Chapter 960: Accomplice

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-10-8

One million dollars?!
Gideon was from Okland, where the cost of living and wages were relatively low. If he could get one million dollars in one go, he would truly strike it rich!
Fortune favors the bold.
“Deal!” Gideon took the bank card. “I want another million after we disembark!”
“Agreed!” Addyson pursed her lips. “I’m a local and I smuggled myself here. I won’t go back on my word!”
“Now think of something, the police are coming up!” Addyson said anxiously.
The cargo ship was large.
There were people watching near the shore, but no one was monitoring the other side!
“Follow me!” Gideon led them stealthily to the deck and to a container at the stern. He opened it directly. “Hide inside and don’t come out without my signal.”
One of the containers was only half full.
It was very hot inside, but they could endure it. To avoid danger, Gideon even left some water for Addyson.
Just then, Ayaan, who had been quiet all along, suddenly bit Addyson!
“Ah!” Addyson cried out in pain and shook him off. Ayaan immediately ran away. He was young and dizzy, and he ran straight into a container.
“Damn it!” Addyson shouted to Gideon, “Get him back quickly…”
Gideon rushed over, but Ayaan had already gotten up and squeezed into a small gap between the containers.
Ayaan was small enough to fit through, but Gideon couldn’t. He stretched his hand trying to reach him, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get him out.
Gideon was sweating profusely in anger.
“Kid, come out!”
Ayaan’s little face was flushed, and blood oozed from his forehead where he had hit it, but he didn’t listen. He just curled his small body into the gap.
His throat hurt, but Ayaan still tried hard to shout, “Daddy! Mommy!”
The sea wind was strong, and combined with the sound of the waves, his voice quickly dissipated into the wind and disappeared.
Addyson and Gideon exchanged a glance, feeling somewhat relieved.
“Get him out quickly!” Addyson was extremely anxious. The gap between the containers was too small; even though Addyson was thin, she was still an adult and couldn’t fit through.
Addyson was so angry she almost spat blood. “Come out, or don’t blame me for being rude!” She turned around and found a long stick, threatening Ayaan. “If you don’t come out, I’ll use this!”
“I know you’re smart, but getting poked in the body or face can be very painful!” Addyson’s face twisted like a demon’s.
Ayaan kept retreating, but the gap behind him was too narrow; he couldn’t go any further.
“Daddy! Mommy!” Ayaan shouted loudly. Addyson, in her frustration, jabbed the stick into Ayaan’s mouth. Ayaan cried out in pain as tears streamed down his face and blood filled his mouth.
Gideon hadn’t expected Addyson to be so ruthless, even towards a child.
“Come out now, or I’ll kill you!” Addyson lost her patience. Ayaan’s cries might attract attention, making Addyson very anxious.
At this moment, Ranita had already boarded the cargo ship. Brendon followed her closely and reminded her, “Be careful not to fall.”
Ranita pursed her lips and was about to speak when she suddenly stopped and grabbed Brendon’s hand. “Brendon, listen… is someone calling…”
The wind howled.
Brendon focused but didn’t hear anything! He held her hand to comfort her, but Ranita suddenly let go of his hand and started running…
