Ulric’s thick eyebrows furrowed.
“To prove your innocence, you need evidence. It’s not enough that Malcolm believes you.”
“I know, that’s why I’m going to gather evidence now.”
With that, Rosalind tugged at the car door and frowned. “Open the door.”
“According to you, we need to get a voice recording of Sirena admitting it herself, or direct proof that she instructed you to send the technical drawings! Going to Harmony Heights is useless, they are adamant that they created the technical drawings themselves.”
In the industry, Harmony Heights’ behavior was well-known. Everyone knew what kind of company it was. Rosalind wouldn’t gain anything by going there. Worse, if someone took photos or videos of her, it would only add to the evidence of her contact with the company!
“Can you make her admit it?”
Rosalind turned to look at him.
“… No.”
“So all of this is useless. I still have to figure it out myself.” Rosalind knew the road ahead would be tough, but she had no choice but to move forward.
Any bit of evidence would help! She couldn’t just sit and wait for doom!
“Calm down and listen to me.” Ulric reached out and grabbed her slender wrist. “I’ll find a way. You’re too impulsive right now, your decisions might not be right. Don’t make things worse. Leave it to me and take a few days off.”
“Take a few days off? Or… get completely kicked out of the investment industry for life?”
She retorted.
Every word was like a knife stabbing into his heart.
“I told you, as long as you didn’t do it, no one can falsely accuse you.”
“But the fact is I didn’t do it! How many people are falsely accusing me? Today at Prosperity Holdings, I wasn’t deaf, I could hear them whispering about me, saying I’m desperate for money, saying I’m ungrateful and betrayed the company! I, I didn’t, I really didn’t…” Rosalind lost control of her emotions and broke down.
She covered her face with her hands.
She didn’t want anyone to see her crying!
She could endure hardship and suffering, but being falsely accused was worse than death!
But unfortunately, her power was vastly inferior to Sirena’s. It was like a stone deliberately hitting an egg, even if the stone struck first, only the egg would break!
Rosalind was that egg!
Ulric didn’t say anything. He quietly listened to her sobbing and then handed her a tissue.
After a long while, he pursed his lips and said, “After this is over, I’ll arrange for you to go to another branch.”
Rosalind’s back stiffened. She looked up at him with red eyes. “Even if I find evidence, I still have to go to a branch?”
She had worked so hard to get a position at the headquarters, diligently and without any slack. Now, because she was framed, she, the victim, had to avoid Sirena?
“You’ve always wanted to be an investment director. At a branch, you can lead a team.”
“Ulric.” Rosalind interrupted him. “I don’t need you to arrange anything for me. Our agreement doesn’t state that I have to work at W Group.”
He frowned and gripped her hand tighter.
“Do you want to resign?”
“I’m not thinking about that now. At least not leaving W Group at this moment. I didn’t do anything wrong. If I leave now, how is that different from admitting guilt?”
So she decided that tomorrow she would go to work at the headquarters as usual! She wouldn’t listen to Ulric and take a break!
