After a moment of shock, they hurriedly helped the fallen Kevin to his feet. The tall man still clutching his companion stammered, “Y-you wait! I’m going to call my boss!”
Kayden replied quietly, his gaze fixed firmly on the tall man, “Don’t forget to bring him here. I’ll be waiting.”
This was the first thing Kayden had said, and it was cold enough to send shivers down their spines. The intensity of his gaze unsettled the tall man, and after managing to lift the unconscious Kevin, they hurriedly fled.
Once they were gone, Mya finally released Kayden’s arm, panting, “That scared me.”
Kayden turned to her and shook his head in disbelief. “I didn’t expect you to be so assertive.”
Mya stuck out her tongue. “They were just talking nonsense. I wouldn’t let them bully me. But since they were saying all that about you, why didn’t you scare them back?”
Kayden smirked slightly, “I didn’t get the chance.”
Mya didn’t press further but shifted the topic. “By the way, who exactly are you? Do you know who that Alfie Lowe is that they mentioned?”
Without hesitation, Kayden answered, “Yeah, just a useless loser.”
Mya blinked, taken aback. Alfie Lowe was someone who commanded respect in the north, and for Kayden to dismiss him as useless seemed incredibly arrogant. Yet, she couldn’t help but admire Kayden’s boldness. It was something she had never encountered before.
“I knew marrying the first beauty of Hiphia wasn’t a coincidence. A person as remarkable as you must be incredibly cool. Your wife is so lucky to have such a cold husband,” she remarked, echoing what Lacey had said earlier.
In Hiphia, people typically didn’t consider Georgia lucky for marrying Kayden.
Before Kayden could respond, his brow furrowed as the group of muscular men reappeared at the entrance of Moon Viewing Restaurant, accompanied by several burly men and a young man dressed like a cold-blooded assassin. The youth had white hair, wore a white suit, and his face was dusted with white powder, his eyes accentuated with makeup, giving him an unusually chilling appearance.
“Mr. Cooper, that’s him!” one of Kevin’s companions pointed at Kayden, speaking with menace.
“Hey!” Mya called out, raising her voice, “We let you go earlier. What are you back for?”
The tall man shot back, “What do you think I’m back for? This is Mr. Leon Cooper, a representative of the new power in Hiphia.”
Mya’s brows furrowed involuntarily upon hearing the name.
She had heard of Leon Cooper, a formidable figure rumored to have ousted a rival organization and ordered his men to kill several people.
The tall man had originally gone to find his boss Alfie to settle the score but ran into Leon, who happened to be dining at Moon Viewing Restaurant. After hearing about the tall man’s troubles inside, Leon immediately offered to help him out of friendship and to gain support for his burgeoning influence.
“Did you give my good friend a hard time?” the man in the white suit asked coldly, then took out a match to light a cigarette. After a couple of deep puffs, he exhaled a cloud of smoke, flicked the match to the ground, and continued to approach Kayden.
His demeanor and style made it clear he was not someone to be trifled with.
Kayden didn’t even bother sizing up this loser and stepped forward toward him.
But just a few steps in, Mya intercepted Kayden, her voice low. “Mr. Scott, please don’t act impulsively. This guy is different from Alfie. Alfie has no background, but this one does. He’s a cousin of the Vincent family. Do you know the Vincent family? They’re the second most powerful family in Hiphia! Their head, Coleman Vincent, is the chairman of the Seclela Tai Chi Association. He’s well-known.”
The Vincent family was indeed a force to be reckoned with. Leon was leveraging his connection to them to build his influence. Seeing the tall man and his companions being bullied, he immediately offered his assistance.
Kayden didn’t waste his breath on anything else, dismissively stating, “It’s fine.”
“Fine?”
Mya gulped at his words, unsure if he truly didn’t fear them or simply didn’t realize how dangerous they were. Perhaps he was a tough guy, unafraid for himself, but didn’t he worry about his wife? Their methods far exceeded his expectations. She felt Kayden pushing her forward but quickly said, “No, don’t go! You have no idea how serious this is.”
Kayden appeared somewhat impatient, but Mya insisted, “I’m telling you, this guy knows martial arts. He’s not to be messed with. There have been people who crossed him and ended up dead, and somehow, that incident was buried.”
Kayden remained indifferent, thinking that even if he wanted to deal with this person, Coleman Vincent would have to watch from the sidelines.
Before Kayden could move closer, Leon discarded his half-smoked cigarette and pulled out a shiny dagger. The knife was short, only about the length of a finger, but it was razor-sharp. He approached Kayden, coldly asking, “Which hand did you use to hit my friend?”
It seemed he intended to cripple the hand that struck his companion.
However, Leon was about to learn that it would be his hand that would face dire consequences! There were far too many people in this world who couldn’t gauge the situation.
Before Kayden could reply, an unusual sound suddenly emerged from outside.
It sounded like the wind, tinged with an eerie quality, making it all feel strange and out of the ordinary.
“What’s that noise?” someone questioned, and everyone turned their gaze around, searching for the source.
Since the sound was clear indoors, it wasn’t just a bicycle bell. Some curious onlookers even rushed to the door to investigate. To their shock, what they found outside was an astonishing scene!
The once bustling street outside Moon Viewing Restaurant was now eerily quiet, completely unlike its usual liveliness. This wasn’t late at night; it would be understandable if such a scene occurred then.
Though this area wasn’t the heart of the city, it shouldn’t be this deserted! After all, it was close to several main roads.
As they struggled to comprehend the surreal sight before them, another bizarre event unfolded.
