Chapter 74

Book:The CEO'S Delicate Wife Published:2024-9-18

“How is she doing?”
“I can’t say she’s fine, she’s barely holding it in, I mean, she’s slowly losing it. The more she wants to fight the pain, the weaker she gets. She might lose the child if this doesn’t go well. It’s almost her second month of pregnancy.” The doctor said, staring at Morgan like he was the only hope.
Morgan seemed to understand what the doctor was trying to tell him, after he seemed to think for a while, he nodded.
“Once she’s up, I’ll take her home.” Morgan said, turning to look at the bed, where Olivia laid.
“I’d get some medicines ready before then.”
Morgan nodded.
He is yet to tell Olivia about the findings of her mom’s death, but her state of health, he wasn’t ready to risk it, especially not when she’s pregnant with his child.
He already called Fredrick, to come down to Manilla, so he would be the one taking care of Olivia’s health, he can’t keep bringing her to the hospital all the time, besides Fredrick was more enhanced with medicines.
It wasn’t long before Olivia woke up, her pale and dull eyes scanned the room, releasing she was in the hospital, she sighed, tears suddenly clouding her eyes.
“Hey, let’s get home already.” Morgan sighed, getting up from the couch, as soon as he noticed she was awake.
Olivia nodded, not saying a word, she was at least thankful that the doctor didn’t put her on a ventilator machine.
Fredrick was already in the living room, even before Morgan could come home. He was going through his phone, when he noticed Morgan’s footsteps, he looked up to see him carrying Olivia’s thin body.
He frowned, nothing got him more than the slight frown and worry etched on Morgan’s face. Morgan was actually and obviously worried for the woman he was carrying, interesting, very interesting.
“Dude?” He stood up, and followed Morgan to the Master’s bedroom.
“Gosh! She’s thinner than the last time I saw her, don’t tell me it’s only because she’s pregnant.”
Morgan shot him a glance and looked away, “Which part of what I said earlier, didn’t you hear?” He asked, his voice somewhat angry and unnaturally cold.
Fredrick nodded, not wanting him to get him further annoyed, as he could already read his expression, at least he wasn’t stingy with showing how angry he is.
“She lost her mom, it’s the only family she had left.” Morgan suddenly said, using the quilt to cover her body, as he sat besides her.
“This isn’t good, she’s losing it, look at her face.” Fredrick said, walking up to the bed, as he used his hand to touch her head.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Morgan half yelled, shooting him a glare.
“I’m just checking her temperature.”
“I’m sure there are other ways to check it, other than touching her face directly.”
“Oops, dude? Not like I’m taking her from you.”
Morgan frowned at him.
“Fine, fine, I won’t touch her again, not with my bare hands at least.”
“Good.”
Just then Olivia stirred, getting their attention, she’s been on and off all these while, sleeping more, when she gets up she’d start crying until she sleeps back off.
“I’d be in the kitchen, I’ll make some tonic for her, it would help replenish her strength, she’s too weak.” Fredrick said and left the room with his bag.
“My mom said she’s with me, but she already left me. Do all mothers lie?” she whined, talking to no one in particular.
Even the most heartless and numb person, wouldn’t help but feel a little pity for Olivia, she looked miserable and pitiful.
“Come here.” Morgan slowly pulled her to his chest, and began to stroke her hair.
“I’ll help you get revenge on whoever did that to your mom, okay?” Morgan promised, his voice surprisingly low and soothing.
Olivia smiled sadly and nodded.
“I want you to make me a promise.” Morgan said, still stroking her hair.
“I want you to promise me that you will stop crying. Will you?”
Olivia remained silent, her pale gaze fixed on Morgan.
“What about my mom?”
“We both know that crying wouldn’t bring her back. I’ll arrange a funeral for her, only you can get to talk to her alone, your father wouldn’t be allowed there, or anyone close to him. That, I promise you.”
Olivia seemed to think for a while, before she nodded. Just then, they were interrupted by Fredrick’s appearance.
“The tonic is ready, drink it while it’s hot.” Frederick said, handling the cup to Morgan.
Morgan stirred it and helped Olivia to drink it, but she pushed away his arm, obviously not wanting to drink it.
“It’s bitter,” she spat out the liquid in her mouth.
Fredrick cracked up, “It’s not even close to bitter, it’s made from fruits, pomegranates to be precise.”
Morgan scooped a spoon to his mouth, and found out it was even sweet. “It’s not bitter, Olivia.”
“I don’t want it.” She hissed.
Morgan turned towards Fredrick, “You said this would help with replenishing her strength?”
Fredrick nodded, “It will also help with her appetite and taste buds.”
Morgan drank a mouthful from the cup, Fredrick frowned, “I didn’t make the tonic for you, it’s for….”
He paused in sentence, seeing Morgan leaned towards Olivia and engaged her in a kiss, slowly releasing the liquid into her mouth and she swallowed.
His eyes widened in surprise, he wiped his face as if to be convinced he wasn’t seeing things. Morgan was really feeding Olivia through his mouth, now Fredrick was convinced that Morgan really had something for her. If not, the Morgan he knew, wouldn’t bring himself to touch a woman and talk more about feeding her through his mouth.
Fredrick was still thinking, when Morgan handed the cup to him, all the contents in the cup were gone, he smiled awkwardly and took the cup.
“What happens next?”
“Uhhm, once she’s up, she’ll get hungry, very hungry.”
Morgan nodded and excused himself to get a napkin to wipe off her mouth. Once he was out, Fredrick cleared his throat and began.
“I’ve never seen that kind of feeding before, I.. I”
“You’re welcome.” Morgan said, brushing past him.
“I think I found something else in the tests.” Fredrick suddenly said.
“What?” Morgan turned to look at him.
“She’s…”
Cough! cough!
Olivia suddenly coughed, disrupting the conversation.
