“Flynn, stop right there.”
Madeline chased after him and confronted Flynn, saying coldly:
“Thank you for helping me deceive my father.”
“But please stop following me, stop inquiring about me, and stop doing things that you think will impress me, because we are not possible anymore.”
Flynn froze for a moment, puzzled, and said, “I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”
Seeing Flynn’s denial, a flash of disgust crossed Madeline’s eyes as she coldly stated, “If you hadn’t been looking into my affairs, how would you know about my injury?”
“And if it wasn’t to ask me to get back together, why would you go to the Stewart family to seek revenge for me?”
Flynn was taken aback again, then he realized and chuckled:
“Miss Kaur, I think you’re mistaken. They cut off supplies to Orco Real Estate, and I was just sorting that out. It had nothing to do with you.”
“Please don’t flatter yourself, okay?”
Madeline crossed her arms and eyed Flynn coldly: “Orco Real Estate is Nathan’s business. With such a big issue, why didn’t you consult him instead of handling it yourself?”
She scoffed at this poor excuse, believing she had seen through Flynn’s real intentions. Flynn had concocted this story just to save face.
“Nathan? Since when did Orco Real Estate become Nathan’s? It’s mine!” Flynn said with a puzzled expression.
Madeline snorted in derision, thinking Flynn was beyond help, to claim Orco Real Estate as his own.
If she hadn’t known Nathan was the real power behind it, she might have believed him.
“Say whatever you want, I’m done discussing this.”
“My dad likes you a lot, and for his sake, I feel obliged to warn you.”
“You should leave Ostrad soon. I heard Layla went to Slatin again to help Lilia pull in investments.”
“This time they’ve approached the Wakasa Consortium, a powerful group that will invest ten billion dollars in the Hussain’s Group.”
“With other investors, the three-company alliance will have a cash flow of a hundred billion.”
“The Sharp’s Group will undoubtedly lose, and you’ll be the scapegoat,” Madeline stated coolly.
Flynn scoffed, dismissively saying, “The Wakasa Consortium? So what? Does having a hundred billion mean they’ll win?”
“A scapegoat? That won’t happen!”
“The Sharp’s Group will win and make a return of hundreds of billions. The investors in the Sharp’s Group will be too busy thanking me. Why would I run?”
Madeline laughed lightly, her voice laced with disdain.
Nathan and Rose are really good at painting grand visions, turning Flynn into a fool.
That’s the downside of spending ten years in prison.
No social experience, short-sighted, and he’s developed a gangster air, thinking Nathan is good to him, blindly following and trusting him.
Well, I’m going to marry Nathan; it’s not good to expose him now.
I’ve warned Flynn enough. Whether he believes it or not, I’ve done my part.
“I know you hate the Kaur family, but please don’t hurt them anymore.”
“Charlotte is foul-mouthed, I know, but having the owner of Jade Ridge Jewelers tear up her mouth, wasn’t that too much?”
Upon hearing this, Flynn burst into laughter and said, “Please do some research before you speak.”
“I didn’t say a word. Mr. Lawson wanted to tear Charlotte’s mouth, how is that my fault?”
“If you’re upset, go find Mr. Lawson.”
Madeline’s face darkened. This man changes faces faster than flipping a book.
He was licking his face to help me at noon, and after I made my stance clear just now, knowing there’s no hope with me, he changed his attitude and treated me like an enemy?
Good!
This attitude is perfect.
Let Flynn feel desperate, annoyed with me, hating me, so he’ll stop fawning over me.
“The incident was indeed Mr. Lawson’s doing, but if you had just advised him, he would have spared Charlotte. Now that she’s disfigured, you share the responsibility,” Madeline stated coldly.
“Advise him?” Flynn laughed sarcastically, his eyes full of contempt: “Charlotte’s words were venomous, wishing I was hit by a car and my ashes scattered. Why would I advise him?”
Madeline said, “She has always been like this, a few slaps would suffice. Must you destroy her?”
“A few slaps? Haven’t you slapped her before? Has she changed? Isn’t she still endlessly provoking me?” Flynn laughed when he heard this, his eyes full of disappointment.
What a hypocritical woman.
There’s a saying, ‘Do not preach benevolence without understanding another’s suffering.’ If Flynn were not so high in status and was just an ordinary person, with Charlotte’s demeanor, Chance would likely have broken his legs.
And now, Madeline thinks he’s being excessive?
“You are so unreasonable, I can’t even talk to you. Do as you like then.”
“All I’m saying is to make fewer enemies, so my father won’t worry.”
“Since you continue to do as you please, don’t blame me when things go south. Just wait until the sky falls; you’ll find that there’s no place for you in this world.”
After saying this coldly, Madeline was about to return to the hospital room but suddenly stopped, and without turning her head, said:
“I know you’re still in contact with Scarlet, trying to persuade me to change my mind, aren’t you?”
“Save it, no matter who tries to persuade me, I won’t turn back. As I’ve said before, we’re better off apart, each finding our own happiness!”
“Also, Scarlet is still young, only nineteen. I hope that after you fail with me, you won’t start targeting her.”
“You’re not worthy of her.”
After saying this, Madeline entered the hospital room without looking back.
“Crazy!” Flynn muttered angrily, feeling that Madeline was too self-centered, always linking her actions to herself, which was truly exasperating.
Flynn left the hospital and was about to get into his car when an Alfa business van pulled up beside him.
A well-dressed, efficient-looking elderly man stepped out of the vehicle.
Behind him followed six bodyguards.
Flynn squinted his eyes; all of them were Grandmasters!
The elderly man in the suit looked down at Flynn and said:
“Are you Flynn?”
“Yes, what about it?” Flynn replied indifferently, sensing hostility.
The old man stood proudly, straightening his body: “I am PelensZion’s old servant, you may call me Xavier.”
Xavier, a name unfamiliar to the common folk in Niarak but well-known in Pelens, resonated like thunder, recognized by every household.
He represented the majesty of the Pelens king!
Who was Zion?
The sky of Pelens!
Undoubtedly Pelens’ most influential person!
Even Mr. Richardson of Pelens would show him respect, for behind Zion stood a vast and powerful family, the foremost in Martial Arts in Southern China!
How strong was Zion?
Even Grandmaster Xavier felt honored to be Zion’s servant, speaking with such superiority.
The strength of the Hussain family was indeed formidable.
“Oh? You wanted to see me?” Flynn asked coolly.
Xavier nodded: “I am here under PelensZion’s orders to prepare for Miss Hamilton’s birthday dinner the day after tomorrow…”
“Hold on!” Flynn frowned and said coldly: “Zion didn’t come?”
Such an important matter, and Zion sent a servant to handle it?
Was he not supposed to come to Niarak himself to make up for twenty years of absent fatherhood?
Hypocrisy!
Utterly insincere!
It seemed Harriet really was just a tool for alliance in his eyes.
“Niarak, such a small place, cannot accommodate the master’s stature. He disdains to travel here repeatedly.”
“On Miss Hamilton’s birthday, he will come, and he will return to Pelens the same day.”
“Because the master is not accustomed to staying in such a backwater as Niarak.”
Hearing this, Flynn sneered.
Niarak, merely a prefecture-level city, indeed could not compare with the provincial capital of Pelens.
Moreover, Pelens, being an ancient capital of three dynasties, naturally had the capital of arrogance.
But I’ve never disdained Niarak, how dare Zion?
What a damn pretender!
