Chapter 83

Book:The CEO'S Delicate Wife Published:2024-10-15

Everyone’s attention was fixed on Olivia as she walked into the office, disguised so well that she was barely noticed, if not for her voice.
Hilda widened her eyes in shock, her shock escalated when Morgan got up from his chair and went towards Olivia.
“What really could be their relationship? The cold man from earlier disappeared into a caring and calm man, just immediately after Olivia badged in” she thought, her eyes fixed on them.
“What are you doing here?” Morgan asked, his gaze fixed on her as he went closer to her.
“I get the fact that you’re trying to be nice to me, you’re trying to fulfill your promise to me, but she’s still my mother. You can’t do things behind my back, even though I’m sick, I deserve to know.” She stated, slowly, audible enough for only Morgan to hear, since he was close to her.
She knew she couldn’t talk to him in the public, regardless of their relationship, his reputation and respect was to stand firm in the eyes of the public.
Morgan’s gaze lingered on her face for a while, his initial anger slowly dissipated. He nodded, but his expression remained aloof, a slight anger etched on the edge of his face.
“What if you were caught by someone? You could have just called, and Nicholas would have brought you here.” He finally asked.
“That wasn’t really necessary, I came with Mark, he drove me here.”
“Mark?” Morgan frowned, as he lifted his gaze above Olivia’s head to search for the said Mark, but couldn’t see him.
“He is in the car, not here.”
“Hmm” Morgan nodded.
Everyone was silent, their gaze fixed on both couples, barely hearing whatever conversation they were having.
Hilda’s heart squeezed in jealousy and hatred for Olivia, as she could read the care and affection in Morgan’s eyes, as he talked to her.
“It was not supposed to be Olivia, it was supposed to be Ava, Ava is the right person for that position, not Olivia. Stupid Lily, even in her death, she’s still annoying and I hate her more.” she cursed inwardly, her chest twisting in anger.
She was still thinking, when she suddenly felt a sharp and stinging pain hit her cheek. She flew back to reality, her cheek stinging so badly that it turned red immediately.
Hilda raised her palm to slap back, but it was held back, then did she realize that it was Olivia who slapped her. Her face turned dark with anger and she glared at Olivia.
“You dare to slap me?”
“And I will slap you again, if you say another word, you’re so heartless and vicious!” Olivia barked, getting really angry.
“What are you even talking about?”
Slap!
Another slap landed on Hilda’s cheek, as the question left her mouth.
“You dare to think, I won’t find out that you were behind my mom’s death? Isn’t it enough that you collied with Larry to chase her out of the house, even when knowing she was seriously ill? No! It wasn’t enough, it wasn’t enough for a dark soul like yours and you went ahead to make her kill herself, how more vicious can you be? Huh?” Olivia yelled, landing another slap to her cheek.
Olivia’s eyes were clouded with extreme rage, anger and hatred, it glistened with tears threatening to fall. Hilda seemed to notice the rage in her eyes, she backed away a bit, not wanting to be slapped again, as her tooth was already aching from the previous slaps.
She knew, she couldn’t deny it anymore, everyone’s gaze was fixed on her, hatred and disdain filled in them.
“Now Olivia had the backing of the young master, would the police be called on her? No way, she must think of something.” She thought and swallowed.
“Look Olivia, I didn’t meant to…. is just that…. you’re mother isn’t who you think she is, I.. i-”
“Shut it already!” Morgan’s icy, authoritative voice rang through the room, sending chills down their spines, especially Hilda. She swallowed and closed her mouth immediately.
More could have been done to Hilda, but looking at her heavily pregnant stomach, Morgan decided to let the police take care of the matter.
Although that wouldn’t stop him from punishing everyone in her family, including Ava and Larry.
Hilda gasped, as soon as she heard the word Police. She can’t go to the police, not again, they won’t spare her this time.
No way is she going to the police alone. “Afterall i didn’t do it alone, I wouldn’t even have done it without her help, so she’s coming with me.” Hilda thought and glanced at one of the nurses, who quickly looked away.
“I have an accomplice.” She suddenly said, her gaze still fixed on the nurse.
The doctor frowned and followed the trail of direction. “What are you talking about?” The doctor asked, looking away from the nurse, she is one of his trusted employees, and can’t believe she will do whatever Hilda was trying to accuse her of.
“I’m saying that Eva, that nurse over there is my accomplice. We did this together, I mean, it wouldn’t have been done without her help. You should know better, once this matter gets to the police, the image and reputation of your hospital will be tarnished.”
Olivia’s gaze fell on the nurse, it was the same lady that consoled her, and even cried more on that day.
“Is that true?” Olivia asked, Alongside the doctor.
Eva brought her face down, she couldn’t even look at her colleague, she couldn’t bear to meet eyes with the doctor nor Olivia, as a heavy feeling of guilt and regret washed over her.
“Is this true, Eva?!!” The doctor barked, his eyes turning red with anger as he glared at her.
Eva flinched, her body jolting with fear, as she nodded, followed by a muffled sob.
Shock and extreme disappointment was written all over his face, “Aren’t you supposed to save lives?”
Hilda chuckled teasingly, as she rubbed her belly, indirectly reminding them that it was her leverage over them. She was sure about her state, if she wasn’t pregnant.
Eva broke into tears, as she couldn’t say anything, her gaze remained on Hilda, as if she wanted to say something but couldn’t.
The nurses exchanged a knowing glance, shock and disappointment also written on their faces. Given how Eva was devoted and dedicated to her work, none of them would dare to believe that she will do something like that.
Olivia’s eyes stung with pain, as she thought about it. The same nurse, who she thought like her mom and was taking very good care of her, turned out to be the same person who contributed to taking her life.
Just how cruel?
Morgan pulled Olivia into a hug, which Hilda didn’t fail to see.
“Bring in the cops.” Morgan suddenly said, referring to Nicholas who got up.
Hilda swallowed again, a sudden rush of adrenaline washing over her, before Nicholas could leave she yelled, “Wait!”
Her gaze went to Olivia, who was staring back at her.
“I might be a bad person Olivia, but … . if you knew what his father did to your mom, you wouldn’t be with him.” She stated, referring to Morgan, but not meeting his gaze, scared of his icy and piercing gaze.
“What rubbish are you spouting?” Olivia frowned.
“His father-”
“Shut the fuck up!!” Morgan growled, interrupting her unfinished words.
