Agnes was already hungry when she got up, her stomach rumbling loudly. She sat down at the dining table and said, “Thank you, brother-in-law! I won’t be shy, this bread looks really good!” She picked up a piece of bread from the plate and gently broke it open with her fingers, revealing the red bean filling inside and a pleasant aroma wafted towards her. “Here, try this!” She handed half of the bread to the girl beside her, bit into the other half herself, and looked at Spencer with bright eyes, “This taste is absolutely amazing, so soft! It’s been a long time since I’ve had red beans! Delicious!”
Summer reached out and took the half piece of bread from her sister. Summer was slightly bowing her head as she was eating porridge. Her satin-like black hair covered her cheeks, her nose as delicate as jade, her dark eyelashes, her skin white as snow, and a slight blush on her face all made Spencer’s heart flutter. Such a beautiful morning was undoubtedly wonderful, being able to see her first thing in the morning, being able to make breakfast for her, being able to say good morning to her. If she could wake up in his arms, Spencer felt his life would be complete.
After breakfast, he drove Agnes to Marsh Group first. Then he took Summer to the film set. A grand and solemn traditional wedding concept was forming in Spencer’s mind since last night; his brain was particularly active. He contacted the most professional traditional wedding planning team; everyone started discussing and he also proposed many ideas hoping they could be integrated.
In the morning, Agnes was in her office feeling especially happy because her sister was getting married but also sad because of something her sister had reminded her of last night… Every time she thought about the kitten, she would switch to another mood. The man who once lit up her entire youth, was he really an old man? Agnes sat in her office chair, pulled out her smartphone, opened her social media account, and looked again at that kitten avatar that had been gray for several years. She thought to herself, if he were an old man, how could he possibly use such a cute munchkin cat as an avatar? Even if he was an old man, his heart must still be filled with innocence.
Her fingertips lightly touched the screen to enlarge the cat avatar; Agnes suddenly felt a moment of daze-how similar this cat looked to ‘Bubu’ at home? A warm feeling spread in her heart; the kitten on the avatar made her heart flutter more and more; she knew that all munchkin cats looked similar in this world. But when missing someone, even taking several detours could lead one to think of him. Perhaps this was fate; it was God’s arrangement that sent a kitten named ‘Bubu’ into her life. She knew this wasn’t dispelling the longing but deepening it… because she always remembered him, especially when holding Bubu. Perhaps because they had never met face-to-face that she couldn’t stop thinking about him.
Because there were regrets left behind, there were always expectations. This feeling might not be called fondness but an obsession that ordinary people couldn’t understand; yet Agnes was very clear that she seemed to have spent all her life’s energy waiting for him.
The ringing of the phone interrupted her thoughts; Agnes glanced at the caller ID before answering, “Hello, Spencer.”
“I forgot to ask you today; is that cat easy to take care of?” Spencer’s voice came through. “Do you like it?”
