A month later,
“Mom, I can’t stay here any longer, is there really nothing you can do to get me out?” Ava’s eyes moistened as she held the bar, separating the both of them.
“Don’t cry my dear, I’m still looking for a way I’m sure you’ll be out sooner than later. That vixen really has Gilbert’s son, wrapped around her fingers.”
“You mean the young master?”
“Yes, he made sure that the officers can’t be bribed with money, plus my chance of visiting you has expired. Which means I won’t visit you again, till the day of your bail.” Hilda stated, as a sad expression was contoured on her face.
“But you’ve only come here twice, how can he be ruthless? Olivia, that wench!”
“Like i said, this is all my fault, I should be the one here not you. But don’t worry, I’ll find a way for you to get out, okay?”
“Okay mommy, what about dad? Does he know?”
“No he doesn’t. He does not need to know, we’ll lose everything the moment he finds out that I killed Lily, I don’t want that to happen. That’s why I told him, “you’re with one of your friends and will be home soon.”
“It’s all her fault! I’m here because of her!” Ava spat, her voice laced with venom and hatred as she paced in the cell.
“Your time is up!” a female officer voiced out, as she moved towards Hilda to take her away.
Hilda wanted to beg for more time, but remembered the woman’s reaction the last time she begged for time, she nodded and turned to leave.
“You’ll surely get out, okay?” She said, giving Ava one last glance before the door to the cell was closed and she was out.
Once they were out of the cell area, the officer freed her hands. “You will no longer come to visit her again, you get that?”
Hilda nodded, her eyes suddenly moistening, as she turned around and left. She felt pity, that Ava was the one paying for her deed, but the deed was done and she didn’t feel any remorse killing Lily, she just felt bad that Ava had to go take the punishment for her.

Morgan had been receiving text from Laura, who is yet to show up in front of him. He decided not to block her number, for reasons known to him alone, rather he’d ignore each message after reading it.
One thing he wasn’t sure about was how his private number got to her, Morgan was cautious, not to miss his private life and business life together. He only knew three people who had his private number, Nicholas, Old Gilbert and Olivia, but none of them would dare to give out his number, without his permission.
Morgan could remember Laura fanning over him, then in school, in the state. She was always trying to strike up a conversation, but he never really paid any attention to her. And now, she’s in Manila, God knows where and how she got his private number.
Morgan sighed and continued to attend to the files, placed on his desk. His mind drifted off to Olivia, whose face appeared on his mind.
A soft smile, which he didn’t notice escaped his lips, but quickly vanished, Immediately clearing his throat, making his presence known.
“You sent for me, sir.”
“Hmm, I did. Xavier, is resuming work today, to make sure he doesn’t get to enter his former office, as his position has been changed. Keep an eye on him.”
Nicholas nodded, he was about to leave when he remembered something, he paused and turned around.
“Sir, remember Emily? My ex, I told you about.”
“Yeah?”
“She’s in town and I think she’s an acquaintance with Xavier. The night your handover party happened, she was present, and the night Mrs. was harassed by a drunk man in the club, she was also in the same room. My findings has it that she’s been with Xavier for a long time. I’m sorry I didn’t let you know earlier, I wanted to be sure first.”
Morgan was silent for a while, his expression unfazed and indifferent. Finally, he nodded, picking up another file on his desk.
“You can leave.”
Nicholas nodded and left.
A sly smile was etched on Xavier’s face, as Franco drove him to the company. All through the drive, his gaze was lowered to his laptop, and he seemed focused on whatever he was doing. Meanwhile, Emily sat beside him, her hands trailing all over his body in a seductive way.
“Been a while, hasn’t it?” She giggled, referring to the company ahead of them.
“Exactly.” He smiled, finally raising his head to look ahead. He smiled again, and turned his gaze to Emily, “Morgan should be restless by now.”
They laughed in unison.
It wasn’t long before Xavier and Emily arrived at the company’s building, their presence suddenly caused an uproar of murmur and gossip.
Before they could get into the main building, they were surrounded by numerous press workers, each scouring for a position closer to Xavier. Their mic raised towards him, as flashes of camera were heard.
“You’re back, Mr Xavier and you seem very happy, can we know the reason?”
“What you did went viral, do you mind telling us if it’s true or not?”
“Do you really beat your wife, Mr Xavier?”
“Are you going to apologize to Mr Morgan for what you did to him?”
“Who’s this woman besides you, is she your mistress? The reason you beat your wife?”
The lists of the questions they threw at him went on, this time even Xavier’s men couldn’t help as there were so many of the press surrounding him and Emily.
Morgan watched from the top floor, at first he was surprised, as he didn’t call or inform the press about Xavier’s arrival. But he seemed to enjoy the questions thrown at him, as if they were specifically selected to be thrown at him, it isn’t the typical press questions. Whoever invited the press, must really have something huge against him.
Xavier kept trying to say something but he couldn’t be heard, as the press voices were louder and the sounds of their camera was much louder.
Suddenly Emily yelled, “How do you expect him to answer these questions, when you’re not letting him?!!”
Everywhere fell silent, as their attention fell on Emily, who’s expression was fierce, and unfazed.
