Chapter 97

Book:The CEO'S Delicate Wife Published:2024-10-15

Olivia woke up very early in the morning, she had issues sleeping properly at night, her child wasn’t making it any easier, as the kicks were getting stronger, plus she missed Morgan’s presence, even though she wouldn’t admit it.
She reached for her phone, about to dial his number when a video caption caught her attention. She tapped on the video, her eyes widened in shock, as surprise yet excitement was smeared on her face.
She quickly checked the comment section, indeed internet users are unpredictable, she giggled while reading the comments.
Who could have uploaded the video? How was someone even able to retrieve the complete video?
Olivia was very happy about the video she just watched, at least everyone will get to see who Ava really is, and her name can finally be cleared.
Meanwhile, Ava, who had recently been released from the cell, was at home with her, discussing her next plan on dealing with Olivia. They were still into the conversation when her phone rang, she saw it was from her classmate, Lucy, she smiled brightly. She hated Olivia, as well as Lucy and all the students who watched the video from months ago.
“Hi Lucy,”
“Hello Ava, I’m sorry, but I’m going to remove you from my friend lists. I heard you just got out of cell, and I’m sure you’ll want to resume school faster, when you do, please don’t get close to me. We’re no longer friends, I’m sorry.”
Ava frowned deeply, “What’s going on? Why? Did I do something wrong?”
“Oh my God, Ava, haven’t you watched the video? You’re trending, everyone now knows the truth. I’m sure Redcrest…no, I won’t be the one to tell you such news, just know we’re no longer friends.”
With that Lucy hung up. Confusion was marred on Ava’s face as she stared at her screen, she dialed Lucy’s number but it wasn’t going through, she blocked her.
“What’s the issue?” Hilda asked, sitting up as her face was also flushed with worry.
“I don’t know what video she’s talking about, she blocked me and she…”
Ava’s hands were trembling as she scrambled through her phone, scrolling to find the trending news. Her heart thumped loudly as she found it, her eyes widened in shock.
“No! No! No! No, mom!” Ava yelled, tugging her hair, as she tossed her phone away.
Hilda picked up the phone and watched the phone. She went to the comment section, to see billions of curses rained on her daughter, all because of Olivia.
That wench! She cursed and went to console Ava, who seemed to have gone crazy. She knew the consequences and effects the video had. No wonder, Lucy had quickly cut off all ties with her.
The mother and daughter were in a pull of heartbreak, when the door was suddenly pushed open and two men stormed in. Larry and Lorenzo.
Hilda quickly released Ava, and got up, her brows knitted deeply as her gaze darted towards Larry and Lorenzo. She glared at Lorenzo, “What are you doing here??” Her voice was unsteady and nervous.
Lorenzo smiles cheekily, his gaze darted towards Ava, who frowned immediately and looked away. “Dad, who is he?” She asked, her question directed at Larry.
“Your mom should be the one to answer that question.”
Lorenzo’s smile evaporated the moment Ava called Larry, Dad. He turned his gaze towards Hilda.
“For how long, do you plan to keep this a secret??”
Hilda had never thought that Lorenzo, coulf show up in front of her, now she regretted running to him for help when Ava was arrested, if she hadn’t done so, he wouldn’t have remembered to come.
“What are you talking about? Please leave my house.” She quickly cut him off, sending him a warning glare, but he wasn’t having any of it.
“Can someone explain to me what’s going on here? And what secret are you talking about?” Larry barked, his gaze shifting from Hilda to Lorenzo.
“Honey please don’t mind him, let’s go inside.”
“Really? Hilda, do you honestly think I’m here for games, I’m done playing games with you, I’m here to take my daughter.” Lorenzo, who’s anger seemed to be rising at each second, quickly cut Hilda out of her words, as his gaze returned to Ava.
Ava was confused, although she hadn’t seen Lorenzo before now, she could tell he was serious with whatever he was talking about. Even though she didn’t want to admit it, the similarities between them were obvious. She shook her head, trying to cut off the voice in her head.
“Mom, what’s he talking about??”
“Fine, if you’re not ready to say anything, I’ll do it. Thank me later for it.” Lorenzo said, his gaze still fixed on Ava.
“Ava right?” He asked.
Ava slowly nodded, her body trembling slightly.
“Ava dear, no my daughter doesn’t believe whatever he’s about to say. He’s lying!” Hilda voiced out.
“Am I?” Lorenzo chuckled.
He glanced at Larry and smiled, “I want to use this medium to thank you for taking care of my daughter. I really appreciate it, although she wasn’t really taken care of.”
Larry got furious, his anger boiling as he glanced at Hilda, “What is he talking about? Taking care of his daughter??”
Hilda stuttered, unable to say a word, she angrily glanced at Lorenzo. “Lorenzo, what nonsense are you spouting? please shut up and don’t spoil people’s family.”
Lorenzo roared in laughter, “Even after all these years, you still haven’t learnt how to lie properly. Such a pity.”
Hilda was really angry, Lorenzo was foiling her plan, and she couldn’t do anything to him, especially not in front of Larry.
She went to Larry, and held his hands, “Honey believe me, I don’t know what he’s talking about, all these are stressing the baby and I, please quickly send him away.” She whined pitifully, rubbing her belly.
“No matter what act you put up today, I’m leaving with my Ava and that child you have there? I’ll wait till he’s born.”
“No way!!” Ava shook her head, eyeing Lorenzo in a disgusting manner.
If the man was really her father, and her mom left him for Larry, then he was poor. No, she can’t have a poor man as her father, especially now she’s in the face of the internet.
At this point Larry couldn’t hold in his anger and pushed Hilda away from him, “Can you explain what he’s talking about?!” He questioned angrily, his voice rising more than normal.
Hilda was conflicted, she knew the situation at hand was above her and that Lorenzo was dead serious, if she didn’t confess, he might really go as far as seeking for a DNA, thereby bringing everything to light.
“Lorenzo please stop! Stop all these! It’s not by force to love you, I already told you, I love Larry, he’s the one I want to spend my life with. Don’t use all these means to break us up, I can’t leav without him.” She feigned tears and went to cling unto Larry, who seemed to falter by her confessions. He gently rubbed her back, as if consoling her.
“You’re delusional, to think I came here for you, what do I want with a pregnant woman, I came for Ava, my daughter!”
“I’m not your daughter, please stop!” Ava quickly retorted.
Lorenzo frowned, his expression laced with hurt, anger.
“I know I’ve not been a good father, I wasn’t there for you all these while, you have your mother to blame for that.” He glared at Hilda, but his anger evaporated the moment it returned to Ava.
“I’ve been quiet all this while, allowing them to take care of you, but they failed, they let my daughter into a cell, they allowed you to sleep in a cell, my precious daughter. Your mother came to me for help, imagine the anger, the heartbreak, the hurt I felt, hearing that my daughter was in a cell. I made sure to take you there as now you’re out, I’m sure your mom didn’t tell you any of these.”
“I still allowed them to take care of you, but no, they failed again. My daughter’s name and photo can’t be all over the internet, while her name is being trampled upon. So, I am here to take you away from all these, I have an estate outside Manila, I promise you my daughter you’ll enjoy it more than here.” He said, reaching his hand out for Ava.
Ava, whose eyes are now moistened with tears, stared at his hands. She couldn’t believe her so-called father was keeping a lot of tab on her and even cared deeply for her. But, if she leaves with him, what about her mother? She knew her mom wasn’t going to go with him. She quickly declined, refusing to take his hands and went to stand by Larry.
Lorenzo glanced at Hilda, “You don’t know it but I do, his money is finished. I know you’re with him because of his money, check his balance and see if I’m lying.”
Hilda and Ava frowned and looked at Larry, but he quickly brought his face down.
