Two months later, the Martins family, relatives, and friends visited the Ford family at Sandton for betrothal gifts. Their engagement banquet took place the following day.
The Ford family invited influential people to their youngest daughter’s engagement banquet.
A month later, Caia had a breathtakingly beautiful beach wedding at His Goodness Resort. Mr Ford’s heart swelled with pride when he was walking his lovely daughter down the aisle.
August had taken two months’ vacation leave for their honeymoon. They took Avery’s advice and stayed for two weeks at Mauritius luxurious resort.
Two weeks later, they were at the pristine ivory sands and shimmering crystalline waters of Seychelles Resort. Then they visited Hawaii and the Maldives.
A few days after they returned from their honeymoon, Caia fell sick, and she didn’t have an appetite. Her husband was so scared he took her to the hospital. The attending doctor took the blood tests.
Then he referred them to Dr Fowler. She smiled brightly and said, “Congratulations, Mrs Martins. You are ten weeks pregnant.” The couple was over the moon. They went to Avery’s office to tell her the good news.
Avery was happy for them when she heard the news and said, “Congratulations, Daddy, Mom. I cannot wait to hold my little brother or sister in my arms.” Then she hugged them.
When they arrived home, August took his wife in his arms and went to their bedroom. He helped her to wear pajamas, then he tucked her under the covers.
He looked at his wife with eyes full of love and said, “Thank you so much, Darling, for blessing me with an additional member of the family. Do you want something to eat?”
Caia shook her head and replied, “I am not hungry, my love. I want to sleep.” August sat on the bed beside his wife, then he took his phone and dialed his mother-in-law’s number.
When it was connected, he said, “Hello Mom, are you well?” His mother-in-law smiled brightly and replied, “All is well with us. How was your honeymoon, Son?”
August smiled and replied, “It was fantastic, Mom. We have good news. Mom, we are ten weeks pregnant.” His mother-in-law was so happy that she cried, and said, Congratulations, Son. How is my daughter?”
August sighed and replied, “She doesn’t have an appetite, Mom. What do you suggest, Mom?” His mother-in-law told him that Caia took after her. When she was pregnant with Caia she barely ate during the first three months.
She told her son-in-law to feed her porridge, and then she promised she would come with her husband to take care of Caia. August was happy to hear that.
Then August called Caia’s sister and told her the good news. She asked for her help. Fifteen minutes later, Caroline knocked at her sister’s mansion. Her brother-in-law opened the door beaming with joy.
Caroline smiled and said, “Congratulations, brother-in-law. Let me go to the kitchen to prepare porridge for my sister.”
When the porridge was ready, she handed the bowl to her brother-in-law. August thanked her, and then he went to their bedroom and woke up his wife.
Caroline quickly prepared dinner for her brother-in-law. While she was cooking, Caia walked into the kitchen and hugged her sister tightly, smiling broadly.
Caroline smiled back at her and said, “Congratulations, baby sister. You have to eat the porridge until you have your appetite back. I was like that as well when I was pregnant with Xavier.” She hugged her sister, grinning from ear to ear.
A few days later, Caia’s parents arrive at the Martins mansion. Caroline was so happy to have her parents ten minutes away from her. The Taylor family decided to spend the weekends at the Martins mansion.
At the Hunter mansion, Hunter and Marcia’s relationship was still the same. She refused to meet her boyfriend’s friends and his family. It seemed as if Marcia was waiting for someone or something.
One day, Hunter looked at her and asked, “Marcia, do you love me?” Marcia became upset and replied, “Hunter, stop asking me silly questions. What do you want from me?”
Hunter smiled at his girlfriend and said, “Let’s get married, Marcia.” Marcia looked at Hunter annoyed and replied, “I told you that I wanted to take things slow.
I am not ready to settle down yet. I will let you know when I am ready. Please stop pressurizing me.”
Unbeknownst to Hunter, Marcia was waiting for her ex-boyfriend to come back to her. She didn’t have any feelings for Hunter.
A month later, Marcia surprised Hunter. She smiled brightly and said, “Hunter, I am ready to settle down. You can propose to me anytime you wish.”
Hunter was over the moon. He went to the Taylor Jewelry to buy a big diamond ring. Then he booked a private room at His Grace Hotel. He also arranged for Marcia’s favourite Jazz singer, Errol Gumede, to sing during the proposal.
Hunter told his friends that he would be proposing to the love of his love on Saturday. They congratulated him and wished him all the best.
Ross and Gabriella had already registered their marriage. Grandpa Bradley was bragging about his brand-new daughter-in-law. Chase and Fia were busy preparing for their wedding.
Xavier told his friends that he and his wife would be attending a family friend’s wedding in Pretoria on Saturday. He called Hunter and said, “My friend, I wish you all happiness.” Hunter thanked his friend’s best wishes.
Finally, it was Saturday. Hunter was grinning from ear to ear because he was going to propose to the love of his life. He took his girlfriend to His Grace Hotel.
Their private room was romantically decorated with rose petals. The non-alcoholic wine was chilling in the ice bucket. Jazz singer, Errol was already there waiting for the lovebirds.
During dinner, Hunter was nervous and happy. He knelt on one knee and said, “Marcia, I love what I am when I am with you. Will you do me the honour to be my wife?” Before Marcia responded, her phone started ringing.
Marcia raised her hand to silence Hunter, then she answered her phone and said, “Hello.”
Her ex-boyfriend replied, “Hello Marcia. It’s me. I want you back. I love you so much. My life will be meaningless without you in it. Will you marry me?”
Marcia couldn’t believe her ears that she cried tears of joy and replied, “Yes, I will marry you.”
Then she looked at Hunter and said, “Why don’t you go home and play house with your little girlfriend, Portia? I have never loved you. I agreed to be your girlfriend because there was a misunderstanding between me and my boyfriend.”
Then she took her designer handbag and ran out of the private room. Her ex-boyfriend was in another private room at His Grace Hotel.
Hunter was so shocked his mind went blank. The Jazz singer, Errol, walked to him and said, “I am sorry, Mr Woods.” Then Hunter snapped back to his senses. He thanked Errol and stayed in the private room for a long time.
Later, Hunter was scrolling on social media when he saw Marcia accepting a marriage proposal from another man. He felt cold hands pinching his fragile heart. He didn’t know how to tell his grandfather the bad news.
When he thought about the love they shared with Portia, his heart became bitter. He wished he could press the rewind button.
Later, Xavier shared the video clip of the couple exchanging their wedding vows. Hunter’s heart almost stopped when he saw the bride. Portia was smiling sweetly at the groom. She married her childhood friend, Atlas Roberts.
