In a large and quiet cemetery, surrounded with so many graves, Olivia sat in front of her mom’s grave, her eyes red and puffy.
She stood there, for what seemed like an hour, after which she dropped a bouquet of flowers and managed to drag her foot and turned around, even though they were trying to fight against her.
Morgan stood not so far away, watching her petite and fragile body walking towards him, while trying to hold in all the pain and ache she felt deep down.
His heart tugged, with emotions he couldn’t hold on to, or point out, his jaw tightened as he clenched his fists and watched her walk up to him.
Just when he had thought that Olivia was going to hug him and sob in his arms, she walked past him, anf helped herself into the car.
When they were back to the mansion, instead of Olivia heading to her room, she sat on the couch in the living room, and turned her gaze towards Morgan, who frowned.
“What? What’s with the look?”
“You know, this is the only thing that’s keeping me here.” Olivia said, lowering her gaze to her stomach.
Morgan’s frown got deeper, he was about to say something when his phone started to vibrate in his pants. He took it out and glanced at the screen, which flashed with the doctor’s caller ID.
He swiped up to answer it, all through the call his eyes were fixed on Olivia, who still had her gaze lowered, while waiting for the call to end.
“Does your mom have a sister?”
Morgan suddenly asked, making Olivia raise her face to look at him.
“Sister? No, not one I could remember.”
“I think I have a clue then.”
Olivia knitted her brows, “What are you not telling me?”
“I think I have a clue on your mom’s killer. Someone had been visiting her in disguise of her sister.”
“But why didn’t she tell me or anyone?” Olivia said, confusion etched on her face.
“Exactly the point. Go and rest up, I’ll head to the hospital.”
“I’m coming with you.”
“Which part of rest up, did you not hear?”
“She’s my mother, I’m coming with you and that’s final.” Olivia stated, and got up from the couch.
Morgan didn’t want to argue with her as he knew she could be really stubborn whenever she wants. Besides she was right, it’s about her mother, she had every right to know about her.
It wasn’t long before the car pulled up in front of the hospital, Morgan came down, followed by Olivia who was quick to open the door and got down.
Inside the doctor’s office, the nurses were all present including the doctor. The bowed in unison inform of a greeting, as soon as Morgan walked in with Olivia.
Morgan grabbed a chair for Olivia and himself.
The doctor cleared his throat and began, “The woman who visits your mom, have her name as Helen. I’m asking if you know any acquittance of hers that bears such name? He said, turning at Olivia.
Olivia seemed to think for a while and shook her head. “I don’t know, but If there was something like a photo or footage of her entrance, I might recall her face.” She added.
“We’ve already checked, there’s no footage of her, it’s all gone.”
“Or maybe a description.”
“Yeah, a description, I can sketch something out.” Olivia said, nodding at Morgan, who suggested the idea.
“You can sketch?” Morgan asked, his gaze fixed on her.
“Hmm” Olivia nodded.
A pen and paper was brought to Olivia, as one of the nurses described what Hilda looked like. Olivia gave a final touch to the sketch and showed it to the nurse to confirm if it truly was same person.
“That’s exactly what she looked liked.” One of the nurses pointed out.
A smile which Morgan didn’t notice, escaped his lips, when he noticed he was smiling because of a sketch drew by Olivia, he pinched the bridge of his nose, regaining his aloof and mean expression.
“Is her face familiar to you?” Morgan asked, as he scanned Olivia’s face.
Olivia turned the paper to look at the sketch, after thinking for some while, she shook her head. Deep down she was thinking of where she saw the face, but couldn’t point out where or when she saw it. It just seemed familiar.
“You’re sure?” Came Morgan’s voice.
“Yeah, it just looks familiar to me, but I don’t really remember her.”
“Alright, I think we should wait and see it she would come back to check on her.” the doctor breathed out
“What if she doesn’t return? She killed someone and she knows it will all point at her, she won’t return.” Olivia stated.
“I’m sure she must have instructed your mom not to kill herself on the day she visited. The nurses said your mom died the night she visited, she might come back to check if really your mom is dead, if she doesn’t then…” Morgan paused, he lifted his gaze at the nurses who looked down almost immediately, as not to meet his gaze.
“Then what?” Olivia almost snapped.
“Then there’s a spy among these nurses. She has one or two partners with her, who will inform her on the incident.”
Olivia frowned and raised her head to look at the nurses. As much as Olivia wanted to doubt Morgan’s words, she couldn’t bring herself to. If there’s anything she’s learned so hard in her entire life, it’s to not trust anyone. She nodded, in accordance to Morgan’s words.
*Larry’s House*
“Where the hell is this money? I can’t find it!” Larry growled, his patience already worn out, as he raked his whole room.
“Are you sure, you kept it there? I mean, I would have seen it, if it were there.” Hilda asked, as she faked her action to be helping him look for the money.
“I’m sure, I kept it in here, I can’t find it!”
“How much is it?”
“It’s twenty Million pesos.”
“That’s quite huge, but don’t let it stress you, I’ll help you look for it, okay?”
“You’re going to stress the baby, allow me to look for it.”
“You know I can’t leave, when I know you’re looking for something very important. I’m even Jealous that, it’s getting more attention than I am right now.”
“You know I love much more, okay, fine, I’ll forfeit looking for it right now. Come let’s make you happy.” He said and went to grab her waist.
Hilda laughed, more of a victory laugh. She actually took the money Larry was looking for, but she couldn’t bring herself to tell him. She knew she could actually use her mood and coquettish voice to make him forget about the money and that’s what really happened.
****
“How are you feeling today, stressed?”
Olivia paused, as she heard Morgan’s voice behind her. She turned to him staring at her, with what seemed like worry and tenderness etched on his face.
That can’t be a worried expression, I’m rather seeing things.
“You’re okay? His voice came again, this time closer towards her.
Olivia nodded, as she put a little gap between them.
“Don’t forget to come drink the tonic.”
Olivia nodded again, slightly feeling awkward.
With that Morgan walked past her and head to his room, while Olivia stood rooted to the ground, her gaze fixed on his retreating figure.
