Olivia’s wet lashes fluttered open, revealing her pale hazel eyes. She struggled to get up, but found out she was infused with a ventilator, she sighed in frustration and gave up the struggle.
It’s marking the third time Olivia woke up in a hospital, was being pregnant this horrible and tiresome? She was either weak or always passing out.
Just then the door was pushed open from outside, revealing Morgan’s tall and handsome face.
“How are you feeling?” Morgan asked, moving closer to the bed.
Olivia remained silent, and closed her eyes obviously not wanting to see him. It was actually the first time he was asking her how she was doing since she got pregnant, how nice of him?
“Do you feel the baby, is it okay?” He asked again.
Olivia’s eyes flung open and she glared at him, just when she was about to say something the door was opened and the doctor walked in.
“How are you feeling ma?” The doctor smiled gently, walking towards the bed, with the files in his hands.
Olivia used her finger to point at the ventilator covering her mouth, the doctor nodded and gently removed it.
“Horrible, I feel horrible.” She muttered.
“I’m sorry dear, that’s how it is, early Pregnancy doesn’t disturb some people but it differs with the body. It’s your first time getting pregnant and you’re young, so with time these sicknesses will stop okay?”
Olivia nodded, “Thank you.”
“Mr Gilbert, can I speak with you in my office?”
Morgan glanced at him and nodded, he followed the doctor out from the ward.

“Hi Lily, did you miss me?” Hilda smiled, grabbing a chair to sit behind Lily’s bed.
“It’s time I tell the nurses to stop letting you in.”
“You won’t dare, try it and see how your most precious secret will be known to everyone including your precious daughter. Hold on, did you change your mind about letting her know?”
“Why are you doing this and what do you want?”
“Don’t ask me that when I came by my own will to check on you. Remember, I told you I’d help you with something that would end your miseries, real soon.”
Lily didn’t even spare her a glance, as she was still wallowing in the thoughts of Olivia’s life turning out like hers.
“Why’s your face like that, wait! Is my dream actually true?”
Lily paused and turned to look at her, “what’s your dream?”
“Your filial slutty daughter got pregnant.”
“What rubbish are you saying?”
“Oh come on, we both know it’s not far from the truth, or you’re hiding something from me? We were once best friends and I know you more than anyone else so come on spill it.”
“Hilda, go to hell! Our friendship ended long ago and our lives have changed, don’t go about telling gibberish to yourself to make you feel okay.”
Hilda frowned, anger evident in her expression, with gritted teeth she smiled and nodded. “Really? Am I really telling gibberish to myself?”
“I’m still wondering, how you’re so jobless, didn’t Larry love you to the extent of starting up something for you? At Least you’d have something better doing than this.”
Hilda couldn’t hold in her anger, she stood up and reached for Lily’s neck, gripping it very tight as if wanting to kill her.
“Let go of my neck!” Lily struggled to get away from her grip, but her strength was no match for Hilda’s.
“I should have done this a long time ago, the moment you moved in with Larry, knowing fully well I was in love with him. You will not dare to speak about Larry or call out his name with your filthy mouth.” Hilda cursed, her voice laced with deep hatred and venom.
Just when Lily thought that she was going to get strangled by Hilda, she let go of her neck, breathing and panting heavily.
“I won’t let my hands get you killed, I have other plans for you.”
Lily was still coughing, rubbing her hurting neck, when she noticed Hilda opening her purse to bring out a knife, a new and shining knife.
She frowned, slowly crawling out of the bed, “What are you trying to do?”
“Ohh, chill I won’t kill you myself, I’m not that heartless, I’m just giving you a way out, okay.”
Lily’s brows deepened deeply, she swallowed, her heart pounding so hard that it could jump out of her chest.
“See, I’m keeping the knife here, I mean no harm to you.” Hilda smiled and sat back on the chair.
“Don’t be scared, just sit, let’s talk about something more important.” she smiled.
Lily nodded, and sat on the bed.
“Like I’ve told you, I mean you no harm, it’s just that whenever I think about the life you’ve led in the past I feel horrible, anyone who knows about it, will surely hate you. Now, think about the possibility of Olivia being in the same mess, can you bear to see her lead such a life?”
“We all know she’s being a good daughter by sleeping with men to gather money for your bills, she’s too young, what if she gets pregnant? These old and rich men only care about their reputation, what about her life? her future? If she gets dumped tomorrow, what do you think she will do? You can’t even help her as a mother, how pathetic?”
Tears were already streaming down Lily’s eyes as he thought about it, she thought about her life, how she struggled to cater for her baby, when everyone she trusted abandoned her, because she was pregnant and underaged.
Her heart tugged with so much pain that she wished she could die.
“You’re crying already? I didn’t mean it for you to cry, I was just stating facts. I know living with so much guilt and past secrets is too hard on you, you’re so strong, I must commend. If it were me, I would have committed suicide and ended everything, I can’t bare to see my daughter lead the life I led, and I can’t help her, I’d just kill myself and get over it.” Hilda sighed, feigning a pitied face.
Lily raised her face to look at her, trying to analyze the meaning of what Hilda was telling her. Hilda shrugged and nodded.
“Follow your heart, do whatever your heart tells you. I know you it’s telling you same thing as what I’m thinking, everyone In this life has a limit, when you can’t go on again, you break.”
Hilda got up, she reached towards where she kept the knife, her fingers grazed the Smooth and cold surface.
“It’s here.” She said, and dropped the knife close to the bed, where Lily’s hands could easily reach for it.
“I will get going, just think about what I told you. Your life is of no importance, you actually caused your daughter’s situation and can’t even help her out of it. Who knows, if you die, she will be able to break free from sleeping with old men and work on her life. Please if you want to make a decision, do it tomorrow, not today, okay?”
With that said, Hilda turned and left the ward. Lily wiped her tears, as her heart raced wildly.
Hilda might be a bad person, but she was right. She’s right that I pushed my daughter into this mess, I’m the cause of whatever she is going through, I still have secrets that I’m not telling her. What does that make me?
As long as I’m alive, Olly can’t lead a normal life, cause all she does is put me first before her own happiness, and what do I give her in return? Nothing.
I’m sorry my dear daughter, you will always and forever be my sweetheart.
Lily’s heart raced wildly, as she stretched her hands and took the knife. Her hands were trembling, unable to hold the knife properly.
She slowly got up from the bed, making her way into the bathroom.
I’m doing the right thing. I know, this is the right thing.
She tried to convince herself, blocking out other possibilities of her doing the wrong thing. Lily closed the door behind her, she faced the mirror, tears streaming down her face.
Just when she was about to strike herself with the knife, the door to the ward was opened and someone walked in.
“Mrs Winters?”
