Chapter 98: A Dramatic Turn of Events

Declan’s face remained dark as he gave an order to his men, “You’re the most arrogant and presumptuous person I’ve ever seen. Boys, subdue him!”
At his command, everyone surged towards Kayden with great enthusiasm.
Kayden clenched his fists. Suddenly, a mysterious strong wind began to blow, and the sky changed its color in an instant. A massive dark cloud appeared in the sky that was clear just moments ago.
A loud thunder sounded, as if a storm was coming. And in a matter of seconds, the color of the sky had changed completely.
No one in the crowd of two thousand realized they were surrounded by a thick, murderous aura, one capable of annihilating everything in its path. It was something they had never seen in this bustling city.
Kayden had decided to kill. He didn’t mind slaughtering these two thousand people right then and there.
He tolerated the Adams family because they had helped him through the hardest three years of his life.
But how dare these scoundrels in front of him offend him? They were only digging their own graves. For Kayden, killing two thousand people was no different from killing two.
“What’s going on? Why did the sky suddenly change?”
“Is it going to rain? It’s so sudden, isn’t it?”
“Maybe it’s a solar eclipse. I heard there’s one this year and it’s supposed to be a once-in-120-years phenomenon.”
“Really? Will it be completely dark soon?”
The approaching crowd was distracted by the thunder. Everyone stopped, discussing about the change in the sky, and temporarily forgot about what they were doing.
They didn’t realize what the change in weather meant-the thickening of the murderous intent.
“Why are you all standing around? Go take him down!” Declan quickly snapped out of his daze and shouted.
Kayden took a step forward and took his stance.
“Stop!” Just as Kayden was about to strike, a sharp female voice suddenly intervened.
The voice was not loud but was incredibly authoritative. Everyone halted at her command.
The crowd turned toward the source of the voice and saw a stunningly beautiful woman walking forward. The sea of men in black immediately parted, making way for her.
She was wearing a white dress and a pair of black high heels, her long hair cascading down to her shoulders, looking like a celestial being. She was strikingly beautiful, with exquisite features and an impeccable figure. From her face to her body, from her skin to her demeanor, everything about her was perfect. The only word that could describe her was extraordinary.
They say no one is perfect, that flaws are a part of human, and that it’s only natural. But this woman seemed to be an exception. She was simply flawlessly perfect.
The moment she arrived, everyone from the bus started murmuring. “It’s Sariah Faulkner!”
“Sariah? Isn’t she said to be the most beautiful woman in the Southwest?”
“Oh my god, is there really such a beautiful woman in the world? Did she save the galaxy in her past life?”
“People can be so different. Why is it that some women can be so stunning while the others aren’t?”
Sariah was the kind of woman that men wanted to be with and women wanted to be. She was always the center of attention wherever she went.
When Sophie saw Sariah, she quickly realized that even though she herself was quite beautiful, she was completely overshadowed by this woman. It was true, she was indeed not as beautiful or glamorous as this stunning woman in front of her.
Her presence was so commanding that she could easily overpower everyone around her.
This was the first time that Sophie had seen such a beautiful woman, she couldn’t help but feel a tinge of inferiority. She had always been the one that people admire, but not this time.
Sariah moved gracefully through the crowd. Even her walk was beautiful, as if every step was deliberately taken to show off her charm.
Her gaze first fell on Kayden, her eyes captivating and seductive, as if they could steal his soul.
Kayden nodded at her casually, acknowledging her presence.
Everyone was so focused on Sariah that they didn’t notice the sun had reappeared in the sky and the dark cloud had dissipated.
“Sister-in-law!” Declan greeted Sariah with utmost respect.
He knew better than to mess with her. Nathan Atkinson, the young master of the Atkinson family, had made it clear that anyone who dared to mess with Sariah would face serious consequences.
Nathan, son of Fletcher Atkinson, was notorious in Inassea. He had often abused his family’s power, though he had never killed anyone, he had been involved in various forms of violence.
He was the biggest fan of Sariah and had even declared in Inassea that anyone who dared to get close to her is as good as dead. Not long ago, a wealthy young man from out of town tried to flirt with Sariah. Within two days, he was dead. Although his wealth was nothing compared to that of the Atkinson family.
As Nathan’s subordinate, Declan treated Sariah as his own sister-in-law.
This address stunned Sariah. She asked with a pucker in her brows, “Who are you calling sister-in-law?”
Declan quickly replied, “Mr. Atkinson had instructed us to address you as Sister-in-law when we see you!”
“Haha.” Sariah smiled coldly, clearly very displeased with Declan.
Sophie tightened her grip on Kayden’s hand and said, “I know you’re not afraid of anything, but since you’re here in Inassea, there are some rules that you need to follow. For example, this woman is not someone you should mess with. She is far more troublesome than Declan. No man who’s ever gotten close to her has had a happy ending. Do you know who is Nathan Atkinson? Nathan is her biggest admirer and suitor. He was taught by his uncle and is very skilled in martial arts. He controls the underground world here. He’s also the heir of the Atkinson family.”
Kayden frowned slightly, annoyed at Sophie’s incessant gossip.
“How do you know so much?” Kayden couldn’t help but ask, speaking to Sophie directly for the first time.
Sophie explained, “One of my roommates is obsessed with this kind of gossip. She is from here, and she talks about these things all the time. I’m actually getting tired of hearing it.”
“Alright,” Kayden didn’t say anything else, turning to look at Sariah.
In reality Kayden had asked Fletcher Atkinson about Sariah. Fletcher said he was aware of the situation and had even asked Lewis Henderson. However, Lewis didn’t say much, simply hinting that Sariah didn’t really have good relations with the Henderson family. Moreover, Fletcher was no longer the Firefist he once was. Although he still had some connections, he couldn’t do as he wished like he used to.
That’s why Kayden had decided to come here personally to find out more.
Sariah walked over to Kayden, her eyes warm and her demeanor losing its usual cold and domineering edge. She bowed deeply to Kayden and said, “Dr. Scott, why didn’t you let me know you were coming? I would have sent someone to pick you up. You didn’t need to come by bus.”
She glanced at the bus behind him, noting that it was something a man of Kayden’s status shouldn’t have to use.
But Kayden didn’t seem to mind, saying “As long as I could get to Inassea. It doesn’t matter how.”
Sariah smiled, “You’re right, Dr. Scott!”
The genuine smile on Sariah’s face never faded while she spoke to Kayden. She was cold to everyone else, but with Kayden, she was extremely respectful.
Everyone was astonished by this scene. Sariah, the most beautiful woman in the Southwest, actually bowed to someone in such shabby clothes?
She had always been cold and indifferent toward men, rarely acknowledging their existence. Take Nathan for instance, no matter how much he tried to flatter her, she never paid him any attention. But this guy somehow managed to make Sariah smile. It was truly astonishing.
