The man felt a surge of anger and his tone grew colder. “What are you doing here?”
“Documents need signing.” The woman’s delicate hand climbed up his chest, buttoning his shirt one by one. She saw the kiss marks but remained indifferent. “I didn’t mean to walk in on this. Talk to her properly later, don’t upset her…”
Before she could finish, the man grabbed her hand forcefully, his eyes narrowing. “You really don’t care?”
Callie looked up naturally. “Care about what?”
Nelson lowered his head slightly, looking into her shimmering eyes and was momentarily at a loss. Yes, what did he want her to care about?
He frowned, his expression stern. “If you ask, I will explain.”
Callie lowered her eyes, then reopened them, seductive and alluring. “But I don’t really want to know.”
Nelson could see through her emotions. “So, what do you want me to do?”
“If necessary, I can step down.” Callie said directly.
“Say that again!” he demanded.
“If necessary, I can step…”
“Say it again!”
“If necess…”
The man’s breath suddenly closed in, sealing her lips with a kiss.
Their lips and tongues intertwined, breaking through her teeth, delving deeply. The familiar taste invaded for less than five seconds before the man was forcefully pushed away.
Their chests heaved violently as they glared at each other like two trapped beasts, facing their most hated enemy in the world.
Callie breathed heavily, her mind in a daze. She didn’t know why she pushed him away; she just felt a bit nauseous at their intimate contact.
“Callie? Are you jealous?” The man asked sincerely, his eyes wide open.
Callie wavered, looking at the man who remained stern even in the women’s restroom. He lowered his head slightly and asked the question with utmost seriousness.
Callie’s momentum diminished significantly, and she laughed in anger. “Sorry, Mr. Oconnor, why would I be jealous? It’s just being disheveled with a woman in the ladies’ room, nothing substantial happened. She just kissed you a few times. I’m not that petty.”
After hearing this, Nelson pressed his hand to his forehead and took two steps closer to her. “A partner had ulterior motives. She lured me here with a scheme. I didn’t know she was here beforehand.”
Callie calmly stepped back two steps. “Really? With Mr. Oconnor’s intelligence, you wouldn’t understand this was a trap? Yet you still came.”
If she hadn’t walked in, how far would they have gone?
Callie wasn’t usually so tactless. When he explained this much, she should have let it go, but she didn’t. Instead, she kept stepping on landmines.
Nelson didn’t realize anything was wrong; his patience was nearing its end. He squinted, a sharp light flashing in his eyes. “Callie, that’s enough.”
Is this all it takes for him to stop listening?
Callie almost laughed. Maybe hearing his ruthlessness towards her firsthand made her feel a sense of determination born from desperation. “Yes, it’s enough. If we were to recount Mr. Oconnor’s romantic escapades, it would take three days and nights and still not be enough. After all, you have so many female companions.”
And she, the legitimate wife, was as insignificant as an ant.
These words brought out Nelson’s true anger; he could barely hold back the harsh words. “Callie, what exactly are you upset about? I’ve already settled the plagiarism issue for you; you haven’t lost anything.”
He still thought he was being considerate of her, but Callie felt even more heartbroken.
