Chapter 290: Calling in a Favor

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-10-15

Shamar and Callie went from surprised to extremely surprised. How could they not understand the significance of this? It was a mark of absolute trust!
Callie opened the document, and a magnetic male voice added calmly, “Of course, there’s one condition. As I said before, during the trial period, profits must exceed nine figures within six months.”
Suddenly, no one felt like opening the document. They knew with Nelson’s strict standards, it wouldn’t be easy to pass his test.
Callie quickly read through the document and found it acceptable. Shamar nodded as well. “If Nelson truly values me, I will give it my all.”
Nelson’s lips curved slightly.
He stood up and left the meeting room; there was still a lot of work to be done.
After the meeting, Callie had an urge to call this difficult man but then remembered he was probably in another meeting and dismissed the idea.
In the business world, secrets don’t stay hidden for long. Nelson’s trust in Shamar quickly spread, and the recent exposure made him almost famous.
Everyone was saying that Nelson was grooming him as his successor.
As night fell, Callie had just finished her work. The entire Oconnor Group was busy with a recent project, and the design department was involved. The final highlight of the e-commerce promotion was one of the apartments in the Oconnor Group’s complex.
She prepared the necessary materials, and Shamar came down to collect them. During this time, he ran into Nelson.
“Nelson, what brings you here?”
The man sat in Callie’s chair, dressed in a well-tailored suit.
He asked with a faint smile, “Here to pick up Callie. Is everything going smoothly?”
Callie’s computer was password-protected. Nelson entered her birthday but couldn’t unlock it.
“Smoothly,” Shamar replied, handing over a cup of coffee. “You can rest assured.”
Nelson didn’t respond and tried his own birthday, still no luck.
He tried their wedding anniversary, but it still didn’t unlock. With a helpless smile, he gave up.
“Where is Callie?”
“I haven’t seen her. She just notified me to pick up the materials.”
Nelson didn’t ask further and let him go. Then he tidied up her messy desk, stacked the documents neatly, collected all the pens, and set aside the laptop.
Callie returned from the restroom to see her secretary waiting outside the door, who winked at her.
Callie pushed the door open and saw Nelson walking towards her. “Why did you come down?”
Nelson’s gaze fell on her wet hands, understanding most of it. “Waiting to take you home.”
They hadn’t spent much time together lately. Callie felt a bit shy. “Did you have that news retracted?”
Nelson raised an eyebrow. “Are you angry?”
“No, just surprised,” Callie shook her head.
They returned to Paucaster Villa Complex where the servants had already prepared dinner. During the meal, she received a call from an unknown number.
“It’s Regan,” the voice on the other end was straightforward.
Callie exchanged a glance with Nelson. “I recognized your voice.”
Nelson rolled up his shirt sleeves to his elbows and used serving spoon to give her her favorite dishes without saying a word.
“You said last time you owed me a favor. It’s time to repay it,” Regan said confidently.
“Tell me what you need,” Callie felt more at ease since Regan was upfront about calling in the favor.
“I want to join Oconnor Group’s design department. You need to talk to Nelson.”
The goal was clear; it seemed she had planned this for a while.
Callie glanced at Nelson again. Regardless of Regan’s motives, she had no reason to refuse.
“What position do you want?”
“Deputy Director.”
