Chapter 148: A Vast Crowd with Unstoppable Aura!

Book:Back To Thrones Published:2024-10-15

Georgia felt overwhelmed by despair and helplessness as she stared at Britton’s eyes that would never close. She couldn’t bear the thought of being the cause of anyone’s death. In that case, it would leave her conscience forever burdened.
The commotion inside the room seemingly had drawn the attention of the people outside. Just then, a group of men rushed in. Yet the moment they took in the scene before them, they all instinctively stepped back. Terror was etched on their faces.
They were not frightened by the sight of Britton’s lifeless body kneeling on the floor. What truly scared them was that fat guy’s body, which was riddled with holes.
Damian’s expression changed sharply, like a storm cloud rolling in. “Get the fuck out!” he roared out his command.
“Get out! All of you!” Cheetah quickly echoed.
Damian had already taken two lives in such a short time. His ruthlessness far surpassed those street thugs like them. Thus, everyone quickly retreated at the sound of Cheetah’s command.
Cheetah flashed a grin and hurried forward to flatter, “Damian, you are truly brave, strong, and invincible!”
“Absolutely, you are invincible!” Kent hurriedly showed his approval.
Yet, Damian showed little appreciation for their praise and merely darted them a sneer. “Hang his body from that beam,” he ordered in a cold tone.
They both looked up and did find a sturdy steel beam. It looked solid enough.
They exchanged glances. They were brimming with questions, but the words caught in their throats. Even though they considered themselves the king of Hiphia Underworld, this man before them was far more terrifying.
Not long after, Britton’s body was hung by a rope from the beam, the saber still lodged in its throat. It felt like a way of showing off victory. In ancient battles, people usually hung enemy corpses from city walls for similar reasons.
As Damian gazed at Britton’s body, a smug smirk danced on his lips.
Since that day, he had rarely encountered a worthy opponent, yet this man had managed to withstand him for a whole minute.
He felt a mix of surprise and shock, accompanied by a thrill at the challenge.
It was a pity that this man could only hold out for such a brief moment. How exhilarating it would have been if they could fight a few more rounds! Looking at Britton’s corpse, Damian even felt a flicker of respect, but there were more pressing matters awaiting his attention.
“Damian, can we finish this woman off now?” Cheetah’s voice was laced with anticipation.
Damian turned his gaze toward Georgia, and slightly shook his head. “Not yet.”
Cheetah’s excitement faltered. “Why?” he asked.
“No particular reason. I’ve got something more pressing to handle first,” Damian answered.
He shifted his attention back to Georgia, his voice cutting through the tension like a blade. “Who is your husband?”
Georgia, who had been drowning in despair, suddenly felt a surge of defiance. Her eyes blazed with unwavering determination as she answered, “Someone you’d never dare to cross! When he comes, you will meet your end.”
Even Georgia was taken aback by the fire in her own words.
Damian let out a mocking laugh. “Oh really? I’d like to see him try. Give me his number. I’ll call him here, right now. If he can kill me, you are free. If not, I’ll kill him before your eyes.”
Georgia’s heart jolted when she heard his words. She couldn’t help but wonder if she’d misheard. Her mind was a blank as she stared at Damian in a daze.
He gave a slight nod. “Give me his number. I’ll call him right now, telling him to come and save you. I bet your husband would not leave you behind since you’re so stunning.”
It was the second time he’d asked. She swallowed hard, and her stomach twisted into knots as dread settled in.
Should she give him Kayden’s number? If she did, Kayden would undoubtedly come to save her. But what could he do?
Damian was already a formidable opponent, not to mention the many enemies outside. Kayden would only meet the same grim fate as Britton if he came.
No, she couldn’t let Kayden walk into this death trap. She would never do that!
She solidified her resolve, but Damian’s cold laugh pierced the air. “Don’t worry. Even if you don’t tell me, I can still get in touch with your husband. If I want to meet him, trust me-he’ll come.”
He dialed a number as he spoke. Five minutes later, he actually had Kayden’s number in hand.
Right in front of Georgia, he made the call, a video call. He made sure Kayden saw the hanging corpse and Georgia bound in ropes.
To ensure Kayden would come, Damian delivered a chilling ultimatum, “If you can’t make it here in half an hour, I’ll rape your wife and slice her throat. And when you arrive, all that will be left is her lifeless body, so you better hurry up.”
On the other end, Kayden smashed his phone in a fit of rage. But Damian knew he would come.
Damian reveled in the sense of absolute control over everything, as well as the superiority that came from knowing others could never defeat him, though they desperately wanted him dead.
To him, Hiphia was a mere speck on the map. How could anyone here possibly pose a challenge to him?
This city was nothing in his eyes and not even worthy of second-tier status.
Thus, Damian didn’t think Georgia’s husband would be an exception. In his eyes, the outcome was already sealed, no matter how strong Georgia’s husband might be.
His confidence was born from his strength, a strength he trusted most.
But waiting for her husband to arrive wasn’t enough for him. Damian intended to shatter Georgia’s faith, to crush any hope she held. He was determined to make her understand that her husband was doomed to die today.
Leaning over, he whispered a few words into Cheetah’s ear, and without hesitation, Cheetah swiftly carried out his orders.
A few minutes later, Cheetah hurried back and respectfully reported, “Damian, everything is ready!”
Damian gave a slight nod, then turned to Georgia and commanded, “Open your eyes. Take a good look outside.”
As his words faded, the heavy iron door creaked open. Outside, rows of thugs and hoodlums were standing in tight formation.
The moment the door opened, they erupted into a deafening chant, “Kill! Kill! Kill!”
The overwhelming roars surged like tidal waves, filling the abandoned warehouse with chaotic echoes. Even the birds and animals nearby scattered in panic at the sound of the noise.
As she stared at the massive crowd, Georgia could feel the creeping chill of fear wrap around her heart. There were probably several thousand people here!
She knew there were Damian’s accomplices outside, but never imagined the crowd would be this vast. They were all armed with knives, clubs, and even guns-not just ordinary firearms, but something like submachine guns.
Damian raised his hand, like a conductor directing an orchestra, and the roar of the crowd instantly ceased.
His gaze cut through the crowd before settling on Georgia. “See that? We have gathered most members of Hiphia Underworld. Three thousand men here, all to take down your husband. Surely your husband won’t stand a chance now.”
