During the meal, Rosalind wanted several times to ask him what he meant by his earlier words, but in the end, she kept it all to herself.
She should be focusing on finding evidence now, rather than being distracted by these thoughts.
After the meal, Ulric was called away by a phone call.
However, he still took Rosalind back to Tilda’s place first and repeated once again that she must move back to Easthaven Bay by tomorrow at the latest.
Back in her room, Rosalind felt her thoughts were a tangled mess, unable to make sense of anything.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
It was Mrs. Eva calling.
“Have you returned from your trip?”
“Yes, but things are busy at the company, I haven’t had time to come see you.”
Eva chuckled, “You focus on your work. If you’re busy, you don’t need to come see me. I’m still the same!”
Rosalind didn’t tell her mother what had happened, there was no need to make another person worry.
“I’ll come over once I finish handling things.”
“Then bring Malcolm along too. I have something to tell him! You’re so busy, he should be more understanding of you.”
Rosalind paused, not speaking.
She had originally planned to tell her mother everything after her surgery! But now… she didn’t have the energy to deal with her mother and just wanted to find evidence quickly.
“He’s also very busy, so let’s not disturb him.”
“You shouldn’t think that way! A man needs to be kept busy so you can see through repeated actions whether he truly cares about you.”
Rosalind could only sigh at her mother’s lecture.
“I understand.”
“Why do I feel like you’re very tired today? Rosalind, did something happen?” Eva finally sensed something was wrong.
Rosalind initially wanted to say nothing was wrong, but then she changed her mind.
“Mom… have you ever met that woman?”
There was sudden silence on the other end of the line.
Rosalind said, “Mom, Mom?”
“Why are you asking about her out of the blue?” Eva asked abruptly.
“I want to see what she looks like. I’ve never seen her before.”
“What else could she look like? A vixen! And her daughter too!” Mentioning this made Eva’s anger spike. “Don’t make me recall her appearance, it disgusts me!”
Rosalind tugged at her lips, “Mom, do you think… I might look somewhat similar to that illegitimate daughter?”
After all, they shared the same father, there should be some resemblance.
“Do they deserve it? Ha!”
Rosalind knew she wouldn’t get anything useful from her mother. Asking more would only arouse suspicion, so she decided to drop it.
“Mom, you should rest well. I need to get back to work.”
“Alright, remember to take care of yourself and eat properly!”
Rosalind responded several times before hanging up. She stared at the new number for Sirena on her phone for a long time.
She felt that Sirena’s reason for framing her might not be just because of Ulric.
There must be other grudges involved.
Rosalind sat there in a daze for a while before calling Tilda.
“Tilda, do you know where I can get a paternity test done?”
“Yes, I have a client who does that. The accuracy is very high,” Tilda replied directly, puzzled. “Hey? Why are you asking about this?”
“I want to do a paternity test.”
She had a question in her heart and wanted to know the answer.
