A chill ran down Georgia’s spine, and her hair stood on end. Tears welled in her eyes.
She knew all too well that Kayden was merely an ordinary man. His arrival might offer a glimmer of hope, but it would be like throwing straws against the wind if he came alone. After all, he wasn’t a superhero!
Their enemies had firearms! Once the trigger was pulled, no amount of courage from Kayden would spare him from death.
The last ray of hope in her heart now lay shattered. She wished Kayden wouldn’t show up at all.
Georgia felt great panic at the thought. She anxiously lifted her head and exclaimed, “No, Kayden won’t come. He’s too timid to take such risks. Your task is to take my life, then just do it!”
Damian burst into laughter. He said in a mocking tone, “What a devoted woman you are! I almost envy your husband for having such a loyal, beautiful wife. But don’t worry, your husband won’t abandon you. He’ll definitely come to save you. And I won’t let you die alone-I’ll make sure he comes to join you.”
“All the gunmen, take positions on the second floor!” he issued his orders to the crowd.
The crowd moved swiftly, dashing to what Damian called the “second floor,” which was actually the warehouse catwalk. It gave them a clear view of everything below.
“The rest, hide yourselves on the ground floor. Once that guy shows up, it’s your time to attack. If he survives that, those on the second floor will finish him off,” Damian continued to give his orders.
A scornful smile spread across Cheetah’s face as he heard these orders. “You’re kidding, right? There are at least two thousand five hundred guys down there. Just one spit from each would drown him! You’re making a big deal out of this.”
Damian said nothing, merely casting a glance at Cheetah before settling into his chair.
Georgia’s pleas buzzed in his ear like an annoying insect. With a snap of irritation, he commanded, “Shut her up!”
Cheetah wasted no time and gagged her again. Her cries were reduced to stifled, helpless whimpers.
…
In another place, Tony Scoot could barely contain his rage after being driven away by those burly men. He was just one step away from success.
He lured Georgia to a quiet alley under the pretense of treating her to the milk tea. It was supposed to be the perfect moment. He’d successfully put the knockout drops into her drink, and just as it started to take effect, the unexpected happened.
A band of armed thugs stormed in, yelling at him and forcing him to leave. Tony realized they’re definitely not someone he could provoke lightly, so he had no choice but to back off.
He could only watch his “prey” be snatched away. Yet, he didn’t stray far. He hid somewhere and watched them drag Georgia to a van.
Tony was baffled by the intentions of them, but anyway, he couldn’t let his plan fail so easily. So, he followed them to this place-a rundown old warehouse, once used for production.
He pondered over the identity of the group, suspecting that it might have something to do with Georgia’s husband, Kayden. He guessed Kayden had probably offended some powerful people, and that’s why he fled to Inassea, leaving Georgia alone to face the consequences.
Tony felt a surge of indignation toward Kayden’s cowardly actions, but to him, all was in the past now. He had only wanted to get close to Georgia, yet his plans now failed, and he was left with nothing but regret.
If those people hadn’t appeared, he might already be indulging in pleasures with Georgia at the hotel, savoring her sweetness. But reality was harsh. He lost his job, and he now harbored a grudge against Georgia. He craved a chance to “teach her a lesson” as well as to cuckold Kayden.
However, all these thoughts turned into his wishful thinking. Tony realized that Georgia might have a slim chance to escape when facing so many gangsters, especially those big shots. He sighed with a mix of resignation and regret.
Just as Tony was about to turn and leave, a sudden gust of wind whipped through the air, nearly knocking him off his feet.
When the wind subsided, he looked up and found in astonishment that several helicopters were hovering overhead. Their sleek design and armor plating made it clear that they weren’t average civilian aircraft.
He immediately recognized them as military-grade helicopters in Battlefield, the same kind he had seen during his time in the army.
The helicopters slowly descended, and then several burly men dressed in combat uniforms and armed with rifles jumped out. They all had a stalwart figure but a grim expression that seemed unnatural.
Then, a convoy of armored military vehicles rolled in, packed with soldiers who were in the same attire and with the same expressions. On the side of the vehicles painted the emblem “Nine Dragons.”
In an instant Tony knew who they were, the Nine Dragons’ Souls, an elite unit of Battlefield. Only the best of the best in this country could even dream of joining their ranks.
Tony stood there, and his jaw dropped in disbelief. He never dreamed he’d witness the members of Nine Dragons’ Souls with his own eyes. For him, it was an utterly incredible experience.
