Rosalind hadn’t replied yet when Tilda sent a second message in quick succession.
“I think there’s something wrong with you! Rosalind, am I not your best friend?”
“Of course.”
“Then tell me, who is this guy you’ve been so hung up on? Don’t deny it. From your behavior, it’s clear that you’ve fallen for someone.”
Fallen for someone… Ulric?
But Rosalind’s first reaction was, how could she dare? She felt that looking at Ulric was like a devotee admiring a deity, how could she dare think of him in a romantic way?
“I’m just curious about men in relationships, don’t be so sensitive.”
Tilda was relentless, “I knew you wouldn’t admit it. Anyway, let me remind you, it’s fine to have fun with men, but don’t lose yourself just because he’s being temporarily gentle and considerate. You think he’s good to you, but he might be even better to someone else! Men who are overly nice from the start usually have other motives and won’t last.”
Rosalind wanted to tell Tilda about her current situation with Ulric and ask for her analysis.
But after reading this message, she felt there was no need.
Because Tilda had almost answered all of Rosalind’s doubts! What more was there to ask? It seemed that wealthy people followed the same pattern, or perhaps all men did, which is why Tilda could so accurately guess that Rosalind was conflicted because Ulric was too gentle and considerate.
Rosalind thought she should always be prepared in case Ulric suddenly withdrew all his kindness, leaving her caught off guard.
…
After leaving Rosalind, Ulric went straight back to his room.
He suddenly realized that what stood between him and her was not just her slow-to-warm-up personality but also the vast social gap between their families.
Rosalind’s question earlier was meant to explain why she chose to take Malcolm to see her mother.
But to Ulric, it sounded like the most difficult and unsolvable problem!
He couldn’t let his parents know about Rosalind’s existence for now, let alone take them to the hospital to see her mother.
But Malcolm could.
Ulric furrowed his brows as he took a bottle of red wine from the wine cabinet and sipped a few mouthfuls. Just then, Audrey called.
“I’ve arrived in Northville City. Sirena is coming to pick me up. Don’t worry, she’ll take good care of me.”
He frowned, “I’ll send my assistant to take care of you. Lawyer Reynolds has other matters.”
“No! I’m not familiar with your assistant. Why would you send him?” Audrey’s tone was somewhat displeased and resentful. “I’ve finally come back to the country, only to find you on a business trip. I haven’t even said anything about it, and now you want to drag Sirena into work too! Who will accompany me then?”
Before Ulric could speak, he heard Sirena’s gentle voice on the other end.
“I’ll accompany you! Tell Ulric not to worry, my work won’t be affected.”
Audrey had always been satisfied with Sirena and praised her repeatedly, “You’re so considerate! Luckily you’re here, otherwise, I’d be all alone after coming back. What’s the point of having a son? You two should have a bunch of daughters in the future and not a single son!”
Listening to their conversation made Ulric’s temples start to throb.
“Mom, Lawyer Reynolds and I, ”
“I understand! You just want to prioritize work, I didn’t say anything.” Audrey laughed. “Alright, go ahead with your work! We’ll talk after your business trip.”
She hung up the phone before Ulric could even explain.
A few seconds later, Sirena sent a text message: “Don’t worry, Ulric. I’ll take care of your mother, focus on your business trip.”
