“You think that the innocent will be proven innocent, but you can’t stop Rosalind from playing the victim! Haven’t the elders always said that pillow talk is the most dangerous?”
Sirena was amused by his exaggerated expression and waved her hand.
“Just as well, Ulric’s mother is in the country. I can take advantage of the cooperative investigation time to slack off and rest, and spend some time with her. Don’t mess up my plans.”
Johnny looked at her for a long time before sighing.
“You just keep spoiling Ulric! How will he ever realize your worth at this rate?”
“I’m not doing this for him to see. I genuinely like his mother and treat her as my own.”
Johnny nodded and suddenly asked, “By the way, why do you rarely talk about your father over the years? He and your mother must have been a loving couple to have raised such a gentle and considerate daughter like you.”
“… Yes, they were very loving.” Just not as a couple.

Ulric drove to a restaurant and parked the car.
He had already sent someone ahead to order the dishes, and they were immediately led to a private room upon arrival.
Rosalind hadn’t felt hungry before, but looking at the delicious food on the table, her stomach started to growl.
Ulric personally sterilized the utensils for her and placed them in front of her.
After taking a few bites, Rosalind suddenly remembered, “You came back just like that. What about Fragrant Harbor?”
The original business trip was supposed to last several more days.
“Cedric will handle it.”
“Can he manage such a crucial project without you?” Rosalind wasn’t naive, she knew that if Cedric could handle it alone, Ulric wouldn’t have rushed to Fragrant Harbor right after returning from Sinoington.
Ulric added a piece of beef to her bowl. “Once things are settled here, I’ll go back.”
“… Don’t let this issue delay the project’s progress. Go back to Fragrant Harbor, I can handle this myself.”
“Rosalind, I want to protect you.”
No matter how difficult the road ahead might be, he wanted to shield Rosalind from harm.
Hearing this, Rosalind immediately lowered her head, pretending not to hear.
But inside, she was flustered.
What did he mean?
Protect her?
“Eat more. No matter what happens, your health is important.” Ulric didn’t expect her to respond.
This woman always used avoidance as her ultimate move, and he didn’t want to force her to accept it too soon.
“Okay…”
“Move back to Easthaven Bay tonight. I’m worried it’s not safe for you at Tilda’s place.”
Rosalind was stunned.
It seemed he had returned to Easthaven Bay and noticed she had taken all her belongings.
“No, I can’t get used to living there. If… you need anything, call me, and I’ll come over.”
She thought of the strawberries in the fridge and everything Ulric had done for Sirena there, and felt resistant to going back to Easthaven Bay.
How could she live there again?
“Tilda’s neighborhood is too ordinary, and the security isn’t great. If someone comes to take you away, you won’t even have time to call for help.”
“How do you know where Tilda lives?!”
He had investigated even this!
“I also know that since you moved in, Malcolm has been visiting Tilda’s place frequently.”
“…”
