“Larry, I know he’s lying right?” Hilda quickly asked.
Larry looked up at her, “What if he’s saying the truth? What are you going to do?”
“Leave you of course.” Lorenzo’s voice teased.
“That doesn’t matter Larry, answer the damn question!” Hilda panicked and an impatient voice sounded, as she reached out to grab his phone.
“Oh my God, no way!” Hilda’s eyes were in shock, as she stared at Larry’s phone, obviously his bank balance.
“When were you going to tell us? How did that even happen?” Her previous apologetic voice completely vanished, replaced with a sharp and angry voice.
“Don’t change the topic, who’s Ava’s father? Am I really the father of the child you’re carrying?”
Hilda paused and scanned him. Larry has become poor, there’s nothing she wants with him again, she can’t bear to suffer with Ava and her unborn child, besides the child wasn’t his own to start with. She decided to come clean instead of beating around the bush.
“Look Larry, I’m really sorry that you have to find this out this way. It’s not my choice to leave you, but right now I’m left with no choice”
Larry’s expression was a mess, his brows knitted deeply, as he watched Hilda state her words. “You know that’s not the answer to the question, am I Ava’s father? Is it my child that you’re carrying?”
Hilda lowered her head, “No.”
“Goddammit!!!” Larry cursed, slamming his fist on the wall. “Why did you lie to me all these while? Why?” He had to pull her shoulders, when Lorenzo beat him to it.
“What? You think I’ll watch you lay a finger on the mother of my kids. No way! I was simply broke back then, and you happened to sleep with her when she found out she was pregnant with my child. You had money, I had none, what did you think she did? Run to you of course.” Lorenzo chuckled mockingly.
Larry didn’t want to believe what he was hearing, no, he’s been taking care of another man’s family these whole years, he was fooled into believing that Hilda loved him more than Lily. Now thinking about her, his heart ached, surge of regret washing over him, as he fell to sit on the floor, his eyes moistening.
“I’m really sorry, Larry, i”
“No! Not another word from you, you’re a liar, you fooled me, you made me chase the only person that cared for me. How didn’t I see this coming.”
Hilda had decided to leave with Lorenzo and wanted nothing to do with Larry, but hearing him speak about Lily, she flared up.
“What? You’re trying to speak good for Lily?? Who told you she loved you? Why didn’t she tell you the truth about Olivia, why didn’t she beat you as a child all these while, answer me, why?”
Today seems to be a day for revealing secrets, Larry glanced up at Hilda, and she quickly swallowed and shut her mouth. “The truth about Olivia?”
Hilda glanced at Lorenzo, who nodded to her to go ahead and say it all.
“Yess Olivia. You’re not Olivia’s real father, you can’t even match up to him. Lily hated him, but never got him out of her mind, how can she bear a child for you when her heart belongs to another man. You simply came into her life, when she was heartbroken and she used you to heal, but not completely. Yes, she slept with you, you enjoyed having sex with her, but did she? She resorted to taking meds just to avoid having a child for you.”
Larry couldn’t swallow the lump in his chest, Lily must have kept secrets from him, but there was always guilt in her eyes, which he seemed to understand now. “Even at that, Lily isn’t as vicious as you. She was conscious and I blamed myself for not paying attention to her.”
Hilda sneered, “Soothe yourself then, you really have no one on your side now. Olivia can’t accept you, not after she lost her mother.”
“She lost her mother? You’re trying to say Lily is dead??”
“Gosh, you’re really so dumb.” Lorenzo grunted.
At that point, Larry got up and again, his gaze fixed on Hilda, a confused and questioning gaze.
“I won’t be the bearer of such news, go check for yourself. Lorenzo, let’s get out of here.” Hilda said, and glanced at Ava, who had been so quiet all through the conversation, tears streaming down her face.
Although she now had the idea that Larry had gone bankrupt, she couldn’t bear to see him in such a pathetic state. He really cared for her, but yet, she couldn’t bear to live poorly, no way.
“I’m sorry, Larry.” She finally mouthed, and wiped her tears.
“All these while, I’ve been tossing my life away, no child of my own, nobody to be by me.” He chuckled between sobbs and broke into tears after Hilda had left with Ava, and Lorenzo.
Three week gone,
Old Gilbert is confirmed dead by the doctor, after Mr Kim followed Morgan to come check him. He disclosed to Morgan that he won’t survive, because he’s been taking in excess resin medicine, which slowly shut off all his organs and would lead to his death sooner or later.
Morgan didn’t dare to believe his father was dead, his expression was unfazed and his demeanor cold as he walked into the ward. He slowly pulled down the white linen that was used to cover his face, after watching him fkra while, he closed it back. He turned around to see Olivia’s tear stained face, her eyes red and puffy and her expression pale.
It was the second time she saw the corps of someone she cared about. She clutched her chest, crying in a muffled voice. Veins popped out of Morgan’s head, he clenched his jaw and glanced at Nicholas.
“Get her out of here.” his cold voice demanded.
Olivia didn’t want to leave, she wanted to hug Morgan, she knew he was hurting deeply inside, but seeing his deadpan expression, she obeyed and left with Nicholas.
Shortly after Olivia left, the doctor walked to Morgan and gave him a sealed envelope. “Your father wanted me to hand this over to you.”
Morgan glanced at him and the envelope, before he took it.
His father was dead, yet Cecilia not Xavier was present, Morgan smiled slyly, knowing that both of them were the only mistake his father made.
His funeral was quick and not many people were present, as Morgan decided to make it between his family and a few business partners, who came for condolences.
Morgan knew that Cecelia and Xavier had a hand in it, it could also be the reason Xavier killed Stacy, just so the truth won’t get out. But at this point, he was going to find them at all costs and they were going to pay.
