Lilith’s POV
Of all the time the moon chose to come out in all its glory, it was tonight.
I suddenly felt a burning desire to have Adams all to myself as Lexi danced crazily inside me, threatening to come out.
“Stay still,” I scolded her inwardly, but she hissed, ignoring me.
It wasn’t her fault, I had starved her for too long. Clinging so tightly to Adams made things worse, but there was nothing I could do.
He rode so fast, one would think he was being chased by a demon. It made me wonder if he did it on purpose so that I would hold onto him tightly, and not let go.
“Are you alright? Am I riding too fast?” He asked, probably noting my discomfort.
I wanted to say yes, to tell him he should slow down and go at a gentler pace. But the truth was, I didn’t want to let go, gosh! Just what was he doing to me?
“No… I’m fine,” I whispered, regretting it afterward.
He nodded, and we rode on in silence, at the same speed for a while before slowing down.
“So… where are we going to?” I asked again, hoping he would tell me this time, since we were no longer at the mansion.
“We are close, my love. You’ll see it soon.”
We rode through bushes and tall trees and a little forest till we came to a stop in the most ethereal place I had ever seen.
Before me was a crystal clear river, which displayed the moon’s reflection perfectly like a mirror.
The stars lined the sky, forming different patterns each time I looked at it.
The trees stood tall, waving gently to the sweet music of the wind, their branches sweeping the night sky.
The sand shone in the dark, like pebbles under the reflection of the moonlight.
He came down first, and helped me to get down after, even though I insisted I could manage on my own.
My instinct told me to take off my sandals and I did, feeling the warm, smooth, sand under my toes.
It was just us, alone in this place which looked like heaven.
He moved the horse to a nearby tree and tied it before coming to join me where I stood.
“What is this place, Adams?” I looked at him as we locked hands, walking barefooted on the sand.
“It is my favorite place, where I come to relax my mind and feel at peace. At times, the mansion gets too hot whenever my brothers and I fight. This is where I escape too.
I felt sorry for him and squeezed his hand lightly, feeling bad for him.
“Don’t feel bad for me, Lilith,” he chuckled, as if he could read my mind. “That was then, not anymore. Since you came into my life, it has been a blessing all through. I’m never letting you go.”
His words danced through my ears, filling my heart with joy.
I began to feel cold as the gentle breeze seeped into my body. I regretted wearing the sleeveless gown and rubbed my arms with my palms, trying to keep the cold out.
My teeth trembled as it didn’t seem to work, which he noticed.
He moved closer and hugged me, holding me passionately. I felt like I was not just in heaven, but in the hands of my knight in shining armor.
His scent seeped into my nose, making Lexi dance wildly inside me. My knees became weak, and I could hardly stand straight.
Fortunately, his hand was behind my back, stopping me from falling. I looked up at him, from his eyes to his lips.
They looked juicy, and I just couldn’t resist the urge to have them. So I jammed them with mine when he wasn’t looking, savoring its taste.
He was surprised at first, but soon got engrossed in my lips as well.
He sucked them, gently at first. Gradually, he increased the urgency with which he kissed me and I moaned, my heart pounding loudly.
He ran his hands through my hair, making my heart beat rapidly and my blood rushed.
My hands found their way to the back of his neck and I deepened the kiss, but stopped when we heard a melodious voice call our names from behind us.
“Adams… Lilith.”
We were startled, and separated quickly.
We turned at once, to know who called us, but found no one.
“Who is there?” Adams demanded in an authoritative tone. “Show yourself!”
There was silence for a minute, then the voice laughed.
Panic set in, and I began to shiver, as my legs wobbled under me. “Dear goddesses, save us,” I prayed amidst whispers, hoping we weren’t under attack.
Since it was a full moon, Ted would be stronger and more feral. I’ve had too much violence in a day, it was best we left now without anyone having to spill blood.
The voice laughed again. But this time, it came directly behind us. We turned back again and noticed a small hole, almost covered by sand.
Adams and I stared at each other, confused. Was the voice coming from the hole?
We moved closer and bent directly before it, waiting to hear the sound again, when a pair of hands touched us both, and we stood in haste.
Turning around, my eyes fell on the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Her hair was red, and I drowned in the beauty of her ocean blue eyes.
She had a sweet smile which stretched across her face and when she spoke again, “Lilith, Adams.” Her voice was like a wind call, bringing still the storm in my soul.
“W…who are you?” Adams asked, stammering. With no doubt, he was carried away by her beauty as he could not look away from her.
“If I should tell you who I am, would you believe me?” she whispered.
“Speak,” Adams seemed to command. She looked into his eyes and I saw him tremble.
“I am the goddess, and I am here to help you discover what you are and help you win this battle.”
Her words seemed unbelievable, so I stared deeper at her, since I had seen the goddess before.
The red hair, her eyes… I gasped and fell to my feet, realizing she was the one.
Adams also fell to his feet, his hands extended before him. “To what do we owe this visit, great goddess?”
“Rise, both of you… please.”
We stood up, heads bowed before her. She looked so modest and simple in human form, I couldn’t help but wish to be like her.
“There’s danger ahead, and you must be prepared to face it… together. As we speak, Ben has teamed up with Augustus, and they are planning to unleash a deadly attack on you… Adams,” she said, facing him.
She looked at me afterward and put her hand on my shoulder. “You have been blessed with the power of the priestess, meant for purification and healing. This ability will help you keep Adams always in check, which is why you are the only one that can control him. Together,” she whispered. “You will rule peacefully, but there is a warning.”
“What warning?” Adams asked.
She stared from me to him and sighed. “You must never separate, no matter what.”
I looked at Adams and met his gaze already on mine. He had this look in his eyes which was so genuine, it made me tear up.
“We will never leave each other’s side, till the end of time,” he whispered, putting a light kiss on my lips.
The goddess smiled and turned around, walking into the water. We stared at her surprised, wondering what she wanted to do.
Soon, the water had reached her knees and she stopped to look at us again. “Adams… Lilith,” she whispered, her voice traveling with the wind into our ears. “The end has just begun.”
With those words, she dissolved into the air, filling us with a new sense of dread.
