Book:I Hope You Will Never Regret Published:2024-10-8

Seven months later……
Aiden had not made peace with his parents and sister yet. At work, he was professional and distant.
One morning when he woke up, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something bad would happen.
He took his phone and unblocked his mother’s number. Then he went to work. He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw his father. Even though he was still angry with his father for failing to fight for their marriage, he still loved him.
After work, he decided to go to the old Martins mansion to see his mother. He parked the car in the driveway. Then he knocked on the door.
His mother was dumbfounded when she saw her estranged son standing at the door. His mother looked at him viciously and asked, “What are you doing here, Aiden?”
Aiden smiled faintly but the smile didn’t reach his eyes and replied, “This is my home, Mom. Relax, I am not here to fight with your young lover.” Then he walked past his mother and went to his bedroom to rest.
Elizabeth was tossing and turning, she couldn’t sleep. She felt that she had let down her late brother. She decided to go to the living room to wait for her niece. Lily was partying with her friends.
At 12:30 am, Aunt Elizabeth heard the sound of a car, then walked to the door and opened it. Lily was swaying, and she was drunk like a skunk.
When Lily saw her aunt, she giggled and hugged her. Her mouth smelled like a tavern.
Her aunt pushed her; she staggered back a few steps. She looked at her aunt coldly, then she headed to the stairs.
When Aunt Elizabeth saw Lily taking the stairs, she followed behind to catch her should she fall. Fortunately, she managed to reach the first floor without any accident.
She looked at her aunt and said, “You don’t love me, Auntie. You asked me to break up Jordan and your daughter because you wanted her to marry the country’s most wealthy and handsome man.”
Then she cried sorrowfully. She hiccupped and said, “You promised to introduce me to young Mr Taylor, but you knew that your precious daughter had already married him.
I regret not choosing Aunt Mia to be my guardian. I hate you, Auntie. I was pure-hearted when I moved here, but you corrupted me. You taught me how to scheme against your daughter.
I have never seen a dumb person like you, Auntie. How could you divorce a catch like Uncle August? He was the whole package, but you discarded him like trash. I investigated his beautiful young wife.
I found out that she came from a wealthy family, and she didn’t marry for money but for Uncle August for love. Auntie, one day you will regret divorcing Uncle August because he was the best thing that ever happened to you.”
Then she giggled and said, “However, I avenged myself by setting you up with Jamie. Your young lover was a womanizer who didn’t respect women.
I laughed when I saw you treating him as a treasure. You bought him lavish gifts, and you gave him money to take care of his mother, but what did you get in return?
The money you gave him he pampered his mistresses with. His mother passed away when Jamie was twenty-one years old in a car accident.
Sorry to burst your bubble, Jamie never loved you. He was just following my instructions. The engagement ring that you cherished the most was bought by me with your own money.”
She hiccupped and said, “Jamie felt embarrassed and ashamed to share a child with you. He gave me medicine to put in your food. Hence, you end up losing your precious baby.
It gave me satisfaction to see you devastated when you lost your child. It was payback for killing my parents.
You were so pathetic when you were mourning your precious baby. However, I had to endure it because you were my ATM.”
Aunt Elizabeth couldn’t believe her ears when she heard that her beloved baby had been killed by Jamie and Lily. A surge of anger rose in her heart. She approached her niece step by step, Lily staggered forward and vomited on her.
Aunt Elizabeth slapped her hard across her face and she fell on the ground. Her head was buzzing, and her face was burning. Lily tried to stand up several times, to no avail. She was highly intoxicated.
When Aunt Elizabeth saw her niece struggling she reached out her hand to help her. Lily pushed her so hard and said, “Leave me alone. You are so evil.”
When Aiden heard the commotion he walked towards them. He opened his eyes wide when he saw Lily pushing his mother. Elizabeth tumbled down the stairs, and then everything became quiet.
It was a nasty fall. Aiden shouted, “Mom.” He ran to his room to fetch his phone, and he immediately called an ambulance.
Then he rushed to where his mother was lying. He was so scared he thought his mother was dead. Aiden shouted at Lily and asked, “Why did you push my mother, Lily?” Lily was sobbing, everything happened so fast.
While he was waiting for an ambulance, he called the police. The ambulance and the police arrived at the same time.
Aiden told the police that Lily pushed his mother down, and then the police read her rights and took her away.
The paramedics checked Elizabeth’s pulse, then they took her away. When they arrived at the hospital, Elizabeth was rushed to the emergency room. An hour later, the attending doctor approached Aiden.
His face was somber, and he said, “Mr Martins, your mother has a severe injury. She suffered from a Cervical Spinal Cord injury and it is life-threatening.
Unfortunately, our specialist, Dr Taylor, is on maternity leave, and she is not allowed to touch a scalpel.
Also, our Senior Neurologist, Dr Lambert, had a bereavement in the family. We are scared that we might lose your mother at the operation table.”
Aiden looked at the doctor and asked, “Is Dr Taylor the same person as Avery Martins?” The attending doctor nodded his head. Aiden smiled and thanked the doctor.
Aiden looked at his watch, it was 2 am. He took his phone and dialed his father’s number. Caia took her husband’s phone, but she didn’t answer it because it was from her husband’s son.
She woke her husband up and said, “Honey, Aiden is calling you.” Baby Alexis was teething and he was fussing a lot. So, his father had been taking care of him. He was so sleepy and replied, “Please answer the phone, Darling.”
Caia put a phone on a speaker and said, “Hello.” Aiden was taken aback when he heard a woman’s voice answering his father’s phone.
He nearly fainted with anger, his mother was fighting for her life, but his father was playing house with his gold digger.
He gritted his teeth and asked, “Who gave you the right to answer my father’s phone? Who do you think you are? Give the phone to my father.”
His father became angry and said, “My dearest wife, no one has a right to bully you. Please switch off the phone and sleep.” Caia hesitated and asked, “What if something bad has happened, my love?”
