She mainly felt that she wasn’t suitable to pick up Ulric!
Rosalind was already starting to feel suffocated. Let alone picking up Ulric and being alone with him in a car, in a confined space, it would be so awkward that even her hair would stand on end!
“Mr. Walters has a car in Fragrant Harbor. Once you arrive, I’ll give you the car keys.”
“Well… my driving skills aren’t that great. I hope I don’t damage Mr. Walters’ car.”
Cedric gave a mysterious smile and raised an eyebrow, “Don’t worry! Mr. Walters has over a dozen cars parked in his garage in Fragrant Harbor. Even if you damage one, no one will know! If it weren’t for the transfer issues, you could sell a few.”
Rosalind tugged at her lips, not knowing whether to marvel at Ulric’s wealth or lament that her excuse had been dismissed again.
On the plane, Cedric and a few colleagues held a small meeting.
She listened in but didn’t understand much, silently admiring her mentor’s expertise.
After the flight attendants distributed the meals, Cedric returned to his seat.
Rosalind glanced at the contract in his hand, which was a risk hedging report.
“This research project by Genesis Enterprises has such a big impact on W Group?”
“Yes, the meat is juicy, but there are many tough bones to chew.” Cedric shook the stack of research materials. “I’m afraid I’ll have to spend the next few months on this.”
Rosalind hadn’t noticed before, but Cedric already had a few strands of white hair!
“You work so hard, don’t your family members have any objections?” She noticed Cedric seemed to spend almost 24 hours at W Group.
Cedric took a sip of coffee, “My parents are abroad.”
“What about your wife?”
“No wife, I’m not married.” Cedric specifically showed his bare ring finger. “Right now, I’m at my peak energy-wise, so I need to focus on my career!”
“No wonder you have such a high position at W Group, you’ve poured all your effort into it.”
Cedric waved his hand and smiled, “Stop flattering me. In our industry, how many people get married early? We’re so busy that I wish I could split each day into 48 hours. If I found a girlfriend now, got married, and had a child, it would be unfair to her. I wouldn’t have time for her, let alone balance family life.”
Rosalind nodded in agreement.
Many marriages end in divorce due to neglect, ultimately harming the children.
“Look at Mr. Walters, he isn’t married either. Lawyer Reynolds has been by his side for so long, and they haven’t taken the next step because their focus is on their careers.”
“…” Rosalind was taken aback and smiled awkwardly.
“Hey, during Mr. Walters’ student days, did many female classmates like him?”
Cedric suddenly showed some interest in non-work-related matters.
It was the first time he asked Rosalind something unrelated to work.
Rosalind thought for a moment, “It wasn’t just many, it was almost every female classmate in school.”
She still remembered that Ulric received so many love letters that they couldn’t fit in his desk and many ended up on hers! It made her want to ask the teacher for a different seatmate because it was too distracting for her studies.
