Chapter 99

Book:The CEO'S Delicate Wife Published:2024-10-15

Xavier and Cecilia left Manila, when they got the news about old Gilbert’s death. Before then Cecilia’s already sold one of his houses, as she only had the documents to it.
Morgan was in his office when Nicholas knocked on the door, he hummed, signaling him to come in. Nicholas walked towards Morgan and whispered into his ear, and Morgan frowned.
“Let her in.” His cold voice demanded.
Nicholas nodded, and left. Not long after he left he returned with a woman, who seemed to be in her middle age, her eyes were red and her face marred with guilt and remorse.
Morgan paused, his gaze quickly darting to her as he coldly seized her up. The woman lowered her head, not daring to meet his piercing gaze, as they sent chills to her. The atmosphere in the office was tense and thick, even Nicholas didn’t dare to breathe.
“What do you want?” he suddenly asked, breaking the silence.
The woman suddenly broke into tears, as she fell to her knees. Morgan’s frown got deeper, “Do you think I have all the time in the world to sit and watch you cry?”
She shook her head, her head still lowered. “I know about Mr. Gilbert’s death.” She blurted.
Morgan’s fist clenched under the table and his jaw tightened. He remained silent, his gaze fixed intently on her.
“IiIt was her, Mrs. Cecilia. I once caught her adding a substance to Mr. Gilbert’s food, when I asked her, she said it was prescribed by the doctor for faster relief. I didn’t believe her, but I couldn’t do anything. It was the day I was cleaning her room that I found the drug packet in one of her drawers. I took it to a drug store, only to find out it’s a drug for shutting down organs in the body, giving the victim a slow death.” she wiped her tears, her head still lowered.
“I guess that’s the reason you resigned.” Morgan suddenly stated, and she nodded.
“I’ve heard you, is there anything else?”
She shook her head again. Morgan hummed and signaled Nicholas to take her out.
Morgan’s gaze was fixed on his laptop screen all the time Nicholas left, he only reacted when a message came into the phone, he grabbed his phone and checked it.

A black Lamborghini Aventador SVJ sped along the quiet road at night, inside the car was seated Morgan, while Nicholas drove the car. Morgan glanced at his screen, the urge to call Olivia very strong.
Without wasting another second, he dialed her number, and she picked up almost immediately, as if she was waiting for his call.
This little Woman!
His heart surged with warmth as soon as her face came into view, she seemed to just come out of the washroom, as her hair was wrapped with a towel and her face wet, making her extremely alluring and beautiful.
“Morgan,” she said lightly.
“Hmm? You just got out of the bathroom?”
“Yess, I’m about to dress up.”
“Alright, go ahead.” He nodded, his expression unfazed.
Olivia cheeks flushed with embarrassment at his shamelessness. “You don’t mean that, do you?”
“Why wouldn’t I? You’ll catch a cold if you don’t cover up.”
Olivia nodded, and went ahead to dress in front of her screen, but making sure to not show him the obvious part of her body. Morgan didn’t want to tease her and let her dress how she wanted.
“When will you return?”
Morgan paused his lips into a deep line, as if he was in a deep thought. Olivia chuckled at his serious expression.
“You’re having fun, aren’t you?”
She smiled lightly, not answering to him. Morgan took a deep breath, “I’ll return tomorrow or next.”
“Hmm,” she hummed, and nodded.
“Missing me already?”
“You wish!!”
Morgan chuckled, “Alright, take care, I will call you later.”
Olivia nodded and with that Morgan hung up.
In another car, a red Bentley, two men were seated inside, one of them wore a mask, while the other was bare faced.
“How much time is remaining for the car to explode?” The masked man’s voice echoed in the car.
“Two hours, sir.”
The masked man seemed to think as he tilted his head to his side. “Make it an hour, two hours is a big time.” He finally said.
“Ok sir.” the man nodded, and punched into his laptop’s keyboard.
“It’s done.”
The masked man nodded, one could tell he was smiling, as his eyes slowly curved up.
An hour Later,
The masked man glanced at his phone, as a call came in, he slowly swiped it to answer the call.
“Hello sir, the explosion is done. But, I feel like it happened pretty fast.”
“As expected. You’re sure he was in the car right?”
“Yes sir.”
“Alright then.”
He hung up and glanced at the other man, who sat beside him in the car. “Your job is done.”
He brought out a box from his side and handed it over to the man, “Here’s your payment.”
“Thank you sir.” The man nodded and was about to take it, when the masked man withdrew his hand, pushing the box back.
“Remember, no one can find out about this.” He warned.
“Rest assured sir, I keep my client’s secrets. This is my job.”
“Good then.”
With that he handed the box over to him. The man took it, he slowly opened to see bundles of money, he was sure it was above his Payment. He glanced at the masked man, “Thank you sir.”
He hummed and nodded.

Olivia had a nightmare and couldn’t sleep again, she was sorely worried for Morgan, she dreamt about him. In her dream, Morgan ran into a burning building and didn’t come out. She cried and cried wanting to go find him, but some people held her to not go and they told her that he was dead. She wailed with heartbreak, till she was up, tears were still streaming down her face, as he woke up, her body draped with cold sweat.
She reached for her phone and dialed his number, it wasn’t going through. After several trials, still not going through, her suspicion piqued up. She decided to call Nicholas, since it was both of them that left, but then, even Nicholas’ number wasn’t going through.
Olivia’s body was trembling, as her mind started to race wildly, she prayed deep down that nothing would happen to him.
‘It’s just a nightmare, not all nightmares signify danger. Calm down, okay’ she murmured, trying to calm herself down.
She didn’t sleep again until it was morning. She came into the living room to find Cherry seated on the floor, her shoulders trembling violently. Olivia frowned and hurried towards her.
“Sweetheart.” She lifted her chin, to realize she was crying.
“Why are you crying?”
Olivia carried her up, and sat her on her lap, gently stroking her hair.
“Does mommy not love me anymore, and don’t want to see me? I want to see mommy.” She sobbed and raised her to look at Olivia.
“Did I do anything wrong to mommy?”
Olivia’s fear from earlier evaporated as it was replaced with sympathy for the little girl in her arms. She smiled slightly and hugged her.
“Mommy loves Cherry very much, she loves you, okay?”
“Why did she leave me then? She doesn’t want to see me again.”
“No baby, mommy wants you to stay with Uncle Morgan, do you not want to stay with him anymore.”
“I want to stay with him, but I want to see mommy.”
“I’ll take you to see mom later, okay?”
Cherry nodded, “Thank you, pretty aunty.” She hugged Olivia.
The volume of the led TV screen in the parlor was mute, unknown to Olivia, the news about Morgan being caught in a car explosion which led to his death, was being broadcasted. His body is yet to be found, as the explosion seemed to be very severe.
She was about to look at the screen, when a call came into her phone.
