Avery looked at her husband with pleading eyes and asked, “Honey, why don’t we send the Social worker with Wayne to visit the Moore family to check if Sage is alright? I have a feeling that Sage is in a bad situation.”
Xavier looked at his wife helplessly and replied, “Alright, Sweetheart. I will contact the social worker in the morning.” Then he pulled his wife into his embrace and said, “Try to sleep, Sweetheart.”
A few minutes later, Avery was in a deep sleep. Xavier was wide awake thinking about his wife’s dream. He didn’t want to be involved in Moore’s family matters. However, he couldn’t ignore his wife’s dream.
Since it was Sunday, they woke up around eight. After they washed up, they headed to the living room to greet the elders. Then Avery went to the kitchen to help her mother-in-law with breakfast.
During breakfast, Xavier looked at his Grandpa and said, “Grandpa, my wife had a dream about Sage crying for help. We think it would be wise to send the Social worker to the Moore family mansion to take a look. What do you think, Grandpa?”
Grandpa Taylor looked at Avery and replied, “You are such a good child, my granddaughter in love. Sage wants to see you dead, but you haven’t given up on her. I will always be eternally grateful to the Lord for blessing the Taylor family with you.
There is no harm in asking the Social worker to take a look. Maybe Sage really needs help.” Her mother-in-law squeezed her hand and said, “Let’s pray that Sage is alright, Sweetheart.”
After breakfast, Xavier took his phone and dialed his friend’s number, who was the head of the Social workers at Umhlanga Rocks.
When it was connected he said, “Hello Kenny, I am sorry to disturb you while you are resting. I need help. Do you have a Social worker that is on standby?”
Kenny’s voice was filled with concern and asked, “What is wrong, Xavier?” Xavier told his friend that he wanted to check if his daughter was alright at the Moore family mansion.
Kenny heaved a sigh of relief and replied, “Since I am not busy I will go to the Moore mansion to take a look.” Xavier was moved and replied, “Thank you so much, my friend. I will ask Wayne to fetch you. I owe you.”
Kenny laughed and replied, “This is nothing compared to your wedding invitation. I am still bragging to my friends to date.” Then they hung up.
Xavier dialed Wayne’s number. When it was connected he said, “Hello Wayne, please take one of the bodyguards with you and fetch Kenny. Please take him to the Moore family mansion to check if Sage is alright.” Then they hung up.
At the Moore mansion, Sage was still living a miserable life. Her little body was covered with bruises. After Mr Moore slapped Valeria, she started pinching her niece in places where her father would not see.
Valeria woke up in a good mood, then she went to the bathroom to take a bath. She didn’t notice that the bathroom mats were missing. Her mother washed them the previous day, and she forgot to replace them with clean mats.
She decided to take a shower, but she didn’t close the shower door. She was singing aloud in the shower. When she got out of the shower she slipped and fell on the floor. Her head bumped into the shower door. It was so painful she nearly cried.
When she walked towards her bedroom, she saw Sage laughing at some cartoons on television. She nearly fainted with anger. It seemed as if Sage was laughing at her.
She went to her bedroom and took a small leather whip from her closet. She bought the whip recently to punish Sage when she was upset. Her father went to meet a friend for a business deal. So, no one would help Sage today.
She didn’t even wear her clothes. She went to the living room covered in a towel. She looked at the child viciously and asked, “Why did you remove the mats from the bathroom? Why are you so wicked?” Then she started beating up the child with a whip.
Mrs Moore looked at Valeria beating her granddaughter, but she didn’t utter a word. She didn’t care if Sage was alive or dead. She continued playing games on her phone as if nothing had happened.
Valeria beat her niece everywhere in her little body. The blood was streaming from her head. There was also a gash in her face. Sage cried out loud, asking for help from her grandmother to no avail.
At that moment, Wayne kicked the door and ran to Sage, who was lying on the floor in a pool of blood. He took the whip from Valeria and started beating her up.
Since she was wearing a towel and nothing underneath, the towel fell when she was trying to run. She was beaten up thoroughly, and then Wayne walked to Mrs Moore and asked, “Why are you not protecting your grandchild from that lunatic?”
Mrs Moore was so scared she opened her mouth but no words came out. Wayne was fuming with anger, then he started beating her up, all over her body. She cried out loud, but Wayne ignored her cries.
Kenny called the police, then he took Sage to the hospital. Wayne called his boss and said, “Mr Taylor, Sage has been taken to the hospital by Kenny. It doesn’t look good.” Then they hung up.
Xavier called his best friend, Chase, and said, “Hello Chase, something happened to Sage. Where are you?” Fortunately, Chase was at the hospital. He went to the hospital to check on his patient.
At that moment, Chase saw Kenny carrying a child in his arms. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw Sage, she was so thin. She was a shadow of herself.
Chase took her from Kenny and ran to the emergency room. The Taylor family went to the hospital to see Sage. Avery and her mother-in-law were crying.
At the Moore mansion, the police came and arrested Mrs Moore and her daughter. When they were in custody, Mrs Moore called her husband and asked him to bail them out.
Mr Moore was so scared he bade his friend goodbye and rushed to the police station. He felt dizzy when the police officer told him that his wife and daughter had been arrested for attempted murder.
A few hours later, Chase walked to the Taylor family in a somber mood and said, “We nearly lost Sage at the operation table. She is badly injured, and she is suffering from malnutrition. It is clear that Sage was not happy at the Moore mansion.”
Xavier thanked the Lord for using Avery as a vessel to save his daughter. He pulled his wife in a tight embrace and said, “Thank you so much, my stunning wife, for saving Sage again.”
Then he told Chase about Avery’s dream. Chase was dumbfounded when he heard his sister-in-law’s dream.
