Chapter 1548: Saving a Life

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-9-15

“This item is difficult for me to appraise,” Chloe shook her head.
What did she mean by difficult to appraise? Without a price, how could he win against Leo?
Quentin’s face darkened with displeasure.
The auctioneer, like everyone else, wanted to know who had won or lost. He quickly asked, “Miss Chloe, since you can’t determine an exact price right now, can you at least say whether this item is worth more than $3, 400?”
The crowd admired the auctioneer’s cleverness; a rough estimate would suffice to decide the winner.
“$3, 400?” Chloe glanced at the auctioneer. “This item is worth far more than $3, 400, more than a hundred times that amount!”
“A hundred times… more!!” someone in the crowd exclaimed.
“At least $300, 000!” Chloe concluded.
“$300, 000!” The crowd erupted in excitement; this was indeed a significant find.
“Impossible, impossible! How could this be worth $300, 000? You, you all…”
The sudden blow left Quentin stunned. His gaze alternated between Leo and Chloe.
Recalling their earlier conversation, could they be in cahoots?
Chloe snorted coldly, displeased. “If you don’t believe my appraisal, bring in other experts from the museum. If this item’s value is less than $300, 000, I will apologize to you.”
“I-I didn’t mean that…” Quentin felt as if his heart was being cut.
Leo timely provoked him, “Looks like someone is trying to back out.”
“A bet is a bet. I, Quentin, will never back out!”
Quentin grabbed a bottle of mineral water nearby, poured it into the Azure Cloud Tripod, and then held the tripod’s ears with both hands, tilting his head back to drink.
As the water entered the tripod, a foul smell emanated.
Leo and Chloe exchanged glances and couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Leo looked impressed and laughed, “In ancient times, those who were trapped for years drank a liter of white horse urine and were cured in thirty days.”
“Quentin, drinking this potion will ensure your health for a year; it’s quite a bargain!”
“What horse urine?” Quentin didn’t quite understand but clearly heard the word “urine,” causing his stomach to churn.
“The Azure Cloud Tripod was used as a chamber pot by ancient nobility. Can’t you smell the strong odor of urine?” Chloe clutched her stomach as she spoke, laughing so hard that it hurt.
“Ugh…!!”
Even if Quentin was slow to react, he finally understood. His stomach churned violently, and he vomited yellow liquid all over the floor.
The onlookers quickly stepped back, covering their noses.
“I wanted to tell you earlier but saw you kept sniffing…” Chloe made an apologetic face.
Quentin’s spirit collapsed; he dared not stay another second and fled the scene, leaving the Azure Cloud Tripod behind.
“Quentin, your tripod!” Leo’s voice chased after Quentin.
The show was almost over. Just as everyone was about to pack up and leave, a woman’s sharp voice rang out.
“Ah, honey, what’s wrong? Don’t scare me! Help!” A woman in the crowd cried out for help.
Her husband had collapsed on the ground, convulsing with foam at his mouth and a frighteningly dark face.
“Call an ambulance!” someone reminded.
“Yes, an ambulance!” The woman quickly took out her phone.
“Wait, let me take a look,” Leo appeared before the woman.
“Young man, be careful…” someone warned Leo.
The warning was to caution Leo against being blamed later.
Leo wasn’t worried about being blamed because the man on the ground was indeed in trouble and in life-threatening danger.
Specifically, he was possessed by a spirit.
Leo found it hard to understand how this man could be possessed in broad daylight and with so many people around.
Regardless, saving a life was paramount.
“Get out of the way! Everyone move aside! I’m innocent! You can’t frame me!” The man on the ground suddenly shouted.
Without delay, Leo called out, “Two people help me lift him.”
There were still many good-hearted people. As soon as Leo spoke, two men stepped forward and lifted the man from the ground.
“Is there a separate room here?” Leo asked the auctioneer.
“Yes, this way. Follow me,” the auctioneer quickly pointed.
After carrying the man into a separate room within the venue, Leo told everyone, “Do not come in until I come out!”
The man’s wife worriedly asked, “Are you a doctor?”
“I am a doctor!” Leo replied and shut the door with a bang.
Watching the convulsing man on the ground, Leo began to walk around him.
Leo stepped in positions of the Three Talents Convergence Array. This formation effectively restrained malevolent spirits. If used correctly, it could easily resolve possession issues.
As Leo walked around and chanted incantations while forming hand seals, he circled nine times before stopping abruptly. He struck at the man on the ground with his right hand seal. “Leave immediately!”
A gust of cold wind suddenly blew through the room, rattling the windows.
The man on the ground let out a strange cry and leaped towards Leo.
A cold smile appeared on Leo’s lips. He formed another seal with his left hand and pointed at the man.
The man immediately froze in place, only twitching occasionally.
It seemed he was possessed by a wraith rather than a gloomwraith!
Gloomwraiths and wraiths were entirely different concepts.
A gloomwraith referred to a malevolent spirit without form. A wraith had both soul and form and was much harder to deal with using ordinary methods.
Leo took out a talisman from his body and waved his right hand. The talisman flew onto the man’s forehead.
The man trembled as if struck by lightning and muttered, “I’m innocent… I died unjustly…”
“Huh, such strong resentment,” Leo resumed walking around with a special gait.
As Leo moved, the talisman on the man’s forehead occasionally emitted red light.
The man’s convulsions grew more intense.
About half a minute later, the man suddenly screamed and collapsed to the ground, spitting out black water from his mouth.
Simultaneously, the talisman on his forehead turned to ashes.
The black water was filth produced after the wraith dissolved. The wraith had been expelled from the man’s body by Leo.
Leo opened the door; the woman rushed in first.
Seeing her husband on the ground, she anxiously called out, “Honey!”
“He’s fine now. He’ll wake up soon but will need some time to recover fully,” Leo said as he left the room.
