Chapter 1549: Coveting

Just as Leo was about to leave, he heard Chloe’s voice behind him. “Hey, are you selling the dagger sheath?”
“My name is not ‘hey,’ it’s Leo. And no, it’s not for sale,” Leo replied bluntly. “Besides, you wouldn’t find any use for this dagger sheath.”
“Who says it’s useless? This dagger sheath is from the Western Xia Period, the same era as the box I’m studying.”
“Name your price, as long as it’s reasonable.”
“I said it’s not for sale. But… Miss Chloe, if we could study the box together…”
Leo was still very interested in the box in Chloe’s lab, which couldn’t be opened and could block spiritual senses.
Chloe frowned, puzzled by Leo’s interest in the box.
However, ever since Chloe had seen the dagger sheath, she had a strong intuition that it was somehow connected to the box she was researching.
“Alright, but you can only watch. No hands-on work,” Chloe warned in advance.
“No problem,” Leo shrugged indifferently.
“Deal!” Chloe extended her right hand.
After agreeing to meet Chloe at the museum the next morning, Leo drove away from Golden Eagle Plaza.
Since he couldn’t find any stones worth betting on here, Leo drove to Langstel’s stone market.
After selecting three top-quality raw stones at the market, Leo drove back to Wilde Jewelry Group.
Leo spent the afternoon in Wilde Jewelry Group’s underground warehouse, practicing his cultivation.
Although the issues with Orientia and the Werewolves were resolved, the spatial rift still existed.
This meant that people from another Plane of Existence could come to Earth through this rift.
Earth’s current technological civilization was not enough to combat a spiritual cultivation civilization, so they had to prepare for the worst.
Only by gaining the power to traverse the spatial rift could they completely seal and hide it.
The Cultivators who had left Earth long ago had left this rift behind, perhaps as a way back if they couldn’t survive in another Plane of Existence.
The next morning at nine o’clock, Leo appeared on the sixth floor of the city museum.
Led by Chloe, Leo first put on a white lab coat, mask, and gloves in a room before entering her lab.
Inside the lab was a small operating room enclosed by glass.
Using mechanical arms, they could manipulate objects inside the operating room.
Leo noticed that the box was already placed inside, along with a glass jar of mercury and a jar of plant ash.
It seemed Chloe was preparing for a negative pressure unlocking experiment.
“Mercury is highly toxic, so we must isolate it. Now we’ll immerse the wooden box in mercury.”
As Chloe spoke, she began operating the mechanical arms to place the box into the mercury-filled glass jar.
A timer was set up next to the operating room. Once the box was submerged, it started counting down from thirty minutes.
“Did you bring the dagger sheath?”
“Yes.”
Leo handed the dagger sheath to Chloe. She took it and walked over to an instrument, placing the sheath inside.
Chloe tapped a few keys on a computer keyboard nearby. Soon, an image appeared on the screen along with a string of data in a small window.
Leo couldn’t make sense of the gray image on the computer screen.
“Based on the data comparison, this dagger sheath is indeed from the same era as the box,” Chloe concluded.
“What material is this dagger sheath made of?” Leo asked.
“We need to conduct further tests to determine that. It won’t be quick,” Chloe replied.
“Miss Chloe, aren’t you going to explain what these instruments do?”
“Alright, this one uses C14 dating to determine the age of artifacts. This one is for material analysis…” Chloe patiently explained to Leo.
After half an hour, they took the box out of the mercury and buried it in plant ash.
Now they had to wait seven days. The timer was set for seven days or 168 hours.
Leo and Chloe agreed to meet at the museum again in seven days.
After leaving the museum, Leo went to Spirit Moon Antiques.
Christine and her sister were surprised to see Leo because they had tried to contact him earlier but he seemed to have vanished.
Leo didn’t tell them about Enchanted Realm matters; he just said he had been abroad for some business.
After the appraisal event, Spirit Moon Antiques gained some fame in the industry. However, due to Ethan’s deliberate suppression, their business wasn’t doing well.
Leo couldn’t help much with their antique business at the moment. After chatting with the sisters for a while, he left.
Next, Leo went to Seven Stars Sword Sect.
Since Leo left for Orientia, Seven Stars Sword Sect had been undergoing extensive repairs.
Despite significant manpower and resources being invested, only a small part of the damage caused by Werewolves had been repaired so far.
Leo decided not to return to his clinic and stayed at Seven Stars Sword Sect to practice cultivation and reinforce protective formations.
Violet, Donovan, and others left for home the day after Leo returned.
Theodore from Iron Sword Sect and Serene Dark didn’t rush back but stayed at Seven Stars Sword Sect to practice and help with repairs.
Five days passed quickly. While planting Spirit Medicine at Spirit Crocodile Cliff, Leo sensed something unusual.
As his spiritual sense spread out, Leo’s expression turned serious and he disappeared instantly.
Behind Seven Stars Sword Sect’s rear mountain was another adjacent peak called Big Green Mountain, slightly higher than Seven Stars Sword Sect’s peak.
On Big Green Mountain was a relatively flat area that offered a clear view of Seven Stars Sword Sect.
At that moment, an off-road vehicle was parked there. Four people stood at the cliff’s edge, using high-powered binoculars to observe Seven Stars Sword Sect.
These four were foreigners and Espers-three men and one woman.
“Callie, I’ve seen many beautiful places, but I think this Seven Stars Sword Sect is the most beautiful,” said a man beside the woman with admiration in his voice.
Callie nodded in agreement. “Paul, you’re right. It’s just a pity there are too many trees blocking a full view.”
“Why don’t we go over there and capture that Atraria kid? Once we bring him back home, our mission will be complete,” Paul suggested.
