Chapter 70

Book:The CEO'S Delicate Wife Published:2024-9-11

“What is next?” Morgan has won; he bailed you out of the cell just so you could watch him become the next CEO. “You have got such a sexy psycho step brother.” A teasing female laugh echoed throughout the room.
Xavier smirked, his gaze clouded with hatred and rage. “Morgan might have won this time, let’s see how long he can enjoy his victory.” He spat, his voice laced with venom.
“Oh common Xavi, we both know that, he always ends up outsmarting you in your own games.” She chuckled.
Xavier frowned deeply and turned to look at her, she winked seductively, slowly catching her lower lips between her teeth.
Xavier sighed and looked away, “I thought you were supposed to be on my side, why do you sound like you’re fanning over him?”
“Tsk,” she sighed and walked towards him, slowly closing the gap between them. “You and I know it’s the truth. Your brother always has the upper hand whenever you try to go against him and now? He’s taken over the company.” She smiled, trailing her hands along his chest.
“I know deep down you wanna go out there and crash the whole party, but that’s adding more mud to your reputation. You’ll first clear your reputation, get the city’s trust again, meanwhile Morgan enjoys his victory. He’ll eventually let his guards down, if he doesn’t face an attack from you for a long time, and then you will strike.” she smiled proudly, and pulled away from him.
Xavier’s gaze remained on her face for a while, “I feel like i should award you but not right now, guess what? You’d definitely love it.” he smirked and looked away.
“I can’t wait, but…seems like I’ve got no other option than to wait. Come on, let’s go and mix in the party.” she giggled and grabbed Xavier’s arm.
Just when they were about to open the door, it opened from outside, revealing Stacy’s tall and slender figure, her eyes flashed with hurt as it scanned the girl besides Xavier.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Xavier growled, narrowing his eyes at her.
“Shouldn’t I be asking you?” Stacy asked, crossing her arms together.
“Go ahead, I’ll join you later.” Xavier kissed the girl’s chin, motioning her to leave as he grabbed Stacy and pulled her back into the room.
“What is it that you want?” He asked, obviously irritated at her sudden appearance.
“Are you seriously going to ask me these, Xavier? I’m your wife and have your child, I’ve been visiting you all these while you’ve been in the cell and when you’re out, you ditched me and went to look for some other girl? You didn’t even mind coming back to your house to see me or Cherry, that’s nice of you, I must say.” Stacy stated, wiping off the tears that clouded her eyes.
“What’s with you being dramatic? When did you start caring about all these things?, ohh please get going, I have more important things right now.”
“Xavier I’ve cared, I’ve cared about every single thing you do and each time what you do hurts me. I wouldn’t have known you’re here, if not for Morgan who told me.”
“Hold on” Xavier’s frown deepened as he probed his face close to Stacy’s.
“Morgan told you about where I was?”
“Yes, he’s the only one I recognized in the party and I….”
Paa!!
Stacy’s cheek ached with pain, her eyes stinging with pain as her hands slowly reached for her chin.
“How many times have I warned you to stay away from that idiot?”
“I…i.. I, he was the only one that I knew and could ask about your whereabouts-” her voice fell as she started sobbing.
“Did I ever ask you to look for me? Now, I want you to get out of here and the next time you’d dare to talk to Morgan…. you’d wish that you were never born. Whore!”
Xavier cursed and with that he left angrily, brushing past her like she was some kind of trash.
“Xavi-” she sobbed, clutching her chest.
Stacy was walking out of the room, moving into the crowd, when someone caught her attention, Morgan-
She looked away immediately and hurried out of the crowd, but she couldn’t make it out, as Morgan leaned against the door frame, a glass of wine in his hands and a smirk etched on his face.
“What do you want? I need to get going, I don’t wanna talk to you.” Stacy stated, looking everywhere but his face. Her eyes scanned through the crowd, looking for Xavier, praying he isn’t anywhere close.
“Why don’t you wanna talk to me? Are you afraid to get slapped again? Ouch! That seems to hurt.” Morgan teased and sipped on his wine.
Stacy paused and raised her face to look at him, “What are you talking about?” Stacy asked, her eyes searching the whole crowd again, before settling on Morgan’s face.
“I suggest you stop playing dumb, who doesn’t know that you’re Xavier’s punching bag? He lets out his frustration and anger on you, and you’re such a calm and loyal wife.” He chuckled.
“What do you want?” Stacy asked, glaring at him.
“You don’t need to act hostile around me, I’m your brother-in-law and Cherry’s godfather, either way you’d need my help. So let’s talk, here or..”
“Not here, let’s find somewhere else.”
Morgan smirked and nodded, as he left the place, followed by Stacy whose pace was quickened and fast.
“What do you want to talk about?”
“Hey, mind your tune.”
*****
Olivia yawned, as her eyes fluttered open, she slowly sat up and reparked her hair into a bun. Her eyes settled on the tray of food placed on the desk.
She was quite hungry, so she got up and went for the food, just as she opened it, her stomach churned. She quickly got up from the chair and reached the bathroom, throwing up everything in her stomach.
It has been like that for her, since she got pregnant, heavy and severe morning sickness, sensitive to scents and smell and the rest.
Olivia was still in the washroom throwing up, when she heard one of the servant’s voice, Anna.
“Ma’am? Are you okay?”
She nodded, as if she would hear her nod or know she was nodding.
After a while of not getting any response, Anna went into the washroom and helped Olivia up, bringing her back to the bed.
“Sorry, rest up here, I’d get you warm water.”
Olivia nodded, her bead spinning as she couldn’t feel herself. Soon Anna returned with a glass of water.
“Please drink, I mixed it with some herbs, maybe it could help you.” She said, helping Olivia to gulp it down.
Olivia retched as the liquid met her tongue, “bitter.” She murmured, trying to remove her face.
“It will help you, please drink it.”
Olivia refused, pushing it away, the glass fell from Anna’s hands and smashed on the floor, suddenly startling Olivia.
“I’m so sorry.” Olivia murmured, her voice hazy and low.
Anna nodded and glanced at her face, she frowned when she found out something was wrong with her face.
“Ma’am are you okay?” She asked, her voice laced with worry.
She immediately ran out of the room, and headed to the living room telephone.
Morgan was still drinking with his friends when his phone started vibrating, he glanced at it and saw it was from his house. He frowned and picked it up.
“Hello sir, something is wrong ma’am.”
“I’d be right there.”
Morgan didn’t waste another second, he grabbed his car key and left, under the prying eyes of his friends, giving Chandler the look of ‘I’d be back’
Chandler and Vincent nodded.
