closer in her high heels.
Rosalind really didn’t want to deal with her; she had a ton of things to do and no time to get entangled with Sirena every day.
“You don’t need to avoid me. Today is the last time I’ll speak to you alone.”
Sirena had a floral-scented perfume that was quite noticeable when she got close.
Rosalind didn’t like the smell at all.
She took a step back. “What do you want to say?”
“Leave Ulric, or the consequences will be more than you can handle.”
Sirena’s words carried a threatening tone.
Although she didn’t raise her voice or sound particularly fierce, for some reason, her words weighed heavily on Rosalind’s heart.
“What are you planning now? Sirena, just because you and your mother took away the family that should have been mine, I haven’t done anything to hurt you. But you keep framing and threatening me. Don’t think I’m a pushover!”
Everyone has a breaking point, and Rosalind didn’t know what would happen when she reached hers.
But Sirena just smiled.
“You and your mother took what didn’t belong to you. Sooner or later, you’ll have to give it back honestly, or you’ll pay the price! This isn’t my doing; it’s yours and your mother’s greed!”
“Don’t you dare talk about my mother!”
Sirena raised her hands in mock surrender. “Fine, I won’t. I’ve delivered my message today, mission accomplished. I can leave now! Rosalind, if it weren’t for Caesar insisting I come, I wouldn’t have bothered.”
Rosalind frowned. “Ulric’s father sent you.”
“Did you really think I was so kind-hearted as to come repeatedly to remind you not to challenge the Walters family’s limits? I most want to see you and your mother driven out of W Group and this city like stray dogs.” Sirena turned to leave but stopped after a few steps, slightly turning her head. “I’m not lying. Today is the last time.”
…
Rosalind had a busy day at work. Cedric seemed eager for her to quickly get involved in complete projects, so he handed over the reports directly to her.
When she was overwhelmed, Cedric even had her submit materials on his behalf and run authorization errands at the Bureau of Commerce and Industry.
After such an exhausting day, Rosalind thought she would sleep soundly. But after returning to Easthaven Bay, Sirena’s words kept replaying in her mind.
She said today was the last time.
Honestly, those words made Rosalind inexplicably anxious and unsettled.
She picked up her phone, intending to message Ulric about it but ultimately didn’t send anything…
Sirena had said that Ulric’s father sent her. If she told Ulric, it would definitely cause a fight between him and his father! She couldn’t imagine what would happen next.
Rosalind didn’t want Ulric to argue with his family because of her again! His mother’s illness was even more severe than Eva’s.
“Ding-”
As if telepathically connected, Ulric’s WeChat message came through at that moment.
[Just finished work. Are you at Easthaven Bay?]
[Yes.]
[In half an hour, I’ll have my assistant bring you dinner. Open the door.]
Rosalind was about to say it wasn’t necessary when Ulric’s second message came through: [Don’t make excuses. I know you haven’t eaten.]
