Larry’s House
“Mom, I wish I could come with you, but I still have unfinished business in school.”
“Shhh, bring your voice down. Your dad is still in the living room.” Hilda whisper-yelled, signaling Ava to bring her voice down.
Ava smiled and nodded, “I was done talking anyway. Just wanted to say good luck.” She rolled her eyes and walked out of the room.
Hilda smiled, as her gaze followed her exit, Ava was a constant reminder of her younger self as she mirrored her character and appearance.
She was getting prepared to go to the hospital, in order to confirm her doubt. She was still applying makeup, when Larry walked into the room.
“You have an appointment with the doctor?” he asked, his gaze trailing her figure.
Hilda smiled, obviously faking, “Yeah, but that’s not the main reason, I want to go to my friend’s boutique, she sells nice baby clothes.”
“Alright, you still have my credit card right?”
“Yes, but…” she paused and frowned, pouting her lips, as she turned to look at him.
“What’s that?”
“The money might not be enough, you know, baby clothes are expensive, especially male babies. He’s your first male child, remember.” She smiled, making her voice sound coquettish as to please Larry.
Larry seemed to think for a while and nodded, “Alright, I’ll transfer more money to you.”
Hilda smiled and got up, engulfing Larry in a sweet hug, “Thank you my love! You’re the very best!” She kissed his lips and backed away.
Meanwhile in the hospital, the tension in the doctor’s office was thick and tense, no one dared to breathe, afraid that one breath might take their life.
Morgan sat across the office, opposite the nurses and doctor, behind him sat Nicholas, who’s gaze was also stoic and aloof just like his master. The atmosphere had been like that since Morgan arrived.
The doctor’s phone buzzed with an incoming call, the sound echoing in the room. He glanced at Morgan and took his phone.
His eyes widened, as the corner of his lips curved up into a smile.
“She’s here!” He announces, as soon as he settles his Phone on the desk.
“Good, let her in.” Morgan hummed.
Hilda, filled with confidence and boldness, walked into the hospital, she was greeted by the nurses present. Her eyes secretly darted around, as if searching for someone.
“Mrs. Helen, you’re here.” A nurse smiled, and walked towards her.
“Just what we needed, thank goodness.” She sighed, smiling brightly at her.
Hilda frowned, “Did you say something?” She said, narrowing her eyes at the nurse.
“Of course not ma, come with me please.” She said, and turned around.
Hilda swallowed, her countenance slightly changed, but she shrugged and followed the nurse.
“Where are you taking me? I came to see my sister.” Hilda suddenly asked, unable to hold in her anxiousness, as they’d been walking for a while, just to stop in front of an office door, which obviously was not a ward.
The nurse chuckled, but didn’t say anything to her, nor look at her, she went ahead to push the door open, then turned around to face her.
Her face devoid of her previous smiles, “Come in.”
Hilda’s heart raced wildly as she thought of what really was happening.
“Why should I go in with you?”
“Because you’re a murderer! Now get in here and save us some time.”
Nicholas’ voice barked, startling Hilda and the nurse. It was then that it downed Hilda that she was done for, not like she wasn’t going to put up a fight.
‘Let’s see how this goes’ she thought.
“Murderer?” She glared at Nicholas, squeezing her face in anger.
“Come inside first, we’ll talk about this.”
Hilda’s gaze swept Nicholas’ figure and stopped at the nurse. She didn’t seem to recognize or know who he was, but she could tell he was of a high status, or maybe he’s just trying to show off.
She seemed to think for a while, then nodded and went in after the nurse. Her racing heart, which seemed to have stopped, began again, this time accompanied by a heavy thudding, as she meet the gaze of the same nurse she was secretly searching for, earlier.
The nurse looked away, and brought her face down. This little action didn’t go unnoticed by Morgan, who’s expression remained unfazed and stoic.
If anything, the doctor was amused and equally surprised as how the woman in front of him could actually look exactly like Olivia had drawn on paper.
He was even more shocked, as how a pregnant woman could actually end the life of her fellow woman in such a way.
He sighed and got up, his gaze lingering on her for a while before he began.
“Mrs Helen? Hmm, I see.” He said, taking one glance at the paper.
“Who’s Helen or Hilda, between the both of you?” He said, turning the paper, so she could see the face.
Hilda swallowed, her gaze darting from the nurses, the doctor, Nicholas, it was then that she saw Morgan’s figure.
“Is this not Gilbert’s son?” She thought, trying to get a full glimpse of him.
His cold and domineering aura was so heavy that she couldn’t help but shiver, as soon as his icy gaze fell on her.
She looked away, not daring to return her eyes on him.
“Ma’am do you want to talk or you need someone else to do the talking?” Nicholas said, drawing her attention back to him.
“What exactly do you want me to start talking about? I don’t even know the reason I was brought here.” Hilda challenged, sounding angry.
Nicholas chuckled, alongside the doctor.
“How’s Mrs. Lily related to you?” Nicholas asked, nodding at her.
“Calm down Hilda, you can get through this, they are just interrogating you.” She thought, taking a deep breath.
“She’s my best friend, what’s wrong with visiting her?”
“But you both ended it a long time ago, not on good terms actually.” Nicholas added.
“Friends do fight, so yeah, we fought, but we still reconciled. We went back to being on good terms.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“I’m still wondering why a friend will go behind her friend’s back to sleep with her husband and then collide with him to Chase her out, what friend does that?” Nicholas sighed, his expression turning into disdain.
Hilda frowned, “I didn’t steal her husband, he was mine to begin with, he loved me first, not her!” She suddenly palmed her mouth, realizing what she just said.
“Well, well, well.” Nicholas muttered, arching his brows.
“I don’t think I have any reason to doubt that you killed her, this is enough. One more thing-”
“You carried out your plan so smoothly, was there a helping hand? Maybe the punishment would be less.”
Hilda paused, she was about to raise her head, when the door was pushed open from the outside, revealing Olivia’s angry face.
“How can you do this without me? She’s my mother for crying out loud!”
